Freebies and free stuff

I keep telling myself that I want to get back to the gym. I was close to convincing myself too tonight, to be honest, and then I sat down and watched The Captains on Netflix. Yes, I could have watched it at the gym with the wifi there, but I couldn’t eat dinner that way.

So maybe getting this free Vega Sport sample pack will help motivate me. Or maybe it’ll just give me something to consume instead of dinner then next time I decide to watch 90 minutes of William Shatner flagullating his ego…

Man, for three weeks worth of freebies, there aren’t that many. At least they are some nice freebies. I wore my Wendy’s shirt yesterday and spritzed a little of the Armani cologne on today. Because you’ve got to smell nice when you spend all day alone in your apartment.

Tiny Prints is offering a free Santa Card through their Facebook page today. You can choose between the Santa’s Scroll and the Checkin’ it Twice cards to send to yourself for free (or pay $0.44 to send to somebody else). All you have to do is use XMASFB at checkout then try to think of a way to explain why Santa would be sending out greeting cards.

Are you kidding me? Another limited freebie to the first 100,000 people?! This time it’s a free Scoth-Brite Greener clean scrub on Facebook and … oh boy. I got nothing. Screw Flanders, screw Flanders, screw Flanders.

Actually, what’s going on in that image? Is that a coffee ring being cleaned up? Who sets their coffee next to 30 rolls of paper towels? That has “Accident Waiting to Happen” written all over it.

The first 100,000 to sign up on AllYou will get some free AmLactin body lotion. I hate these limited freebies because that means the longer I take to think of something funny, the fewer Hiffers will be able to sign up. I don’t do well under pressure. It’s why the final six pages of my senior thesis was nothing but “Screw Flanders.”

The signup process for free TRESemme shampoo is rather painless. Like them on Facebook, click next, have your buddy pop up in a chat and ask a fantasy football question, spend the next 20 minutes looking at minutiae statistics, notice the girl you used to cheat off of in Chemistry class had a kid, decide you need to update your status because it’s been a while, fruitlessly think of something funny then say “screw it” and go grab some coffee, sit back down and have no idea what it was you were originally supposed to be doing, read this post and remember the free shampoo, fill out the form and viola! It couldn’t be any smoother.

So while the newsletter will get to a lot of people by 3pm EST, I can only hope that someone logs in and catches this free Bruegger’s coffee today till 2pm. If not? Well, I guess I can blame it on not having enough coffee to wake me up, right?

Here’s another Facebook freebie, but this time it’s not embarrassing nor do you have to leave it on your profile for 60 days! In order to get this free Weleda Facial care sample, simply Like them, click Next, then fill out the form. I went with the Pomegranate Firming lotion since they’re “grown organically under the warm sun in Turkey.” That’s about as close to visiting Turkey I’ll get this year. I can put a stamp in my passport now, right?

Facebook freebies are always interesting ones. Take this free Billy Boy condom one. Its fairly simple: you like them, they send you a freebie. Right? Well, if you read the fine print, you have to keep liking them for 60 days. So while you can easily delete this silly like, well, you’re stuck liking a condom page for 2 months.

Let’s just hope your s.o. understands… So if you’re single? You miiiiight want to steer clear of this one, or have a pretyped explanation ready to go. I haven’t been on the dating seen in quite some time, but I don’t think that having condom webpages liked or linked is really a turn on or a pick up line. Just sayin’…
