Free 9-Volt Battery (NYC Only)

When I posted this on the forums, I realized immediately that not everyone reads them… I think this is one of those important PSA style announcements like what you might have seen with “The More You Know” on the old TV shows growing up. Man, now I feel old because I remember the after school special on drugs with the Ninja Turtles in it that had one of those “The More You Know” PSAs in each and every commercial break…

Needless to say, sometimes you need to stop and think about personal safety, and if you’re in New York City, that time is now. All of April they’ll be giving out free 9-volt batteries and pamphlets at fire safety events. There’s only one date listed there, but they’re supposed to be updating it, so if you’re in NYC, bookmark that sucka and keep checking back…

Let’s all be safe, HIFers: When you get home today, or if you’re at home right now–check and replace the battery in your smoke detector. While it might cost us a buck fiddy to do it and NYC gets it for free, well, you can’t put a price on your safety…
