Freebie Review 20 – Crayola Twistables

Hey Everyone! Happy May (I know I’m late lol)

Anyway, I’m here to give you my first freebie review of the month. Today we are reviewing a very very old freebie, Crayola Twistables. This was posted way back in the beginning of 2007. We received ours in March I believe. I shouldn’t say us, Abby received them. Awhile back I was talking to Goob and I mentioned that she had gotten a bunch more of these in the past weeks, so he said I should let her review them and then just edit it into a review. So what you are getting is a mix of 2 reviews, Abby’s being first followed by mine. Enjoy!

Freebie Review 19 – Caramel Delight Cereal

Edit by Goob: The stupid smart sample links keep looping back here to this site (one of their anti-spam measures gone haywire!), so you’ll have to right click on the link and manually copy it to your browser. Sorry folks!

Hi everyone out there! I’ve got a good freebie review for you today. It’s Saturday (edit by Goob: oops!) and not much freebie stuff arrives, but today one did and I’m gonna review it for you. The freebie we are going to talk about is Fiber One’s “Caramel Delight” Cereal. Mine arrived on March 8th, 2008 and I signed up for it back on January 24th…So almost two months waiting for it…I’ve waited longer for stuff.

It arrived in a heavy little cardboard box that has the company’s product on every inch of the box. On the side of it is the quote “Fiber meets Flavor!” Let’s hope so I thought. Upon opening the box there was a second little box, it reminds me of those little kid variety packs you buy at the store. Inside that box, finally I got to the little foil package of the cereal. I must say I like the double box, it makes less squished cereal which I have had happen with food samples before. Cereal out of the foil and into the bowl. There looked to be about a cup of it there but upon further reading the cereal box it states “this sample contains less then one cup” which one cup is the serving size…whatever. On to the cereal.

It smells really good, like cinnamon and honey, but the ingredients contain none of that. Whole grain, wheat, sugar, corn bran chicory root extract and rice bran are just a few of the ingredients. I’m seriously telling you though, I smell cinnamon and honey. This cereal reminds me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, shape and look wise. Tasting it before the milk it tastes like French toast, which is not a bad thing. Okay, milk added and the little squares float around like they are in their own little swimming pool. Tasting it with milk, tastes like even better French toast. Maybe it’s just my taste buds or something, lol. The cereal doesn’t seem to become soggy either, which is a great thing…who wants soggy cereal right?

Well, General Mills did good with this cereal. Back late last year or earlier this year, Fiber One gave away free samples of the Original Fiber One cereal, which also didn’t suck, so I think this is something everyone might like. There are also other flavors besides Caramel and Original. Two of them are, Raisin Bran Clusters and Honey Clusters, both of which I hope we get to sample. Along with the free sample was a 1.00$ off coupon, which isn’t bad at all. I priced this cereal at Wal-Mart and Shop and Save and it was anywhere from 1.99$ to 2.99$. A dollar off, well worth it in my opinion.

This is a cereal that I would most definitely buy after trying the sample. This is a great snacking cereal also, lol…If you’d like to try this, then today’s your lucky day! The free Caramel Delight cereal is back up, so sign up before it dies again! Let me know if the link doesn’t work for you either, it was acting a little wonky for me earlier this morning.

Freebie Review 18 – Cookies and Granola Bars

Hello you crazy freebie getters! You’ve got Shaynon and special guest Abby here today to do a freebie review on Nabisco Oreo 100 Calorie Packs and Chewy Granola Bars.

This freebie was first posted in June 07 sometime, but it was still active and I signed up for it on December 4th and received it on December 20th 2007. This was a freebie from Sams Club.

I’ve set up a little tape recorder before hand so I can tape the conversation that Abby and I have about this freebie. What follows is our conversation!

Freebie Review 17 – Chick-fil-A Calendar

Good Day everyone! Shaynon here with a freebie review just for you! Today’s freebie for review is the Chick-fil-A Calendar and the goodies that come with it. This was posted back on December 31st, 2007 and I received mine on February 2nd, 2008.

This is a great freebie to me because it holds a surprise. Along with your calendar you also get a coupon for a free chicken biscuit. Great, I thought. Upon receiving the calendar I found the Chick-fil-A card which is like a food gift card. 2000 of the cards were going to have money on them. I called when I got mine and of course mine was blank…that’s ok. Back to the calendar for a minute. At the bottom of each calendar page is a coupon also. Examples range from, Free Chick-fil-A chicken salad sandwich, Free Chick-n-strips (with purchase of a medium Iced tea, ect…not a bad deal.) You don’t get many freebies with normal calendars.

So back to the card. I have been to Chick-fil-A once in my life. There isn’t one near where I live so it’s not something that I would remember if I was out. My uncle up in Pittsburgh, however, goes there everyday in the summer. It’s his hang out after golfing. I loaded the card up with some money and I’m giving it and the coupons to him for his birthday next month. I’m putting it all in the MasterCard check presenter that was posted as a freebie a few months back. Gotta love it when you can combine your freebies!

The promotion for the Chick-fil-A coupons and calendar is over, but if you check out their website, you can sign up to receive notice when there are promotions in the future. For those of you who signed up and received this I hope you enjoyed it!

My rating out of (1-5) :) :) :) :) :)

Edit by Goob: I just got an e-mail from fellow hiffer Jaime that she got $100 on her giftcard! So make sure you check your cards out, folks!

Freebie Review 16 – Kashi Go Lean Snack Cereal

Happy Day everyone! I’m bringing you a review of the free Kashi Go Lean bar today. Unfortunately, I’ve been sick all week and can’t taste a thing, so my little sister Abby is going to be your official taste tester today.

This freebie is from Sam’s Club and was posted back on December 4th. I received mine a mere four days later on December 8th. I was going to wait to review this till I was better but Abby checked the mail that day and what follows is the mail call and review.

I was sitting here at the computer checking email when the little tornado, otherwise known as Abby, came tearing by. I saw circulars and a paper cardboard box flying through the air as I asked her what she had. She stopped in front of me and said a freebie came and it’s mine. I was like let me see it and she finally hands it over and I’m like, let’s do this when I’m better… A pout-fest began and that’s when she became the official tester.

The Kashi bar is the Chocolate Almond kind; it’s a fairly big bar for a sample, a 1.59 oz bar. Bigger then the usual sample, or it is to me, lol.

Shaynon: Ok, Abby. What do you think of the looks of it?
Abby: It’s chocolate, what do you think?
Shaynon: I think that it’s got some oats and rice and other good stuff in it.
Abby: I can read the ingredients you know.
Shaynon: I know, now why don’t you taste it and see what it’s like.
Abby: I like the chocolate in it, it tastes good, but I can’t taste the rice, and eww there is soy in it. How come I can’t taste the soy?
Shaynon: It’s not all soy, just part.
Abby: Ok I guess. It’s really good though, I love the chocolate bottom. How do they do that?
Shaynon: I don’t know.
Abby: What do you know?
Shaynon: I know that it’s good for you, health food that doesn’t suck.
Abby: It doesn’t say health food anywhere on it, are you sure?
Shaynon: Yes I am. Trust me.
Abby: Its not. Your lying aren’t you? Im telling Gram.

And with that she was gone…leaving the empty wrapper on the desk. Proof that the Kashi bar is a keeper. It really doesn’t look healthy though, its covered and drizzled in chocolate and it has almond bits and puffed rice and lots of good stuff in it. And believe me, if my sister will eat it, it’s good. As for her telling my Gram I was lying, well let’s just say I know Santa’s number, so she didn’t tell Gram anything, lol.

Freebie Review 14 – Golden Harvest Chips

Hey All! Shaynon here with another freebie review just for you! Today’s freebie of choice “Golden Harvest Chips.” This offer was posted back on August 3rd and I received mine somewhere towards the end of September. It came in the standard cardboard packaging as all the “can be squished” foods come in.

After opening up the package, I found that it contained two samples of the chips. The size of the bag was like what those fun size packs are. One was for the “Tomato Basil” and the other was “Banana.” I just opened the Tomato Basil first and it smells a lot like pizza. The chips are paper thin and very crunchy. Ok, here it goes. Tastes a lot like a pizza combo. Not bad. Eat a few more. Ok, EWW. To me they have a very bad after taste. Almost cardboardish. I thought the idea was to taste like a chip, not the packaging it came in.

Enough of these. On to the Banana chips. They smell like bananas, which is a good sign. But as we know from the pizza chips, smells can be deceiving. Upon further tasting it’s very good. Had a hint of vanilla in it also. No after taste with these. I ate the whole bag and nothing but smileys here.

Ok, so two freebies; one good, one bad. I can deal with that. I would like to try the other kinds just to see what they are like. They include Vegetable Medley and Apple Cinnamon. I looked for these chips at Wal-Mart and they are selling for $2.88 for a 6 oz bag. And seeing as the freebie is a 1 oz bag, I don’t think that is too bad.

Rating (out of 5): Tomato Basil: :) & Banana: :) :) :) :)

Freebie Review 12 – Kashi Snack

Folks, I’m proud to present the first freebie review made by somebody other than myself or Adam here on HIF! If anybody is interested in sending in their own reviews, send it to me on the forums and I’ll be glad to post it. – Goob

Hello everyone! Shaynon here. This is hif’s first written freebie review. It’s a little different from the video ones, but still the same idea.

Okay, today I am reviewing the “Kashi snack”. This was posted back around August 28th. I choose the “Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Cookie” as my snack and received mine on September 20th.

It came in cardboard packaging with the cookie inside. I was surprised at the size of the cookie. It wasn’t a little sample bite-sized cookie, as I expected it to be, but instead was actually pretty big. The texture of the cookie was moist, no dry freebie here. And you can actually see the little grains in the cookie sticking out. It has all your healthy stuff in it along with chocolate chips and walnuts. If I hadn’t of known it was health food I would have never guessed. It tasted like a chocolate cookie with oats with no bad aftertaste or anything.

The next test was on my sister. She hates everything! But I gave her a piece of it and she loved it. Proof to me that it’s good stuff. I went to the store later on to purchase a box of these. I ventured into the organic isle where the Kashi food are kept as if they are prisoners. (these cookies don’t belong among the soy). The box contained 6 cookies for 3.58$. Not bad. Still the same size and for some reason even better. So yes, the Kashi Cookie is one to eat!

Still haven’t got your Kashi snack? Then get your free Kashi snack right now!
