Site Review: YouData

Earn free money with YouData

For the past few weeks, I’ve been putting together a big post on some of the best survey sites around. It’s been a bit time consuming going through each of them, but there’s one site that I thought I’d share with you today since it’s hands down the easiest way to earn a little extra cash. It’s called YouData and frankly, unless you hate free money, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be a member.

Basically you log on each week and view any ads that you qualify for. They generally pay out at around $0.15 to $0.25 each and once you’ve viewed all of your available ads, that’s it. It takes ~60 seconds to view all of my ads each week and in exchange, I generally get about $1. Now, we’re not talking about making millions obviously, but do the math.

$1 per week for 60 seconds of your time. That’s $52 a year for 52 minutes, or an average of $60/hr. If you’re making $60/hr in your current job, chances are this wouldn’t interest you, but seeing as how I certainly don’t make that much and I doubt many others do, this is a sweet little source of side case. Of course, this is predicated on the basis that you’ll qualify for $1 worth of ads each week, but I’ve been safely earning around that rate for the past two months so far.

The best part is that payments are automatic. Most of the other sites that I’m reviewing have a minimum cashout threshold and once you reach it, it’s up to you to request the payment. Not YouData. Every Friday, they automatically send whatever you earned the previous week via Paypal. No minimums, no extra steps on your part to ask for the money, no hassles.

My much longer post on earning some extra cash isn’t going to be ready for another week or two as I’m trying to be as thorough as possible, but I thought I’d share this site with ya now since I’m still searching for the freebies today.

EDIT: As mentioned in the comments, YouData requires a user to have a cell phone in order to sign up. My bad for not mentioning that earlier. Seeing as how I signed up a few months ago, I simply forgot.

you must have a cell phone and text messaging in order to be validated when signing up. poo. I only have a home phone.

  2. #2 Goob |

Michelle, sorry about that and thanks for letting us know. I had forgotten about that fact since I signed up a few months back.

  3. #3 MIchelle |

that’s quite alright! I may just use my boyfriend’s cellphone so I can sign up. I will try later when he gets home from work. :)

  4. #4 Kimberly |

Hey, Goob: if I sign up, are they going to send lots of junk texts? If so, that will cost me money instead of make money. Thanks for your dedication to the cause. :-)

  5. #5 Laela |

How do I know its not a scam?

  6. #6 carl stevens |

why do all you freebie site operators try to scam the public with these ridiculous web sites that only a few people can ever use?

  7. #7 Donna |

I’ve never had them send me a text other than to verify the first time. I’ve so far made 3.00 dollars :) lol it’s not much but free money is free money. And i know with referrals you make money when the other person does too :)

  8. #8 Kimberly |

    Thanks, Donna!

  9. #9 Donna |

your very welcome :) seems like the server is down

  10. #10 Sandy |

Goob, I just found out about this site awhile back and use it almost every
single day now!! I signed up for You Data and earned 2.01 today. Thank you so much for all you do!!

  11. #11 Goob |

Kimberly, I’ve been a member with them for 2 months and have never received a spam text.

Carl, I’m not sure how this recommendation could be construed as a scam. As for your assumption that only a few people can use it, well, again, I’m not sure how accurate that is. They don’t reject people from signing up and an account is 100% free. No credit card information, banking account, or anything insanely personal is asked for.

As for everybody else, you’re certainly welcome :D

  12. #12 kathyire50 |

I have a cellphone but do not text. I really don’t want my cellphone number used by anyone. Every other site I have used from you has been good and I have been really pleased. So, 1 out of all of your others is not bad. Thanks.

  13. #13 Jean |

All right, Goob, I’m trusting you on the validity of this website. I went there, got all signed up(as I have an email and cell phone!) and proceeded to view ads aimed at my age and gender. They say I’ve earned $1.65 and that they pay out on Fridays to my PayPal acct. Let you know this Friday(right after I get my Mars chocolate coupon!) if I got paid!

  14. #14 Zachary Jacob Zblewski |

I’ve been a member of YouData for a while now and I’ve received around $3 in my PayPal account every Friday morning from them. $3 doesn’t seem like much, but $12 a month buys me a couple of quick lunches or a bunch of gas station coffees in the mornings.

YouData is a great site, and I second Goob’s recommendation.

  15. #15 Brittan |

This seems great! I’m a member of a bunch of GPT sites and minimum payout is always not-so-minimum. Plus, I really don’t have the patience of filling out tons of surveys each week. But I mightttt trust you on this one Goob.

I do have a question though. I’ve heard of Paypal and have looked on their website a few times, but it still worries me. Is it completely free? Do you receive a statement or anything from them? Or does it go on your credit card statement? Blah, I guess I’ll go try reading their FAQs again. :)

  16. #16 Rayne |

goob, what’s your username on there so we can give you credit for us signing up?

  17. #17 KFM |

    Site is down temporarily. :\

  18. #18 KFM |

Nope, sorry, downforeveryoneorjustme.com says it’s just me!

    My bad.

Edit By Goob: I was getting a down error as well, hence my Hiffed comment below.

  19. #19 Kimberly |

It was a pretty painless process, y’all. I’ve already registered, done their survey questions, and reviewed all of my ads for today, earning $2.68! YAY, me! YAY, GOOB!

Be not afraid of the youdata.

  20. #20 Goob |

Did we just HIF a non-freebie site? Wow, that’s a first.

Paypal is a whole other beast and I don’t mean that in a negative way, simply that it’s kind of a hard question to answer. It’s owned by Ebay, so it’s set up to be secure monetarily since they integrates Paypal with their auctions. They have a bunch of different options as to getting your money from them.

Let’s pretend you have $100 in your Paypal account: you can link up your bank account and do a direct deposit, which takes about 3 business days. You can request a check be sent to you, which I think has like a $3 fee, so you’ll get a $97 check. You can also actually get a Paypal debit card, which acts like a regular bank debit card but instead draws the funds out of your PayPal account. They might have a bunch of other options for withdrawing your money, but basically they try and operate as much like a regular bank as possible – only, you know, on-line :D

  21. #21 Rayne |

    what about my question? =(

  22. #22 Shaynon |

i love this! in about 30 seconds i earned 2.18..and i love the little chimming noise! great find goob!

  23. #23 Goob |

Rayne, my bad! My username on there is HeyItsFree. I appreciate you (and everybody else!) helping me get credit. I plan on putting whatever I earn from the site towards prizes for the next contest this weekend.

  24. #24 Shaynon |

When i clicked on to sign up Goob, HeyItsFree. was already in the referral part, so there u go!

  25. #25 Cindy Barnett |

I’ve been a member of this for about 2 months now, and made about $8.50. I just purchased something from a site and it cost $9.99, so YouData basically paid for it.

Of course, this week, I’ve had 0 ads. It goes in flows. But is such a great site!

  26. #26 Michelle |

Goob…….how many text messages have you got in 2 months? I am curious because I am charged for each text. I want to see if it is worth it. thanxs!

  27. #27 Goob |

Michelle, I haven’t got a single text message from YouData in the past two months. They MIGHT send you a single confirmation text message when you sign up, but I can’t remember. Can anybody else who signed up today chime in on this?

  28. #28 Kimberly |

Immediately upon signup, I received a text with a 4 digit authorization code, as well as a standard verification email with an authorization code. I used both in the setup process.

  29. #29 Goob |

Kimberly, thanks! So in two months, YouData has sent me 1 text.

  30. #30 Kimberly |

For me, without a text package, that was $0.20 spent to earn $2.48 net.
    Nobrainer.

  31. #31 Jason |

$2.68 today from them. Great find. Anything to add to my PayPal balance is always welcome.
FYI for all you peeps wondering about PayPal. They work pretty much like a regular debit/savings bank account. If you purchase stuff online from E-bay, Amazon, etc. it’s nice to have a PayPal acct as sometimes you get discounts by paying with them. They also have a much better interest rate on your money than a regular bank generally provides. All with no fees.

  32. #32 PBChicknz |

Is there a site somewhere online to give a fake cell number? that can be used instead?? They won’t accept the carrier of my cheap prepaid phone (Net 10) and I don’t want to give them my real cell phone if I dont have to. Any services like that available?

  33. #33 Rayne |

pbchicknz, since the text sent to your cell phone is needed to activate your account, i dont think that would work. but, you could always ask a friend to use their number for it…

  34. #34 Michelle |

Thanxs for a quik response Goob- you are trully the best!

  35. #35 Jody |

I just signed up and already have 1.73 on my account (and that’s after opting to donate 30%) Woo Hoo.. That’ll come in handy at the end of the year.. (Keeping it all in my vacation account) Lets see.. If I average $2.o0 a week at 52 weeks that’s an extra $104 each year for vacation spending money… ALRIGHT!! Thanks for the info!!

  36. #36 Crystal |

I just want to say thanks goob I really love how personalized you data is,and I also only received one text with a four digit # I have a 1.67 so far for only about 2 mins. of my time!! Excellent,i love that they take you seriously and make you feel that your time is worth something. That reminds me the other day I did a survey about auto/home ins.and then all of a sudden the survey switched to gas stations and then to cosmetics,I mean come on and it was all for free! That’s an hour I won’t get back!

  37. #37 Christine |

I signed up just now and recieved over 3 dollars for about 2 mins of my time. I did it while watching TV even. I like this site. Thank you Goob.

For those of you worried about Paypal I will just say that I have used Paypal for about 5 years now and have never had a problem. I sell on Ebay and all my money goes into my Paypal account.

  38. #38 Jennifer |

PBChicknz – keep selecting carriers and hit update – I had the same problem, my carrier wasn’t listed, when I selected AT&T, it sent the text.

  39. #39 fanniefarkle |

how long did it take y’all to get ads to see? do you go to the “adgets” tab or do you see them on your main page?

  40. #40 Maureen |

Took me about 30 minutes to figure it out. I got to the adgets but couldn’t do anything. Make sure you fill out your surveys.
Paypal is great, I’ve never had any problems with them & I’ve used them for years with e-bay.
I just earned $1.51 on this site but gagged at one of the $0.13 ads … SOYJOY!

  41. #41 fanniefarkle |

I did all of the surveys, but when I click on the link for my ad’s (they say I have $1.68-worth of ads waiting for me), it takes me to the adgets page, but I never see any ads in the left-hand column. I was going to download the Adobe 5-layer software, but I got a security alert saying that they would have unrestricted access to “my files and the internet.” anyone get such a message? I’m on a mac.

  42. #42 fanniefarkle |

5-Stack software, not 5-Layer. I thought that it sounded too much like Taco Bell to be right!

  43. #43 Christine |

Go to the main page and click on the available ads then just sign in again. I didn’t have to download anything.

  44. #44 Maureen |

Below the list of ads is a box with an amount of money in it or the word “reload”, I clicked on that and they came up.

  45. #45 LuLu |

Does you personal info (like age, sex or zip) determine how many ads you are offered?

  46. #46 Jeth |

i have no idea what this is but i just made 2 dollars… thats 4 tacos at jack in the box.. im not complaining :D

  47. #47 Jude |

I also signed up for this and did only get one confirmation text and one confirmation email and I love Pay Pal and have been using it for years without a problem. I love the money end of it this YouDATA site, but I am concerned about viruses about hitting all these sites. Any suggestions? As virus lurk everywhere, I am just seeking some extra protection (please pass a condom :-) . Seriously, computer just came back from catching a virus and I do use AntiVirus software..any other suggestions (for the non computer techie) would be great. Thanks.

  48. #48 holly |

This is soo cool. Thanks GOOB!!!! I signed up about 30 mins ago and already made over $3.00. I’m always looking for ways to make money online as I’m an unemployed writer…..

  49. #49 Lindsay |

I just signed up and in my Account Activity Detail tab I have about 7 ads that have the Event Type as “Impression.” Does anyone know how I can access these to get the money???
    Thanks!!

  50. #50 Steve |

Thanks Goob. Ring me up for $1.73

  51. #51 donna |

WOW….Love making money without getting out of bed….$2.23 first time. Hope this continues. Thank for the hook up:-)

  52. #52 Becky |

Suh-weet! Just signed up and made $2.98!!! Love it! Thanks a lot Goob!

  53. #53 Shaynon |

it says it pays out on friday, but i am new to this..its almost 7pm est…and my account is still not showing the money…what about anyone else?

  54. #54 fanniefarkle |

FYI, I did have to load the Adobe 5-stack software, which I did even though my mac gave me a warning that I was giving them unrestricted access to my internet activity.

  55. #55 Jean |

Great news! I checked my email, and YouData deposited $1.57 in my Pay Pal acct. I was supposed to get $1.60. Wonder where the 3 cents went? But the money was there!
Thanks, Goob, for letting us know about this. You’re the BEST!

  56. #56 Shaynon |

i take back my comment about asking…lol…they send you an email telling you that your money is now in your account. and they took 3 cents from me too Jean. don’t know y.

  57. #57 fanniefarkle |

Jean, the .03 was the fee that PayPal charges. Some sites that pay you to do surveys, etc. will pay this fee themselves. YouData takes it out of your earnings.

  58. #58 fanniefarkle |

Oh, yeah, the fee amount will vary with the amount to be transfered via PayPal.

  59. #59 angela fletcher |

here is a stupid question. how do you get the money youdata puts onto paypal? does it go onto my card that paypal has on record automatically or do I have to request it?

  60. #60 Jeannie |

I am LOVING this!! Thanks Goob! I signed up last night and made $1.75. I figure since I love to shop on ebay, I’m going to keep everything in my paypal account and use it toward anything I buy on ebay :) Great stuff!

  61. #61 Katherine, WI |

Thanks Goob! I got paid $2.50 for 1 week work less than 5 min!!!! AND…it was actually FUN

  62. #62 jane doe |

thanks, goob. saw this site listed in our paper (the tennessean) a few months back and put it on my never-ending list of sites to check out. finally got around to it and upgraded it to my shortcut favorites folder. i check it pretty often and have to say i love the little presents you’ve given me before, on, and after my birthday. keep on with the good work. i love your site. as for this youdata thing, of COURSE i will take the free money and it’s been really, really super easy. can’t wait for your big post on the free money sites.

  63. #63 Susan |

okay, you need a cell phone, okay, you want my email address, but now I MUST have a paypal account? Sounds like a ruse to get people to start using paypal again!

  64. #64 cmantoo |

I love this site, thanks so much for the info. I already had a paypal account and sign up was so easy. I’ve emailed my friends with the link too. By the way, I love your site! Thanks for making the freebies so easy for us. :)

  65. #65 Michelle |

just a little info…..I too signed up for this, I was excited to make a little money for free. It was easy but today my spyware ran a check and quarantined “30″, yes 30 spywares! and the only conclusion I can come to is it has to be YOUDATA! So just Beware!

  66. #66 Anianna |

Angela Fletcher, it’s not a stupid question. Once your money is in your PayPal account, you can use it for online purchases at auction sites and online retailers that accept PayPal. Otherwise, you can go into your PayPal account and tell it to send your PayPal balance to your bank account PayPal has on file for you. I think somebody mentioned earlier that you can also have PayPal send you a check, but there is a fee for that.

  67. #67 Mary M. |

I just signed up – I love it.
    Earned $2.16 day one!

  68. #68 angela fletcher |

ty Anianna. I have been wondering about that.

  69. #69 Malibu |

GOOB I am having trouble getting past the sign in process. I am stuck after that. My computer seems to freeze. I can’t click on any of the five choices. I know that I’m blonde, but thats by choice. Help Me Please

  70. #70 McCarthy2971 |

I love LOVE love this site! I signed up the other day and had my hubby sign up so were makin double the money!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any other sites worth lookin into? Just no scam sites! Thats why I love HIF there is no worry if its a scam or not it really takes the irritation out of everything!

  71. #71 Goob |

Malibu, what browser are you using? Internet Explorer or Firefox? Whichever one it is, try the other just for the signup process.

I’ve glad so many people got their money this Friday. I told y’all this site was great :D

  72. #72 Grey |

I just signed up and used your name as the referral. Already made $3.01. Thanks! I bet you are raking in a bunch of cash from referrals, eh Goob???

  73. #73 Coventry |

Goob, First I want to thank you for your website. I have been leary of trying to get free products on line, but I feel somewhat more confident with you checking them out first.

I was very skeptical about the YouData site, as I have been unsuccessful in such sites before. They were always way too time consuming for no profit. I just joined Wednesday and there was a deposit in my PayPal account already!Oh, and I did use you as a reference. :) Thank You!!!!

  74. #74 lafevem |

Just received my first payment! Thanks!

  75. #75 Angela |

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents, this is pretty good at first but after a while it will taper off.I have been doing this since feb. and my payment on friday was 17cents

  76. #76 Bruce |

youdata.com is my 2nd favorite website, next to heyitsfree.net !
Goob, do you recommend any other “survey sites”? I mean, do you personally use any others?

  77. #77 LuLu |

I agree with Angela. I got 14 cents this week. That is only 13 cents to paypal.

  78. #78 katy |

I just signed up for Youdata last week, I got $1.11 for the week… not bad for the small amount of time it took. It’s like someone walked up to me and handed me one dollar bill, a dime and a penny. Thanks!

  79. #79 Donna |

I too, cannot click on the ads. I did the download, got all signed up, even immediately received a text giving me an activation number. I don’t want to switch my browser to sign up again, I’m already signed up. What’s up with that lady with her eyes wide open???! Kinda freaky lookin
