‘HIF News’ Freebies

Hey, It’s The Forums!

I’ve gotten some e-mails over the past few weeks asking if I was ever going to open up a set of forums here on Hey, It’s Free!, so I decided it was probably a good time to get my act together and see if I couldn’t get some put together. I’m still learning all the nooks and crannies of the forum software, but I’ve got enough put together to go ahead and launch the newest section of HIF!

Hey, It’s The Forums!

My vision for the forums is that they will help HIF! grow and expand. I’ll still accept freebie submissions through the contact link over on the right, but I also hope that people (including myself!) will post freebies they find on the forums! So in theory, there will be even more freebies to be found in there and then I’ll take the cream of the crop and stick them here on the front page for those of you who aren’t participating in the forum fun. In the very soon future, people will get “points” for posting freebies, which can then be redeemed for prizes / privileges (ie, a cheaper prize = you’ll be able to change the rank under your name. A bigger prize = me sending you something in the mail, etc.) I’m in contact with a few companies who are discussing sending out special freebies to me to give out, so I might tie those in or something if things work out. As you can see, the possibilities are seemingly endless!

As of now, there are two members. Goob (me) and John (the test dummy I used to see if things were working). By the end of today we better not still be the only members! So go join up and start posting!

Come On, People!

I’ve said this before, but it looks like it’s time to say again. Please DO NOT leave your address in the comments here on HIF. All it gets you is an entry in my giant excel file, which has a tab for people who leave their personal info. It allows me to track repeat offenders, who now will be greeted with a one-week ban. I’m not trying to sound like your mom, but I’m honestly doing this for your own good. Having your info out there for any and everybody to see is not only foolish, it’s dangerous!

My Butterfinger Video

I’m not even sure if I should be posting this. Let’s just say this isn’t my best work when it comes to video editing and acting. Ok, maybe this IS my best acting possible, right on par with Keanu Reeves and Pauly Shore. But being mentioned in the same group as Neo himself is A-okay with me. I found out about the contest only hours before heading off the Argentina for the week and I figured that’d be as good a premise as any to film. So we filmed a few scenes with my digital camera, took some pictures, and when I got home, I had 48 hours until the deadline to compose the video and find some music.

The only problem was that there really wasn’t a storyline! It was hilarious; I was simply sitting in front of my computer, looking at the photos we took, trying to pull out of them ANYTHING funny I could think of. And thus, I ended up with what you see below. It makes absolutely no sense, but then again, neither do I half the time. So enjoy!

Update & Free 2007 Calendar

Well, this time the lack of updates over the past two days was all my fault. If anybody’s gone over and read through some of the old posts on my personal site, they’d know I once lived in Australia. Well, I’m back over here now for a short visit before returning home for a bit. So my apologies for not being able to post lately! But I’ll do my best while over here to make sure I get some freebies up and going every day just like back home. In fact, here’s one I found for a free 2007 Good Health Calendar, so if you haven’t signed up for calendar yet, check this one out!

Slightly Busy

I haven’t had much time to surf around for freebies lately due to being occupied with way more than I usually am. In addition to the normal daily routine I have, I’ve been getting two other sites off the ground, one being Learn To Cheat and the other being Facebook Talk.

Learn To Cheat is a site I’ve had the idea to create for a while but never actually done so until recently. But with the school year being young and fresh, I thought it’d be cool to get it up and running. It basically has ways to cheat in school, as well as a new segment about what NOT to do while cheating. (I hope that have that part up by this weekend) and a place where people can submit how they cheat. Some people have asked how I sleep at night knowing that I’m teaching kids to cheat in school and I respond that I hope teachers are reading this site as well. In fact, I tell fellow teachers about it every day. That way, it can go both ways. Sure, somebody may cheat using the vast knowledge I acquired in high school, but then again, the teacher might have read the site too and can be on the lookout for mehtods they previously didn’t know existed.

Facebook Talk is a site I created in a matter of hours earlier today in response to the uproar that has been caused over the new Facebook changes. I kind of invision it as a site where people can not only get together to talk about the changes on Facebook, but anything else related to it. Privacy concerns, hacks, funny groups, whatever. Will people see it the same way and use it? Who knows, but time will tell and I certainlly hope they do.

Anyways, this is just a big post to both plug my two new sites AND to let you know that nope, I haven’t forgotten about you freebie fanatics. I actually missed doing my daily freebie hunt today, but thankfully I managed to get a few up on the main page thanks to some cool user submitted freebies. And there’s even a few more that I saved for tomorrow just in case I get busy yet again :)

And if you have a chance, check out (AND INTERACT WITH! Post some comments! Join the message board! Send in cheating tips! INTERACT!!!) Facebook Talk and Learn To Cheat.

Welcome New Readers

It looks like somebody sent out a link to HIF in their newsletter or such, because we got a little spike in traffic today. (WOOO!) However, we also got a few people who left their address in the comments (BOOO!). Thus, here’s a little reminder on how freebies work around here.

Honestly, it doesn’t bother me one way or the other if you leave your address in the comments. In fact, I find it kind of cool as I plug it into mapquest just to get a little visual representation of where some of the random readers here at HIF are coming from. But I go through and delete them all for your sake, because you never know what kind of psychos might be out there who will come to HIF, see your address, and….well, who knows. But no hard feelings here on my end.

Anyways, welcome new readers! Have a look around and maybe hit “Ctrl + D” and bookmark us :)

Dear Freebie Gods

Have I offended you? Was it something I said? Ok….I’m sorry. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know what it was I did, but I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. What with trying to find freebies, think of something interesting about them, my other websites, my job, the family, the dog, taxes, the heat wave, losing my socks, global strife, cell phone reception, The Mariners sucking, my pillows having stupid feathers in them so that I can’t sleep…it’s just too much sometimes and I simply hope that whatever it was that I did, well, can you see it in your hearts to forgive me? Because it’s been 36 hours and my freebie addiction is really starting to kick in now. I NEED SOME FREE TOOTHPASTE SAMPLES OR SOMETHING!

Sorry. Didn’t mean to yell, not to you at least. And I’d take whatever freebie you felt like blessing us with. Just toss me a bone here, I’m beggin’ ya.

Just To Clarify

We’ve had an increase of this lately, so I just wanted to address it here on the main page. If you are interested in a freebie, please DO NOT leave your address in the comments section because I’m not the one sending out the freebies! You need to follow the link in the post and then you can leave your info on the 3rd party page so that they can send you the freebies.

I sat down this evening to clean out all the comments that had addresses in them and it took me an hour or so. No hard feelings folks, but I just don’t like leaving them there because then anybody could come along and do who knows what with them. The last thing I need on my mind is the thought of a fellow HIF reader being stalked because some weirdo got their address! So please be sure not to leave your address in the comments from now on. Thanks folks!

I Wish I Was Making This Up

We’ve been having some Internet troubles today that were finally resolved when I discovered the “Internet” button was flipped off. Seriously.

You think I’m joking, but our cable modem has a button on it labeled “Internet.” If you press it on, the web flows through my computer. But if you want to frustrate me to no ends, sneak behind my couch, find the modem, and flip the switch to off. As today proved, it takes me hours before I think to check that button, which leads me to this question…

Who the hell put a button on a modem called “Internet” and allowed it to actually control my Internet!

I’l post today’s freebies up tonight and then roll straight into tomorrow’s freebies. Enjoy!

If you’re from San Diego, Hello!

I just noticed a spike of traffic in the past few minutes and realized it’s all coming from the radio broadcast of AJ’s Playhouse on Channel 933 in San Diego. I don’t think Hey, It’s Free! was actually mentioned on air, but it’s still pretty cool nonetheless. So welcome aboard folks! Browse around for a while and pick up some awesome free stuff while you’re at it.

Quick Question

This really doesn’t have anything to do with freebies, but I’ve got to ask.

In my ref logs, I can see how people came to HIF. When they came via a search engine, I can even see what they were searching for. So, if I see a wave of people coming in via the search phrase “Free gum,” I know to be on the lookup for free gum samples since it’s a hot item.

What I’ve noticed is that once or twice a day, I get people coming in via google, yahoo, and msn using the search term heyitsfree.net. Thus, my question is this: Why are you searching for it? Why not just type it in to your browser and come here directly? You obviously can remember it, so what’s the deal?!

Here’s A Thought

You know what happens when you go away on vacation for a week with no internet access? All of your websites die! Sorry about that folks, but I just got back from my 4th of July vacation and therefore I’ll begin posting some freebies starting today. I’ve got a week to catch up on, so hopefully there will be some decent ones to post!

I got another free iPod!!

Well, two days ago I got yet another surprise in the mail: A new 30 gig video iPod!

This time it came from TRAINN’s Your Free Video iPod site. After getting five people to sign up under my account and each completing an offer, I submitted my account for verification on May 23rd and was approved on May 29th. I submitted my order that day and on June 5th, a package from Amazon was waiting for me on my doorstep!

Goob and his free iPod!

Goob and his free iPod!

As if you needed any more proof that this freebie stuff is legit, it’s right here! Sure, you have to pay about $5-10 to complete a trial offer and get 5 friends to do the same thing, but is that not worth it for a free iPod?! You can even give each of your friends the $5-10 that they will have to pay as compensation for helping you out and in the end, you’ve paid a maximum of $60 for a brand new 30gig video iPod shipped to you free from Amazon.com. Seriously folks, it doesn’t get any better than this.

If you still haven’t signed up for an account at TRAINN and you are convinced to try this stuff out, why don’t you sign up under me at TRAINN’s other free iPod website? I’d certainly appreciate it and just think of it as helping pay me back for all the cool freebies I find on the internet for ya =)

Also, I’m going to start a new feature here on HIF where I review a freebie site out there once or twice a week. The first installment should be up later this evening and I figured since I just completed a TRAINN site, I’ll review one of their sites first, so be sure to look out for that! And don’t forget to sign up for your free iPod so that you can be jamming to music wherever you go!

If you are interested in signing up for any of the TRAINN’s sites, please feel free to use my ref link! Just think of it as supporting HIF =)

Sorry Folks

When you’re a substitute teacher and the end of the year is only days away, full time teachers have a habit of bailing often and early, leaving the schools undermanned from dawn ’til dusk. Hence where I come in, trying to get a classroom of kids I’ve never met to not only listen to me but learn from me - to say it isn’t easy would be pointing out the obvious, but I love it. Anyways, that’s where I’ve been lately and I wanted to let everybody know that I’ve set up enough freebies to post on HIF from now until the end of the school year, at which point I can finally come back home and start scouring the internet for hours at a time just to find a free pen.

Slow Week, huh?

It’s been a slow week in the freebie world, hasn’t it? The only offers I’ve seen lately are for things like free brochures for the state of Kentucky or free Find The Lord DVDs. And while I’m sure the Bluegrass state has plenty to offer and the Lord can direct a decent video, those just aren’t the type of freebies I’m into!
