Free Amazon Price Check App and $15

Amazon has updated their free Price Check app for your iPhone or your Android. Long story short, it lets you scan a product while shopping to see what the price is on Amazon.

For today only, Saturday December 10, you can get up to $15 on Amazon for free. You get a a 5% discount, up to $5 and on up to three items, just by checking a price. So let’s say you’re planning to buy a digital camera for a Christmas gift. If you’re going shopping today, swing by Best Buy or whoever else sells the camera, scan it with your Price Check app, then place the camera in your shopping cart on Amazon. If you then decide to purchase the camera on Amazon within the next 24 hours, you’ll get a 5% discount (up to $5) on it for free. And then you can do that again for two more additional items.

It’s kind of weird and complicated, but I know people are buying larger items this time of year and $15 is $15. The hardest part of all this for me is getting dressed and actually venturing out into the real world. *shudders*

Free Kindle Books

I bought a Kindle last summer and promptly let it gather dust in my desk for a few months. Flash forward to January. I get snowed in, the power goes out, and I discover my impulse buy while rooting around for candles. I haven’t put it down since. I’m the only person who gets addicted to an electronic device during a power outage.

Luckily I’m not lacking for stuff to read thanks to all the free Kindle books that are available. They add a few dozen every week and it can honestly get overwhelming to go through them all. You can check out the top 100 Best Selling free Kindle books, but make sure you’re looking at the ones in the right column.

And remember, you don’t actually have to own a Kindle. You can download the free app to your PC, Mac, iPhone, and Android, among others.

Free 1,000 Minutes for AT&T Users

If you’ve watched 10 minutes of broadcast television lately then you know the iPhone is now on Verizon’s network. It used to be only available for AT&T users so you had bajillions of people using their network despite hating the company’s horrendous service. Well now as a “thank you” to people not jumping ship over to Verizon, AT&T users can text yes to 11113020 and have their account credited with 1,000 free bonus rollover minutes.

Napster just posted on their Facebook page that anybody can get a free 1GB Creative Zen MP3 player by commenting of their status about the first concert you ever saw. You have to mention who it was, what year it occurred, and where it was held. After you’ve done so, send an email to blogger@napster.com with your name and address and make sure to put EWW 7/7 in the subject line.

They’re also offering this through their Twitter page. Simple follow them, tweet the same info as requested above, and then email your info.

A 1 gig MP3 player isn’t that big, but it should be more than enough to hold all of my High School Musical soundtrack CDs! What can I say, I like to rock out while I’m working.

I have absolutely no idea what this free Nuclear Tipping Point DVD is, but this is right up my alley. I have an unhealthy addiction to anything “end of the world” related. I always order nuclear flavored hot wings simply because of their name and then am shocked by how hot they are. Every. Single. Time.

If you’re never played the game Portal, you’re really missing out. It’s a crazy game that … I don’t even know how to explain it. The object is to get from room to room and your only weapon is a little gun that zap you around. Okay, that makes it sound stupid, but trust me when I say it’s one of the better puzzle games out there.

Making it even better is that from now until May 24, you can download it onto your PC or Mac for free via Steam. The download is fairly large, so you might want to start it before you go to bed.

This free crock-pot recipe e-book has 33 total recipes in it and I couldn’t be happier. I just may live through the winter now! I don’t know who invented the crock-pot, but they deserve an award. It’s literally a magic pot – I throw in a bunch of raw ingredients in the morning and by dinner time, I have something edible and tasty. Why don’t we have more devices like this in our lives?

Free Safety Around Dogs Video

Umm…folks, we’ve got a problem here. The very first sentence on the site for this free Safety Around Dogs video states “Children and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly.” I hate to ask, but I think somebody needs to. Who’s eating children and dog sandwiches? Isn’t this sort of, maybe, potentially a crime and worth looking into? Why are we being so nonchalant about our nations dwindling children and dog population? Am I the only person worried here?

The video is designed for children in grades K-6 and is offered to teachers, librarians, youth group leaders, animal control officers, animal shelters, veterinarians and community and civic leaders.
