Just make sure there is good drainage, and that you don't bury the seeds while watering. Lettuce seeds need the warmth of the sun to sprout, so just barely cover them with potting soil when you plant them. If you use a spray bottle to water them with like the website says (good idea), you might have to spray the soil several times a few minutes apart initially since some peat based mixes are slow to absorb water. I am looking forward to this. I have a bell pepper plant in a potand a blueberry plant in a pot. I have harvested 3 peppers so far and there are two more growing now. I have the pepper plant indoors to protect it from the cold. I open the blinds a little so that sunlight can get it. I just started soaking my used teabags in hotwater, cooling it, then watering the plants. I am guessing this will give them extra nutrients. I sprinkle cinnamon on the pepper plant leaves to keep away the ants.

I live in an apartment. I have a question for any of your gardeners out there: will these grow ok in a planter box in my kitchen? Does lettuce need direct sunlight?
