Freebie Review 19 – Caramel Delight Cereal

Edit by Goob: The stupid smart sample links keep looping back here to this site (one of their anti-spam measures gone haywire!), so you’ll have to right click on the link and manually copy it to your browser. Sorry folks!

Hi everyone out there! I’ve got a good freebie review for you today. It’s Saturday (edit by Goob: oops!) and not much freebie stuff arrives, but today one did and I’m gonna review it for you. The freebie we are going to talk about is Fiber One’s “Caramel Delight” Cereal. Mine arrived on March 8th, 2008 and I signed up for it back on January 24th…So almost two months waiting for it…I’ve waited longer for stuff.

It arrived in a heavy little cardboard box that has the company’s product on every inch of the box. On the side of it is the quote “Fiber meets Flavor!” Let’s hope so I thought. Upon opening the box there was a second little box, it reminds me of those little kid variety packs you buy at the store. Inside that box, finally I got to the little foil package of the cereal. I must say I like the double box, it makes less squished cereal which I have had happen with food samples before. Cereal out of the foil and into the bowl. There looked to be about a cup of it there but upon further reading the cereal box it states “this sample contains less then one cup” which one cup is the serving size…whatever. On to the cereal.

It smells really good, like cinnamon and honey, but the ingredients contain none of that. Whole grain, wheat, sugar, corn bran chicory root extract and rice bran are just a few of the ingredients. I’m seriously telling you though, I smell cinnamon and honey. This cereal reminds me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, shape and look wise. Tasting it before the milk it tastes like French toast, which is not a bad thing. Okay, milk added and the little squares float around like they are in their own little swimming pool. Tasting it with milk, tastes like even better French toast. Maybe it’s just my taste buds or something, lol. The cereal doesn’t seem to become soggy either, which is a great thing…who wants soggy cereal right?

Well, General Mills did good with this cereal. Back late last year or earlier this year, Fiber One gave away free samples of the Original Fiber One cereal, which also didn’t suck, so I think this is something everyone might like. There are also other flavors besides Caramel and Original. Two of them are, Raisin Bran Clusters and Honey Clusters, both of which I hope we get to sample. Along with the free sample was a 1.00$ off coupon, which isn’t bad at all. I priced this cereal at Wal-Mart and Shop and Save and it was anywhere from 1.99$ to 2.99$. A dollar off, well worth it in my opinion.

This is a cereal that I would most definitely buy after trying the sample. This is a great snacking cereal also, lol…If you’d like to try this, then today’s your lucky day! The free Caramel Delight cereal is back up, so sign up before it dies again! Let me know if the link doesn’t work for you either, it was acting a little wonky for me earlier this morning.

Rating (1-5) :) :) :) :) :)

Free Seattle’s Best Coffee

I don’t care what people say, I’d rather have some free Seattle’s Best coffee over a free pack of Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts coffee. Although I almost didn’t qualify for this freebie because I kept forgetting to check which flavor I wanted sent to me. I guess that’s what happens when you try to sign up for freebies in the morning before having a cup of coffee yourself!

HIF: No Longer Depressing To Look At!

Well holy moly, what do we have here? That’s right folks, I grew bored with that bland layout we had before (TOO MUCH GREY!) and decided to slap together something new that used more than two primary colors. Of course, I might have gone a little overboard with strong colors, but for now this is what we’re working with here on HIF :)

Of course, I guarantee you I’ve messed up the site somewhere. So if you see anything that looks weird or outright doesn’t work, please let me know in the comments and I’ll get on it! I’ve tested the layout in Firefox, IE 7, and Safari and I don’t see anything too goofy, but I very well could have missed something. Thanks everybody and I hope there are more people out there who like the new look than who hate it!

P.S. If you are having trouble reading the site, let me know. My mom mentioned it hurt her eyes before, so I tweaked it a little. But who knows, maybe I didn’t tweak it enough. Let me know, because if nobody says anything, I’ll assume it’s fine.

Free Music Downloads from Steven Foxbury

Continuing along with my free download offering from the other days, I’d like to share another personal favorite musician of mine who has a ton of awesome free downloads on their site. Steven Foxbury. Just head over to the third dot on the site there and its for the music page, and there are 2 EPs and 1 LP worth of music, all available for your listening pleasure.

I’ve been lucky enough to see Steve open for 7M3 twice, and each time I see him, he gets better and better. A great lyricist and all around enjoyable listen.

And if you like that, well, I’m still surfing, but I’ve found a few other artists here or there that I might have to start sharing full free downloads from the musicians themselves. Some musicians allow it, others don’t. Just need to keep your eye out to find a few of them…

Back later with more, folks… I just pulled this one from a draft that I’ve had saved for a while, seeing I’m still settling in from the wife and I moving this past weekend…

Free Ultra XCID Antacid

EDIT: Of course, this is dead now!

Want some free free Ultra XCID antacid? Yeah, I’m not sure if I do either. If the word “antacid” wasn’t in the title, I’d have absolutely no clue what this freebie was. If I saw something called “Ultra XCID” I’d guess it was some sort of space robot or maybe a new car. They always have stupid names, like the Infinity or the Ultima. One day I’d like to see a car come out called the Pulverizer. How about the Goob? That sounds like a great name for a vehicle. Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, something about free heartburn relief!

Free Solar USB Drive

Here’s yet another free USB drive that I doubt any of us will ever get. But hey, IBM is giving them away and they’re solar! Wait, what? A solar USB stick? What the heck is that? I don’t know about you, but my computer gets on average 6 minutes of sunlight on it a week. If I need solar energy to make this thing work, I might be in a little trouble then!

March 2008 Contest!

EDIT 4: The first games have started, so entry to the contest is now closed. Good luck, everybody!

EDIT 3: I’ve removed the password requirement and added help info in the comments for anybody who might need it in signing up.

EDIT 2: In order to join the group, you need to have a free Yahoo account. Signing up for one is as easy as signing up for a freebie, just put a bunch of random info in. :) I picked Yahoo over ESPN, Facebook, etc. because it’s really user friendly, especially to people who don’t know anything about college basketball!

EDIT: It’s 3:00 and only three people have signed up? Man, somebody has some good odds to win the cash prize :D

It’s been a while since we’ve had contest here at HIF and the one I’m currently working on won’t be ready for a week or two at the least. But I really want to have one now (I sound like a whiny kid, haha), so I thought why not have a March Madness contest?! I’ve created a group on Yahoo that any Hiffer can join and the winner will get $25! It’s not a lot of money, but I promise you your odds of winning are great since none of us know what the heck we’re doing when it comes to correctly picking college basketball games :)

Entry is obviously free and if you’ve never followed the NCAA tournament before, this could be your perfect excuse to watch and follow along this year! If you’re interested, click the link below and use the password to join the group, then just click the teams until you’ve filed out your whole bracket, and you’re all set!

Group: http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/group/157337/

As far as scoring, it’s super easy. You get points for making correct picks, incorrect picks don’t penalize you, and the person with the most points at end wins.

First Round 1 point
Second Round 2 points
Third Round 4 points
Fourth Round 8 points
Semis 16 points
Championship 32 points

Don’t be shy, people! Join our group, have a little fun with fellow Hiffers who have no idea what they’re doing, and follow along in the conversation over on the forums! You have until around noon tomorrow to sign up and play.

Free Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion

EDIT: Who wants to be a pallbearer for this freebie?

This free Vaseline Intensive Rescue lotion looks awful similar to a bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo to me. Which is pretty dangerous, because early in the morning I never have my contacts in. The last thing I need is everything in the bathroom to look the same through my blurry eyes. Before long, I’ll be washing my hair with toothpaste and brushing my teeth with lotion!

Free Dexatrim Max2o

Do people seriously have a hard time drinking water? I see so many flavored water drinks out there, like this free Dexatrim Max2o (that’s also supposed to help you lose weight or something) and I can’t help but feel it’s a little overkill. I drink around a gallon of water a day and it tastes just fine to me! But if you need strawberry kiwi lemon lime orange cherry flavored water, you might want to give this one a try and see how you like it.

Free Colgate Total Toothpaste

EDIT: This is dead now!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a freebie from Wal Mart, but this free Colgate Total toothpaste ends the drought. Now if I could just get a free toothbrush, because my old one is down to about nine bristles.
