I just found this free Kashi chewy trail mix granola bar offer on the web, which is exciting for me, because not only do I get to enjoy some tasty food for free, but I also get to mention how strange I find the Kashi commercials on TV to be. Their whole ad campaign centers around the “owner” traveling the world looking for healthy food that is tasty, which is a great idea for an ad. It’s visually entertaining while verbally letting you know what the ad is about and what you can expect in return. This alone already puts them ahead of most ads on TV.

And yet, this owner…well, it doesn’t really look like he’s eaten too much healthy food in his lifetime if you know what I’m saying. It’s the equivalent of Lenscrafters hiring a blind person to try and pitch a pair of contact lenses. Just a terrible execution of a decent ad ideaq. But, thanks to this freebie, I learned that his name is Greg and he’s actually just been signed on to be like the Subway Jared guy. An overwight every-man who started eating Kashi and viola!

Except, it looks like they rushed the campaing a bit too soon. Next time, they might want to wait for the viola! to actually happen…
