This sounds like the perfect "get the kids out of the house so Mommy can have a little me time" Sunday afternoon excursion that my Dad used to take us on, except we didn't have stores like this, so we went to a lot of museums and hiked in the mountains, both of which tended to tire us out.

Upon completing this project, the kiddos received a patch and a certificate. Also, the Lowes people were wandering around and providing assistance and when the planter was finished, the kids got to fill it with soil and a couple of little grass type plants. Our Lowes had child-sized hammers for the kids to use for this project, also, which did make it a bit easier for the little ones. I forgot to ask them if they sell those there. I'd like to have some of those for our home workshop. The Lowes instructions were English on one side and Spanish on the other. There were a couple of images that weren't quite right, so non-reading children need a little extra help to get it right if they're not the engineering type that can figure out the logic of it themselves. For example, there is one that shows the nails going in on the side instead of on the front where the holes are drilled and where the nails would actually hold the pieces together. My kids enjoyed it very much and I liked that they got their own pair of safety goggles along with their apron. I highly recommend this freebie along with the Home Depot workshops mentioned last weekend. The kids really love this stuff.

FYI, Lowes states (after signing up) that only the first 50 children who have signed up and show up on time will get the project, an apron, and safety goggles.
