Free Lowe’s Kid’s Workshop – Trophy Cup on June 13

Registration is now open online for a free DIY kid's workshop to be held on Saturday, June 13 from 10am-1pm. There are 45 minute time slots and you can pick which window works best for you. Here's the signup link.

So what's the upcoming workshop going to build?

June 2026 Event – Trophy Cup – Celebrate summer victories with a soccer themed Trophy Cup workshop! Builders can create and decorate their own award-worthy soccer trophy to honor their accomplishments, big or small. It’s a great way to boost confidence and creativity through hands-on fun.

These popular free kid's projects with DIY kits available every 2nd or 3rd weekend of each month! The suggested child's age ranges for the Lowe's DIY Kits are between 4-11. All supplies and instructions are included, making it a fun children's task to complete.

New in 2026, Lowe's gives digital badges to kids who complete workshops (though it's important to note only the physical badges count towards the Builder Recognition program). Kids also get a free organic lollipop with every trip by visiting the customer service desk.

Continuing this year, Lowe's gives kids who attend these workshops regularly the ability to earn badges towards a free tool bag! The nitty gritty fine print can be found here, but long story short once you've earned twelve badges, you'll be issued a promotional code redeemable online for a free kid's tool bag or product of similar value.

Other Free Kids Events

This isn't the only upcoming free kids event either! If you're looking for some other freebies, then be sure to check these out.

When are the Lowes Kids Workshops

MyLowe's Rewards™ Kids Workshop are typically held on the second or third Saturday of each month between 10am – 1pm. Each workshop should take around 30-45 minutes to complete.

Who are these free workshops for?

These free kids workshops are intended for children aged 4-11, but honestly that's just a suggestion. It's not like they're checking IDs at the door or anything.

Can I drop my kid off?

No, all kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop events. Unattended children will not be allowed to assemble the free project.

What if we miss the event?

There's no penalty for missing an event, though it's polite to cancel your reservation if you know you won't be able to make it. This allows another child in your community to take the spot, since space is limited.

What's up with the Builder Badges?

In addition to keeping each monthly build event toy, your child will receive a Mini-Builder Badge every time they complete a workshop.

After collecting six badges, they become a Junior Builder. Then upon collecting 12 badges, they graduate to a Senior Builder and earn a free Kobalt tool bag! Once you've collected all 12 badges, go here to state your submission process and receive your bonus freebie.

Here's what they require to get this free tool kit:

  1. You have an official Kids Workshop apron.
  2. 12+ physical badges are attached to the apron.
  3. Your builder's name is written clearly on the apron.
  4. Your photo shows the apron laid flat, with no faces or children visible.

Are there any hidden fees?

Nope! These Workshops are completely free. You will never need to pay in order to reserve your space or participate in the craft. Each monthly event will produce a free toy for your child to take home and never have to pay for.

If anybody ever asks you for payment, do not pay because you don't have to!

Why does Lowe's offer free Kids Workshops?

If you're wondering what's in it for Lowe's, the answer if quite simple – you! Lowe's hosts these free events as a way to get you in the door. You're more likely to buy something once you're in the store – even if it's just a new pack of light bulbs or a small box of nails. A sale if a sale for Lowe's and so they simply offer this

Plus, these events help expose children to basic tools and crafts at a young age, which studies show help them to have a higher chance of being crafty adults once they grow up. And those adults might end up shopping at Lowe's down the road, which pays off again for them.

Lowe's Kids Workshop History

For over a decade, the free Lowe's Build & Grow workshop clinics were a staple monthly freebie. Just like the free Home Depot Kids Workshop, you could take your children to Lowe's on certain weekends and come away with a cool, custom built freebie. They were in-store workshops though, where attendees could make awesome projects right in Lowe's with the provided tools, safety gear, and work space. Then 30 minutes later the kids would always get to take home the cool toy craft they just made along with a collectible commemorative pin. They even gave coupons and discounts to workshop participants!

I've heard from a lot of readers that they've appreciated these free events and I hope you and your family are able to keep enjoying these freebies for many years to come.

  1. I reserved 2 free DIY fire truck kits. I got the email from Lowe’s saying they were in and to come pick it up on oct. 10th or 11th. I went yesterday (oct 10th) to pick the kits up and She said “they didn’t have any left“ … even though I had reserved them a month in advance. I was so disappointed. I explained that I had reserved two kits in September and got an email confirmation etc. she said well, they’re all gone. If you reserve something and get an email saying to come pick the items up, then the it end should be there waiting… very disappointed.

    • Darn, I’m really sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience with this free event, Alicia! I would be pretty disappointed if they did this to me as well.

      • I reserved the bulldozer kits the following month. I didn’t have any problem with that one at all. They asked for my name and for proof that I had reserved it and I showed them the email confirmation and they handed me the kits . They were organized and making sure the people that reserved them got them. I feel like a lot of people must have complained about the fire truck issues bc they were going by the book the following month.

  2. My niece loves these. Just because it’s not on their website for signup doesn’t mean you can’t just show up and sign the paperwork there. They always have plenty.

    • At my store, we run out of the 100 kits they send us each time, usually our registrations are booked up 2 weeks before the clinic. We BEG that you please sign up in advance, nothing like getting there and breaking a kids heart because we ran out of kits.

  3. We made a puppet theater too! They had a firetruck there, the kids watched a fire safety movie, and we made a puppet theater! I guess Punch and Judy were booked!

  4. we went to our lowe’s today – it was supposed to be fire truck day. turns out the fire truck kits were recalled and we got to make a puppet theater. not nearly as awesome as a fire truck, but they did have all the emergency vehicles there so I guess that was cool.

  5. My mother does the Lowe’s Build & Grow in Staunton, VA. Tomrrow is her HUGE yearly firetruck edition (the kids build a firetruck, and she lines up fire, police, and rescue squad participation), Half the parking lot is blocked off so the kids can see the service vehicles. This year she mentioned that this thing is becoming even bigger, with raffles for ATVs (from a third party to raise money for some org.) and other cool stuff going on. She thinks she may have created a monster….

  8. We have been taking our children to Build-N-Grow at our local Lowes for a year now- and my kids LOVE it!! Addie started when she was 3, and now can complete the projects all by herself. I HIGHLY recommend this, especially for any homeschooled children!

  9. You should definitely check with your local Lowe’s to find out if you absolutely have to register beforehand. We don’t require it at our store and we usually have around 100 kids every other Saturday. Don’t want anyone to miss out some last minute Saturday morning fun, thinking they can’t come play because they didn’t register!

  10. My 6 Year Old LOVES these projects. He gets has done the Tic Tac Toe Board, Piggy Bank, and he did the Jewelry Holder for me for Valentine’s day. He is saving and collecting the Patches they give you at each one as well. I think it is great that they offer this. He is really looking forward to his Lowebot tomorrow and the tabletop basketball in a couple of weeks!

I once ate three dog treats before somebody told me they weren’t beef jerky. So in all, I ate five.

  12. I have done several with my kiddos and it is a great bonding experience. For those new people out there that want to give it a try with their kiddos, don’t expect a big project. These are just small kits that the kids put together, but well worth the bonding.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!!!!!!!!

  13. Gotta say, Goob, you rock! Went and got the Halo dog treats last night at Petco and only had to pay the tax. My kids are signed up for the Lowe’s Build and Grow clinic this weekend, where they are making…a dog treat holder!! So, Christmas for Grandpa with the 2 dogs is taken care of for free and handmade by his grandkids – sweet! Thanks for all the deals you uncover, and for making me laugh every day!

  16. This sounds like the perfect “get the kids out of the house so Mommy can have a little me time” Sunday afternoon excursion that my Dad used to take us on, except we didn’t have stores like this, so we went to a lot of museums and hiked in the mountains, both of which tended to tire us out.

  17. Upon completing this project, the kiddos received a patch and a certificate. Also, the Lowes people were wandering around and providing assistance and when the planter was finished, the kids got to fill it with soil and a couple of little grass type plants. Our Lowes had child-sized hammers for the kids to use for this project, also, which did make it a bit easier for the little ones. I forgot to ask them if they sell those there. I’d like to have some of those for our home workshop.

The Lowes instructions were English on one side and Spanish on the other. There were a couple of images that weren’t quite right, so non-reading children need a little extra help to get it right if they’re not the engineering type that can figure out the logic of it themselves. For example, there is one that shows the nails going in on the side instead of on the front where the holes are drilled and where the nails would actually hold the pieces together.

My kids enjoyed it very much and I liked that they got their own pair of safety goggles along with their apron. I highly recommend this freebie along with the Home Depot workshops mentioned last weekend. The kids really love this stuff.
