Free Harvard Business Review Magazine

EDIT: Darn, they already ran out of supplies.

If you take a short survey about your cell phone habits, you can get a free Harvard Business Review magazine subscription from RewardsGold. I’ve never read an issue of this before, but it’s described as a magazine for “business leaders” and a subscription costs $80 on Amazon!

I’m not much of a leader though. I can’t even get my family to follow me in going caroling. They keep using the same tired, old excuses of “we can’t sing” and “it’s too cold” or “hey, Goob’s had enough eggnog, let’s throw him in the snow and see how long he can last.”

Free $4 Amazon Video On Demand Credit

If you think of Amazon.com, you probably don’t think of their movie streaming section where you can rent movies to watch immediately on your computer. But they’re hoping to change that with a holiday gift in the form of a free $4 Amazon video on demand credit.

In order to get it, simply go to that page and enter the code AVODGIFT. You’ll then be able to pick up to $4 worth of movies to stream on your computer for free. For references, there are just under 100 new-release movies priced at only $2.99 along with some cheaper movies for as low at $0.99.

The credit expires on January 3, 2010, but I’m thinking it might make for a nice break if you get a little overwhelmed during the holidays. After last night’s festivities, I have a feeling my liver will launch a counterattack any day now.

Buy a Giftcard, Get a Freebie

As we come down the Christmas home stretch, some of us still have a little shopping to do. *looks around sheepishly* One easy present is always gift cards and at this time of year, stores are offering freebies on top of them! Below, I’ve compiled a list of every such joint that I could find.

Most of these freebies are a “bonus card” instead of a “gift card,” which basically means that they’re one-time use only. As opposed to a gift card, a bonus card doesn’t carry a balance. So, for instance, if you had a $5 bonus card, you’d want to use it on a purchase that was over $5, so that you could use the entire card. If you tried to use it on a purchase of $3, then your purchase would be free, but you’d also be losing out on $2.

And as always, please make sure you read the fine print. Most of these have expiration dates as soon as February and March. Also, many of the rewards cards have the stipulation that they cannot be used to purchase alcohol.

Oh yeah, this list is pretty repetitive and boring. I realized halfway through that most of the stores were offering only slight variations of the same freebies, so they all read more or less the same. You may want to simply scan the list and look for any stores you might be interested in buying a card from.

Abercrombie – Make a $100 purchase in-store and get a $25 gift card! They’re also running a $200/$50 offer.

Applebee’s – Buy $50 in gift cards and get a $10 bonus card.

Benihana – Buy $50 in gift cards and get a $10 bonus card.

Bonefish Grill – Buy $100 worth of gift cards and you’ll (A) get a $20 rewards card and (B) be entered into a contest to win $5,000.

Bruster’s – They have a few different deals going: a free $5 gift card with the purchase of a $25 gift card, as well as $10/$50 and $20/$100.

Buca Di Beppo – Get a $25 reward card for every $100 in gift card purchases.

Buffalo Wild Wings – Buy a $25 gift card and get $5 back (though I can’t tell if this is in cash or reward card form).

Current Facebook Freebies for 12/21/09

Facebook Freebies

Here’s a list of the current Facebook Freebie offers I could find. And as always, if you’re not already a fan of Hey, It’s Free on Facebook, then what are you waiting for?

First up, you can get a free pint of International Delight coffee creamer if you’re one of the first 100,000 fans on their page. They currently only have 32,000~, so most Hiffers should get in. If you remember, they held a similar offer for the first 25,000 fans back on December 4th and I not only already received my coupon, but am halfway through the creamer! Once you join up, click on the “Holiday Giveaway” tab and then you’ll be able to print the coupon.

Next up is Jimmy Dean, who will e-mail you a printable coupon for $1 off their delicious product. Their oh-so scrumptious….savory….mmmmmm. Oh, sorry about that. [via Pocket Your Dollars - thanks!]

Finally, NyQuil is giving away a free t-shirt if you fan their page, submit a photo of yourself sleeping for their contest (okay, I’m a bit creeped out here.) and then get five of your friends to vote for you.

Deal: $5 Magazine Subscriptions

Well look at that, Amazon has a bunch of $5 magazine subscriptions up again! It’s not the best selection, but it’s better than only having one option like last week.

  • Coastal Living
  • Essence
  • Golf Magazine
  • Health
  • Southern Living
  • Sunset
  • This Old House

In addition, Entertainment Weekly and InStyle are on sale for $10 each, which is 90 and 81% off respectively. Although I’m sure you have no reason for either, because I’m your weekly source of entertainment and fashion tips! In fact, here’s this week’s nugget: instead of pants and a shirt, try wearing a barrel with shoulder straps. It’s the perfect conversation starter!

Free Non-Christmas Music

In my quest to find some free non-Christmas music earlier this week, I first stumbled across NPR’s All Songs Considered blog, which has tunes you can both listen to and download for free.

Next up, I found free music from Parachute Festival, which lets you download the following songs.

  • Falling Up – Streams of Woe at Acheron
  • Family Force 5 – Dance or Die (The Secret Handshake Remix)
  • Hillsong United – No Reason to Hide
  • Leeland – Count Me In
  • Parachute Band – Shout It Out
  • Rapture Ruckus – One
  • Switchfoot – Mess of Me
  • Underoath – Writing On The Walls

And finally, you can pick up a free live Sara Bareilles album by joining her mailing list. The only downside is that the file is one, giant 31 minute long track with all of the songs included on it. So that’s kind of weird. But hey, it’s free, and it’ll keep me entertained for a while, so I’m not complaining!

Free Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic on 12/19

The next free Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic is this Saturday, December 19, and it looks like they’ll be building a little pet treat keeper1, which looks kind of cool. Hiffer Ruth is even planning on using it as part of a Christmas present, which sounds like a great idea.

Just make sure you don’t fill it with anything that resembles human food. I once ate three dog treats before somebody told me they weren’t beef jerky. So in all, I ate five.

[via the freebie calendar]

  1. on Jan. 9, they’re making a coin bank, which looks AWESOME! []

Free Mariani Dried Plums

Well here’s a first. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a plum, let alone free Mariani dried plums via Sam’s Club. Hopefully these don’t try to kill me. The only plum I’ve ever encountered was a professor and he was always trying to beat me over the head with a candlestick in the kitchen.

Make sure you enter the code SUPERFRUIT when prompted.

Free Personalized Video from Santa

This free personalized video from Santa isn’t a typical freebie in that it’s just a video that plays online and includes some info that you input. However, it’s at least a few minutes long, so that should buy you enough time to take one of the world’s shortest naps!

Free Princess & The Frog Music

EDIT: Looks like that only lasted for a few hours. Sorry!

You can download four free songs from Disney’s new Princess and the Frog movie by using code RK4F3TM. I haven’t seen the movie yet, so I don’t know how it ends, but I’m gonna guess everybody lives happily ever after. Call it a hunch.
