Freebies and free stuff

Usually we like to test the freeibes before we post them. That way, well, we have an idea of how it reacts and how many are available and that its not dead yet.

Unfortunately, this free Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions sample goes live on August 10th. Does that mean midnight EST? Noon? I couldn’t tell you. But I can tell you that its still technically available, just not available to request until the 10th. And that because we know it goes live on August 10th, it’ll soon be good. Oh, and I can also tell you that you’re reading about this here now and you should have already clicked.

A long while back, Goob told me that part of my job requirements for writing for HIF including excessive drinking before posting. Needless to say after a few beers and some NCAA 2007 on my PS2–playing as my alma mater, the UCF Knights–and I think I’m in the mood for a snack. Something like this free Somersault snack sample. Alas, it’ll take 7-10 days, and I don’t have enough beers to get me through till it’ll arrive. I might just have to stop drinking and sober up…

I’ll listen to and play almost anything musically. Seriously. If my statement there wasn’t evidence enough, I just filled in on bass guitar for a vocal group that was playing Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and a ton of classic fun dancing songs like “The Twist” and “Locomotion.” Yup. The grunge/indie songwriter me sat in on bass guitar.

But what I’m finding even cooler than that is this free Celtic music sampler. I’ll listen to anything. Really. Especially because all I have stuck in my head now is Jonas Brother’s “Play My Music”…

I went to the Warped Tour once. It was back in Orlando in 2002. I skipped out on watching Good Charlotte to see Orlando local band Unsung Zeros play on a small side stage. Much better show than the big stage.

Needless to say, none of these bands on this free 2009 Vans Warped Tour sampler really ring a bell with me. Other than NOFX and Bad Religion. I guess that means I’m really getting old…

We always try to get on the freebie train early, but sometimes they just fall right under our noses. Like this delicious smelling and looking free Baby Blossom at Texas Roadhouse with this coupon. Yup. Through tomorrow–August 3–this coupon works. So if you happen to be heading near one? I’d say head on in with the coupon and get a sweet tea or two (if you decide to bring someone to share it with, seeing today is Friendship Day) and just relax.

And yes, I said delicious smelling. I’ve been sniffing my monitor for the past twenty minutes and trying not to drool on my keyboard…

To say that 3D movies have been making a comeback would be an understatement. Though, I think its been everything other than the Red-Blue stereophonic glasses (although I did like the gag in Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraiser), so these new 3D movie glasses are worth a grab! Even if for the very least to walk around all day wearing them and making Mork and Mindy jokes…

JCPenny seems to be doing a lot recently… From adding a store a few blocks down from the flagship Herald’s Square Macy’s to giving away this free tank top? I don’t know what they’ll do next.

I’m assured, however, that it won’t be put a man on the moon. Or so my sources tell me…

Its hard to believe that today’s August 1st. I mean, seriously, where has this year gone? One year ago today, I had just moved in with my in-laws for a half a month before moving half-way across the country. And if you were to ask me where I thought I’d be a year ago? I certainly wouldn’t have told you that I’d be doing what I’m doing now. Thankfully, I’ve got my trusty Majestic Mountains calendar to keep track of my work schedule and all of those other wonderful things!

But when that runs out in 4 more months, well, I hope that this free Annies 2010 calendar does the job. Yup, I just needed to give them the UPC from a Mac & Cheese box (013562302109) and tell them that I bought that box today (08/01/09) or later, and I’ll be keeping track of my next year on a calendar with bunnies and noodles.

Larry Scott must be famous if he has his picture with Arnold. Needless to say, I still haven’t heard of the dude, but if he has a free exercise DVD for your potbelly? Sure, I’ll sign up for it. I can use it as a coaster for my beer…

I’ve added an eBook to my list of “wants” for this holiday season. The sad truth is? I just don’t really read hardly as much as I could/should. Why, while I request all of these free books, I just don’t ever get around to reading them, and I don’t know which book to bring with me whenever I head out.

Enter this free eBook reader that Barnes and Noble has. It has 6 classic eBooks for free, so its a good start, I guess. It’ll give me 6 more options to ignore reading at my choice. Sure, I know that there’s also books to buy there, but look past that… its all about the free!

I miss living in Orlando some days, honestly. While I love the cozy little midwest town I live in, there was something amazing about living only about an hour’s drive from the ocean in a fairly major touristy city. Or maybe it was just because there were a lot of good sushi restaurants and lord knows that the rice wine vinegar that they use with their sticky rice is darn near perfect.

Maybe I can hope to find something good to do with some of my own when I get this free rice wine vinegar recipe booklet. The only problem would be finding fresh fish… Maybe I should just make sushi with corn… There’s plenty of that here.

The other day at work I had a need for latex/plastic gloves similar to these free Microflex gloves. And I’ll leave it simply at me wearing a black suit with a blue shirt and blue-ish tie, with the situation involving an associate saying “baby poo” in a french accent and you can fill in the details with your own imagination.

Or if that doesn’t work, just imagine that Goob needs these whenever he sits down at the computer to work on the back-end of HIF. Okay, that sounds just as bad…

I think there’s pomegranate in everything nowadays. I don’t know what new product isn’t putting it in it, and this free Total Blueberry Pomegranate cereal is no exception to that rule. Next thing you know, we’ll have pomegranate milk. Lovely.

The more freebies that I see, the more they all look the same to me. Why, take this free sample of Gain with Febreeze. I could have sworn I’ve seen it before. I could have sworn that I’ve seen a spanish version of it too. But maybe its just because that’s all I see wherever I go: free. I swear, I must count mailpersons with free laundry detergent samples on nights I have a hard time sleeping…
