Free $10 in Schwan’s Food on 8/1

If you’re one of the first 500,000 people to participate in this offer on August 1, you can get $10 in free Schwan’s food. Unfortunately, you don’t qualify if you’ve made a purchase with Schwan in the past 14 weeks, which is a moronic stipulation but I digress. I looked around on the site and there are plenty of items under $10, so depending on the shipping cost, they could very well be free.

Schwan’s is a frozen food home delivery service that has trucks that deliver right to your door. There are no delivery costs, only a $1 charge for gas.

  2. #2 Goob |

Oh, they don’t charge for shipping? Good to know, thanks Christine!

  3. #3 Smilie |

I just talked to a Schwan Rep, he says it costs $1 shipping if a Rep delivers it to your home.
It will cost about $15 to get it delivered via Fedex or UPS if you dont have a Rep in your area.

  4. #4 sharon |

cant wait to try this one

  5. #5 michelle |

but you have to be in an existing route for the delivery. check your zip code.

  6. #6 michelle |

is there a minimum purchase for a delivery?

  7. #7 Eunsol |

Wait so you have to pay for something ?

  8. #8 Tara |

I’m not finding it on the site? Help?

  9. #9 Mary |

I received a free $25 certificate some time ago and they visit you and do a semi-hard sell to have you buy other stuff…and they come back to see if you want more.

  10. #10 Niki |

my mom used to get food delivered. its pretty good stuff. the ice cream is the best. i saw on the site they are having a sale 2 icecreams for $10. im not sure if this qualifies but it might be worth a try. they dont come to your house if they arent making a delivery. they dont waste the gas.

  11. #11 tanya |

    nothing mentioned at their site.

  12. #12 tanya |

they just posted that it will start at noon.

  13. #13 Eva |

Just got mine! The promo kicked in at 10 AM Pacific time. The site was slow (probably because all of you were on it, too!) but it seemed to work. I didn’t have to enter a credit card number, but I think you would if you want them to leave the package at your door in a freezer back $4.95. I didn’t see anything about the $1 charge mentioned by others above.

  14. #14 Tina |

Yay! Just got some free grilled cheese toastwiches for my kids. It was $8.99 – no charge for fuel or anything – my order total was $0.00. We used to order from them a while ago and always enjoyed the food. Thanks for posting this.

  15. #15 Eva |

Aha, here’s more info from the confirmation email I just received:

We value our relationship with you and strive to provide
the highest quality service possible. In an effort to
offset rising energy costs without major price increases,
a $1 delivery fee may be added to your order at the time
of delivery depending on your location. We will continue
to deliver the same level of service that you have come
to expect from us. Thank you for your business.

  16. #16 Shannon |

I put in my zip and it goes right back to the same screen

  17. #17 Gina |

I got the philly cheesesteak pouches.

My order total was 0. I went on right at 10:00 and it took about 12 minutes to complete my order(not bad)

  18. #18 JoAnn |

YIPEE!! Just got mine! It took about 20 minutes but I got my teenage son some afterschool snacks! My balance was $0 and the scheduled deliver is today! Thanks for the post!

  19. #19 Meghan |

this freebie is wack! they want a credit card #, and los angeles not eligible

  20. #20 Terry |

Yep Got 1/2 gallon of chocolate ice cream for 2 cents. What a deal

  21. #21 LuLu |

For 5.00 I got 48 ice cream bars. They added another 5.00 discount to my order of 19.99.

I then made another account for my mother-in-law, and for 8 cents sent her low-cal fudge bars.

  22. #22 LuLu |

Meghan, they deliver to Los Angeles and offer you an option to pay when delivered. No credit card needed.

  23. #23 lizzy |

well in the email confirmation i got it says at time of delivery your tax will be calculated. I wonder what there tax rate is? plus you will be charged $1 for delivery. So I assume that you have to pay taxes on this item. even though i had only spent 7.99 Its still a good deal but NOT COMPLETELY FREE GOOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. #24 Denise |

Is anybody else getting a sales tax total of like 6 cents?? I gotta put 6 cents on my visa card??? LOL I think I will leave this one alone :(

  25. #25 Denise |

Never mind…I see where I can just pay the man 6 cents when he delivers my order.

  26. #26 jill |

omg i almost totally forgot about this till just now and thank goodness wasnt to late i ordered 2lb bag tater tots lol i couldnt think of anything else but hey they are free.

  27. #27 Jen |

Anyone else getting an error message at checkout?

  28. #28 map spelled backwards |

VICTORY! Had to be patient (not by virtue!) at checkout but finally got it done! I took a responsible glance at their veggie selections (seemed like the right thing to do…) but quickly jumped on over to the ICE CREAM where – because it’s 90+ degrees here in way too sunny Florida – I ordered a 10 count package of BIG, FAT, CARAMEL ICE CREAM BARS DUNKED IN CHOCOLATE on sticks that will be delivered to my door in a matter of days ABSOLUTELY FREE! No hidden costs whatsoever (in my zip anyway!). Tra~La!~

  29. #29 becky |

Thanks for the hook up. What a cool deal. Didnt even have to pay for shipping!

  30. #30 michelle |

what a sweeeet deal! but NOOOOOOOOO, I couldnt’t just get the freebie, I had to order a few more things. I guess thats what the company is hoping for! I can’t wait to try this !

  31. #31 annoying |

Didn’t work for me – had me type in my zip, said I was eligible and hit “continue shopping,” chose $10 worth of stuff, hit “checkout,” it asked me to create an account, then said I didn’t qualify because I now had an account and therefore was an existing customer! What?! I’ve never used Schwan’s in my life – and sure won’t now!

  32. #32 Joe |

I got chicken & veggies free @ $9.99, plus ordered fish to cook on the grill. I’m on a route and see them in the area. Delivery will be Monday!
    Thanks Goob

  33. #33 Marcia Carter |

They didn’t make it plain until I checked out, that the ten dollars is single item only and will not take the ten off a more expensive item. I am encouraging everyone to let them know we are NOT happy until they honor the spirit of the offer OR make it plain at the qualifying screen how it works. I will NOT be promoting their business and will be posting on ALL my social networks about how unclear & unfair I think their practices are!

  34. #34 Joe |

    Marcia Carter
I ordered a $9.99 item for my Mom, just created an account for her. At checkout it was free, she’ll have to pay tax when dropped off is all. Try again, you might have done it wrong, she got a single item.

  35. #35 Veronica |

Marcia, everyone else is VERY HAPPY about free food. Don’t make it complicated, its not very nice. Schwan’s can do whatever they want- I mean, they’re giving away $10 worth of food. I believe we should be more thankful for what we get and stop being so spoiled!

  36. #36 r |

Be warned, a friend of mine says they solicit you to buy more… and frequently visit your home well after you have received your order. After hearing that, I don’t know if I would have participated.

  37. #37 map spelled backwards |

It’s a FREE offer (no arm twisting)! When you follow the very clear details of the offer which states upfront that the offer is valid on a SINGLE item priced at $10 or less it’s a quick and easy process! Of course they’re going to use our info to solicit further business! What do you think all this FREE stuff is about? When they attempt to do so – simply insert a backbone and tell them NICELY to please remove you from their system/route. And, yes, gratitude is a beautiful thing!

  38. #38 Lucy |

omg, what a bargain.. i ordered the 4 chicken pot pies and the 2 chicken enchiladas and the total is just $8.98. that is less than $1.50 a piece.. thanks HIF..

  39. #39 Cathy |

i got the fiesta lime chicken for 9.99 and total is $0. my friends who are already customers say their rep just gives them a call when he is going to be in their area to see if they need anything, no hassle. of course the idea is to increase business and create new customers. That’s alot of food they are giving away. Thanks Goob!

  40. #40 Anna |

Same thing happened to me as to #31 (annoying). I have no idea what I did wrong.

  41. #41 Arvilla |

I keep ending up with a page that says sign in. Could someone please tell me step by step what to do ? After I pick my item I get hung up. Thanks!

  42. #42 Jess |

I ordered 16 corn dogs for the most picky 6 year old in the world.. I had no problems checking out, the e-mail confirmation said the same thing about they “may charge $1 depending on my area” but hopefully they will not, since the 2 people across the street from me get a delivery from them weekly! We used to order from them often, they would just call us randomly to see if we wanted to order anything, nothing pushy, just trying to promote their business!

  43. #43 michelle |

getting my order delivered on thursday, aug 6! can’t wait!

  44. #44 Tanya |

I ordered some onion rings which had high reviews. My total showed up $0.00. I didn’t see anything about a $1.00 fee. Even if they do charge it, it is still a great deal!!!

  45. #45 Jennifer Lieberman |

Just placed the order for stuffed shells at $9.99. I have to pay 3 cents for tax and they “may” charge $1 for fuel surcharges, but it’s not for sure until they deliver. Still, even if I pay $1.03 for something that supposed to serve 8, I can’t complain. :) I’m in northern VA.

  46. #46 Donna |

Wow!! I just ordered 16 corndogs, will be delivered to my door in 2 days, absolutely free!! No delivery charge or anything. They only ask for your CC info if you want it delivered in a freezer bag, to be left at your door if you aren’t home. Otherwise, it’s totally free!!!!! There are alot of things under $10. Thanks!

  47. #47 map spelled backwards |

My ice cream bars are here! My ice cream bars are here! Woo-Hoo! Delivered to my door ABSOLUTELY FREE! It’s 90+ degrees here in way too sunny Florida – so – we’re having free ice cream bars for dessert!

    Thanks Goob!

  48. #48 jan |

ok – so maybe I can’t figure this out, is there a promo code and if so what is it? I can’t get the site to show the $10.00 credit. Please help

  49. #49 schwansguy |

Just a little FYI The delivery fee will not apply to your first order, you never need to put in your credit card info (we accept cash, checks, EBT cards, or credit/debit right at your door), and also I would bet that there aren’t many schwan’s guys out there that are going to charge you the 8 cents. Its just a promo to get you to try an item and let us explain how schwan’s works. By the way it is an awesome service and we carry tons of awesome product that are well worth the $

  50. #50 bethaneee |

Like #40, and #49, and #31 – never bought from Schwan’s before; created an account; added an item for $9.98; went to My Cart; not showing any discount, shows I owe that full $9.98 plus tax plus delivery. Talked to a rep on LiveChat, said I was an existing customer and not eligible. Do what now?
I smell rip-off. Thanks to HIF, but no thanks to Schwan’s.. glad it worked for some ppl, though. *grumble grumble*
