Free Emergency Preparedness Food

Free Prepare Then Share Food

EDIT: I received an e-mail stating that they’re now charging $3.95 for shipping. Booooo.

The idea behind these free emergency preparedness food packs are noble (seriously, everybody should have a GOOD bag), but you know they’re only going to send one sample. I’ve only got to worry about myself and my dogs, so one’s plenty for me.

But let’s pretend I’m back home for the holidays and yada yada, we’re all trapped with only one pack of rations. Who gets it? Some would argue the children get first dibs, starting with the youngest. Others might reluctantly point out that if adults are to dig us out, they’ll need all the energy they can get. And what about those who are most injured and need the food for strength? Well don’t worry, I’ve thought this out carefully and…

I get it!1 These so called “family members” should have been more loyal readers of HIF and gotten their own!

  1. Before I get angry letters, I’d like to state for the record that I’d of course give out my rations to the Gooblings first. []

Definitely interesting. I’m hoping the sample package tells me how long each package is good for during storage. I can’t seem to find an expiration date anywhere on the site. It definitely makes a difference if I can store the items for 6 months, a year, 3 years etc.

The problem, for me, isn’t that they only send one sample. The problem is that someday, and probably someday soon, I’ll end up hungry but having not gone grocery shopping, and I won’t feel like going at that time, so I’ll just eat the damn thing then. And then when there’s an emergency, I’m screwed.

Hmm, I want this but don’t like giving companies my phone number…

    Make one up!

If you read the “Join the Team” page, this sounds like a MLM (multi-level marketing) set up. You know, like Amway.

I would strongly suggest giving a fake phone number.
Unless you truly do “want to help your loved ones and community prepare for the unexpected while earning great money?”

I think the same thing will happen to me, Gabs. Sometimes there’s absolutely no food at all here (but always plenty of beer).

Heyy, that’s the same way I feel about MY family!
