HIF Contest: Free $50 Gift Card

Remember the 100,000 days of free drinking water campaign that P&G Give Health was running? Well I’m proud to announce that they reached their goal weeks before their deadline and that Hiffers alone contributed 7325 days! That’s over 20 years of free drinking water. As a bonus, P&G will add an additional day to their 100,000 count for each new fan they receive on Facebook through January 31, 2011.

I can’t tell you how proud I am of our little community. For years we’ve been getting freebies for ourselves and yet when it came time to help out those in need, so many of y’all stepped up and took just a few minutes out of your day to make a difference. Rock the eff on!

Now for the even better part. P&G gave me a $50 prepaid American Express gift card for every 1,000 people I got to participate. For the math dunces out there, that means I now have seven $50 gift cards! While some webmasters might pocket a few, I’ll be giving them all away to Hiffers because y’all deserve them way more than I do.

So for today’s gift card, leave a comment on this post and let me know what your favorite holiday treat is. For instance, mine is anything that’s 90% sugar. I’ll use Random.org to pick a comment on Friday, December 24, at 8:00pm est and email the winner! And seriously, thanks again to everyone who helped make a free donation.

Honestly, my new favorite holiday treat is sushi. I’m serious – I just rediscovered my love for sushi and have decided to make it a new tradition at my house for the Holidays (because frankly, the Christmas ham is just so….pedestrian).

If you’re new to sushi, or have an opposition to seafood (raw or otherwise), give Tamago a try. I’d try to explain how tasty it is, but I’m certain that my description wouldn’t do it justice, and I’d only be depriving you of some of the wonder that comes with trying something new, but I promise that it’s delicious and you won’t regret giving it a taste.

    Joyous Festivus, and Happy Holidays.

They are a cake like brownie w/ holes poked in it all over. Then there is a chocolate icing poured all over the warm brownies that drizzles down in all the holes. The really hard part of dessert is deciding whether to eat the brownies while still warm or wait for a while till set and then eat them.
I tend to do both. It’s the holidays and those brownies don’t come around too often.

Since I am pinoy is a Filipino Lechon.

The name Lechon was derived from the Spanish word meaning suckling pig, which is a piglet that is killed between the ages of two to six weeks and traditionally roasted. But unlike a suckling pig, a Philippine Lechon is usually a whole adult roasted pig.

    Oreo Balls:
1 package of Oreos, Crushed (I use a food processor)
1 package of softened cream cheese
1 package of chocolate almond bark
Mix the crushed Oreos and the cream cheese together until it’s like a dough.
Make small balls out of the dough. Melt the almond bark in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave. Dip the balls in the melted almond bark and place on wax paper to dry.
I like to keep these in the fridge.

My favorite treat is the cheap werthers originals candy box I get every Christmas. Stay with me here! I never justify trying chocolates at random unless I know I already like them, but I go blind with the werthers. If I don’t like it – right to the garbage. And why not? It was a gift from santa. : )
