460+ Free Audio Books
Audiobooks.net is offering over 460 free audio books to anybody who wants to download them. I have a rather lengthy road trip coming up soon, so hopefully I’ll be able to put some of these to good use and not go mad with boredom. Not to be confused with going mad with anger, which is actually kind of fun as long as there are nearby objects you can punch.
You have to sign up for a free account, but there’s no software to download. Just log in and start downloading whatever you want.
It might be worth mentioning to people to ignore the advertisement for Audible.com and click the Register link in the upper right corner, or just link to the Register page instead.

WOW, they have the “War of the Worlds” and “Around the World in 80 Days” Mercury Theater recordings!!
Is there any way to tell if these are the abridged or the unabridged versions? I’ve been looking for an unabridged “Tale of Two Cities,” but I’m pretty busy reading “The Mysterious Island” at the moment, so if someone was looking to download it, could they let me know?
to KFM: if you look at the “more info” tab for “Tale of Two Cities,” you’ll see it’s 16+ hours. There’s also a shorter book (1 hour), so it appears that the long version is unabridged. Thanks for the tip on “War of the Worlds.” Love it.
I have tried 3 times, and rejoined, without ever receiving an email back. I have a Mac, and maybe that might be the problem, but I do not know. What do you think might be my problem?
