The author of one of my favorite sports websites is up for a $10,000 scholarship and seeing as how he’s in 2nd place by 500 votes, I wanted to ask if you’d please click this link and vote for the phenomenal David Cameron. I just want to further thank everybody who has voted and helped to get the word out for Cameron. I can’t believe we helped crash the site though, talk about the power of HIF!
A few people have asked me why I’m voting for him. I mentioned on the forums it’s because I’ve been reading the site he works on daily for over 4 1/2 years now. They don’t come close to making a profit on the site, they’ve never charged a subscription, and the research / analysis they go into for baseball is outstanding. So far he’s written 5,457 posts, which is…just…wow. For comparison, I’ve been posting almost every day on HIF for the past few years and only have 1,450 posts. Supporting my sources of entertainment (be it music, writing, or anything else) has always been important for me, so I thought I’d take up the cause and try to thank Cameron by helping him earn a scholarship he most certainly deserves.
The scholarship is for excellence in blogging and what got Dave nominated was a post he wrote pleading with one of the best young pitchers in baseball to change his approach to pitching. It was such a good argument that somebody got the post into the pitcher’s hands where he took the suggestions to heart, tried them out, and found success in the new approach.
People make fun of bloggers and say they’re pointless, not real journalists, whatever. But it’s a stigma that just doesn’t stick for some people.
It’s back up… go vote!
