Free 2010 Wildlife Calendar

You know Christmas is closer than you realize when the free calendar offers start popping up, such as this free 2010 Wildlife calendar. I’ve noticed that calendar freebies are like t-shirts – one in ten arrive and chances are it’s a size too big or year too late. If a 2009 calendar arrived on my doorstep tomorrow, I’d be the 19th most surprising thing of my day. And I lead a pretty uneventful life, so that’s saying a lot.

Got this email from Wildlife Forever today regarding my request for a free calendar:

Wildlife Forever was amazed at response from outdoor enthusiasts like you to our offer for a free wildlife calendar. Only 1,500 requests were expected but nearly 100 times that many were received with 130,000 requests. The response was literally overwhelming.
We were hoping to find a way to sent a calendar to everyone, but the money was just not available and we are unable to send you a free calendar.
    We sincerely apologize.
It is our hope that this experience does not reduce your enthusiasm and support for fish and wildlife conservation.
Clearly, Wildlife Forever is not so good at giving away free calendars but we are very good at helping wildlife. Wildlife Forever has successful conservation projects in your state.
