Free $5 Amazon Video Credit

EDIT: This is no longer available.

If you have a Twitter account (and judging from the 57,000 of you following HIF, you do!) then use it to get a free $5 Amazon video on demand credit. After clicking the yellow “Tweet and get $5 button,” it’ll link your Twitter and Amazon accounts together and then you should get a confirmation screen saying the credit has been applied to your account.

You can use this credit to “rent a new release movie, catch up on recent TV seasons, or even watch your favorite TV shows the day after they air.” And if you want to unlink your accounts, well then check out this handy guide I wrote a while back.

[thanks Robn!]

you have to click the link and then when you are routed to the amazon website sign in on your amazon account and then click the button for the $5 credit and it will open a new window to route you to twitter where you have to click a button to allow the app to post to your twitter account… hope this helps

How can I see what my balance is? I know I’ve done it before, but can’t figure out how to see it now.

I’m with Sarah. I can find my gift card balance but this isn’t showing up anywhere.

On various Amazon media pages (Video on Demand, mp3, and Kindle), you’ll find a button at some place on the page that reads “View Balance” next to or as part of a button that reads “Redeem a gift card or promotion code?” On mp3 pages, it is a combined button below the purchase buttons on the upper right. On Video on Demand pages, it is next to the “Redeem . . .” button at the bottom of the black box with the video description. All of these buttons bring up the same floating box with the following information:

Redeem Your Amazon Gift Card or Promotional Code Close
View your current gift card and digital promotional balance or enter a new claim code below.
Promotion codes offering a percent-off discount are not reflected in Your Balances. Learn more.

I don’t find the button on book, CD, DVD/Blu Ray or Kindle pages even though it does show the balance for Gift Cards which also can easily be found elsewhere. I’ve never understood why Amazon pages are so haphazard and inconsistent in design, whether due different departments having different styles or as part of a deliberate strategy. They certainly make it difficult to find credit balances and impossible to learn any expiration dates of the credits.
