If you’ve been itching for some more free classical music, then you may enjoy this X5 Free Classical Sampler – Chopin 200 Years. It’s not actually 200 years long, but instead contains about 30 minutes worth of classic Chopin music. Not to be confused with Chaplin music. I thought this might be some long-lost stand-up of his.

Next up is an NPR music at SXSW sampler on iTunes. It contains 11 songs from random artists, so hopefully you’ll find at least one or two that you enjoy.

I know that I said I’d be more active, I just didn’t figure into account this thing called “work” or “life” but even still? Goob knows I’m good for something now and again…

Like these free songs from Mark Kano. You see, while I was a poor schmuck who actually bought his album when it first came out, now you too can experience his first solo album after Athenaeum yourself, and for free, nonetheless.

My highest recommendations on this album, seeing it was one of my top picks of 2009 and it was highly anticipated by me for a while.

Free Classical Favorites CD

If you’re a fan of good music, then be sure to download this Classical Favorites Sampler from Amazon. I used to get bored listening to classical music as a kid, but my tune changed once I created a game where I got one point for each movie or TV show I could think of that used whatever song I was listening to.

From just looking at this freebies playlist, I could immediately score 10 points. My all-time record is pretty high, but I have confidence that my procrastinating and stubborn tendencies could help me break it today – if I wanted. Some call them annoying habits, I call them skills!

Free Country Music Sampler CD

People magazine is giving away an eleven song free country music sampler CD via iTunes. It feature songs from Dolly Parton and a bunch of people I’ve never heard of. I contemplated looking some of them up, but then remembered that I needed to quickly buy some supplies because I’m about to be snowed in until June.

If anybody sends a team of St. Bernards to rescue me, make sure they’re carrying plenty of whisky.

Free Corinne Bailey Rae Song

Corinne Bailey Rae has a new album out and you can download the song “I’d Do It Again” from Walmart for free by using the code CORINNE. You have to have a Walmart account, but they’ve started to give away more and more song recently, so it’s worth the 60 seconds it takes.

I decided to sing along, but halfway through a sheriff showed up and announced that I’d been banned from ever entering the city limits again. It turns out local governments can cut through all the red tape when there’s a danger to public safety.

I’m a little light on freebies today because there just isn’t much to be had. These are the times when I dig through posts stuck in the edit queue with the hopes of finding something worthwhile, but I’m coming up empty. However, there’s a free Anti Sampler Fall 2009 CD from Amazon with 12 songs on it, so … yeah!

My incompetence in finding this earlier is paying dividends now. Too bad that’s not how the rest of life works.

Free I Love the 80s Download

I was a child of the 80’s. Sure, I didn’t perm, I listened to hair bands, and I thought that Extreme’s “More than Words” was one of the greatest songs ever (followed by a tie with Skid Row’s “I Remember You” and Ratt’s “Round and Round,” maybe White Lion is up there too… I’ll get back to you on that one)… So I was surprised to not see any of those on this free I Love the 80s compilation from Amazon.com…

Until I realized it was for the 1880’s. I guess I really was born too late. You’ll excuse me while I go head bang to Michael Halasz’s “Symphony No. 1 in D major, Titan.”

Free Acoustic Christmas Songs from The Fray

The one thing that I honestly truthfully love about my work was despite the fact that they started playing Christmas songs the first week of November? The day after Christmas, we were right back to regular music! And after having 60+ hour weeks where I was living in the store, well, to say that I was growing tired of it would be the understatement of the century…

So you’ll excuse me if I just pass along this link for these five free Christmas songs from The Fray (and free fan club membership for a year) and don’t really download them and comment on how they are… I’m just happy that I can hear my Miley Cyrus, The Script, and Jon McLaughlin on our in-store radio…

Needless to say, these free stress management downloads (right-click, save as)? Well, they’re just about a few weeks too late for me and my plate (and for some of y’all and the in-law visits, I’m sure), but its never too early to start mentally preparing for next year, right?

In my quest to find some free non-Christmas music earlier this week, I first stumbled across NPR’s All Songs Considered blog, which has tunes you can both listen to and download for free.

Next up, I found free music from Parachute Festival, which lets you download the following songs.

I swear I’m not a grinch, but I have to say I’m about done with Christmas music this year. There are only so many times I can hear about chestnuts or sleigh bells before I reach for the nearest bottle of vodka and don’t let go until January. It’d probably be easier to simply turn off the radio, but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun!

Close that spreadsheet and hang a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your cubicle, because we’ve got hours worth of new music to listen to! That’s a worthy enough excuse for not doing any work, right?

There’s a newly released free iTunes holiday sampler with 20 songs from artists such as Toby Keith, Barry Manilow, Stephen Colbert(!), and Weezer.

Next up, Nylon magazine is giving away 27 free winter songs and somebody explain to me what in the world this means. How can they be winter songs? Are they dreary, cold, and depressing? If so, sign me up! Maybe they’ll be the final straw to force me to move to the tropics.

Free Pixar’s Up Soundtrack Download

EDIT: Hey, they ended this a few hours too early! What’s the big idea?

Apparently there are these ancient relics published on a daily basis called nerspeppers – am I saying that right? Nooselabors? Nudeslayers? Oh, newspapers, gotcha – and one fine establishment in Los Angeles is offering a free download for Pixar’s Up soundtrack by using the code latimesdisney before midnight tonight. The entire download consists of 23 songs and runs just under 50 minutes of play time.

It’s not quite like watching the movie, but it’s the next best thing. Track number nine is even called “Kevin Beak’n.” Heh heh heh, oh my, I love a good pun. In fact, my favorite SQUIRREL!

More Free Holiday Music

I hope you’re not getting sick of the free Christmas music, because Amazon is holding a 25 Days of Free event where they’ll unveil a new holiday song available to download free for a limited time. Yesterday’s free song was “Joy to the World” by Casting Crowns and today’s hasn’t come out yet. I’ll be posting each day’s new song over on the forums, but for now, I’m off to bed! It’s 2:40 in the morning and either I’m hallucinating from lack of sleep or my bird just whistled “go to bed if you know what’s good for you.” Fantastic. Now I’m scared of every single animal I own.
