It’s 2:30 and I’ve found a whopping two freebies, both of which I actually found late last night. In other words, it’s a slow freebie day. So when I found this free Orange Mountain Philip Glass album, I was thrilled. Sure, I already posted some free Amazon music this week, but it’s Glass! He rocks! And there’s 21 tracks! I can’t stop using exclamation marks!

At least now I’ll have something to help get the song I mentioned on Facebook out of my head while I futilely hunt for freebies.

The funny thing is that I download all this free music and then promptly forget about it. Months later, iTunes will shuffle past one of the songs and it’s like a brand new discovery. “Hey, I’ve never heard this before! Cool, new music!”

What can I say, I get excited over small things. If I find a quarter on the ground, it’s easily the highlight of my week.

The album has 15 songs and includes some popular ones, such as Claire De Lune, Fur Elise, and Canon In D. Plus, Amazon still has over 1,400 free songs, which is 200 more than last month. Between that and my favorite streaming radio station, I haven’t heard the same song in months!

When I found this free Luke Bryan download for his new album ‘Doin’ My Thing’, I wondered at first who Luke Bryan was. Then, after deciding that I didn’t really care because it was free music, I figured I should probably thank Longhorn Steakhouse too for sponsoring the free download. Needless to say, I got hungry on my way over and stopped in at Chili’s. Oops?

Why would I listen to something so eclectic?

Well, when I close at work, I actually turn on my music in the store to give it something a little… different. This is especially important once the Christmas music starts in another month…

Maybe there’s some sort of higher power to this all and I should listen to something like this free Creation Festival sampler on my iPod Touch. Or maybe? I should just bypass it and switch over to the new Miley Cyrus. What? “Party in the U.S.A.” is addictive!

Wait a minute…then that’d make my job here pretty useless. Doh!

Amazon is also running an offer this month of 50 different albums for only $5. They have albums from bands like the Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, John Coltrane, The Roots, Willie Nelson, Gloriana, Marie Digby, Crystal Method, Fabolous and Shinedown. So…pretty much something for everybody. It might be worth checking out if you’re a music buff. Check out the banner below for more info.

And finally, as we’ve written about before, Amazon offers a hoard of free music available to anybody who wants it. The current count of freebies stands at 1,200, so never again shall you complain that you have nothing to listen to!

But what I’m finding even cooler than that is this free Celtic music sampler. I’ll listen to anything. Really. Especially because all I have stuck in my head now is Jonas Brother’s “Play My Music”…

Needless to say, none of these bands on this free 2009 Vans Warped Tour sampler really ring a bell with me. Other than NOFX and Bad Religion. I guess that means I’m really getting old…

And the Princely one himself hopefully would appreciate this tribute cover album. Heck, I’ll even admit that I enjoy the movie and the album…

I thought I was fairly up to date and remembered most musicians for at least one song. Heck, I’ll even admit that I have the Jonas Brother’s CD with “Burning Up” on it. But whenever I think of Ashley Tisdale, I’m drawing a complete blank and only remembering Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.”

Maybe this free Ashley Tisdale party pack will help me remember. Or maybe I’ll just finally find my perfect shade of lip gloss in it with just enough stickers to cover my private brands guide binders at work while I bop around to the CD that’s included too…

But maybe with this free iTunes download of this Lollapalooza sampler, well, maybe I can come up with a new theme song.

Or maybe when my hair grows back in fully, I’ll go back to the “Welcome Back Kotter” theme song…

So when I found these free Mishka Radio Friendly Unit mixes (volume 1 and volume 2), they reminded me so much of the music I’d listened to when I was at home, practicing guitar: Soundgarden, L7, Cake, Weezer, The Pixies, Sublime, etc.

And to get two mixes downloaded for free like that? Can’t complain at all… Now just to sync up my mp3 player…

However, I don’t know what’s better about this: the completely random tracklist, or the horribly mid-90’s style website with ASCII graphics, hot pink background and blue writing, and the dancing guitar graphics and popups. Its horrifically brilliant and a reminder of everything NOT to do with a webpage! Genius!

Needless to say, I think I need to raise my street cred and download this free mix from Nylon Magazine. Well, I guess it would raise if I actually knew any of these bands…

Sweet, music I’ve never heard of!

Coldplay is giving away a free album download of LeftRightLeftRightLeft, which is really just a live CD of the following songs:

They actually released this yesterday, but I never could get the darn thing to download until now. People like to make fun of Coldplay, but I love their music. I’m also a fan of polka music, so take my musical suggestions with a grain of salt.

I think the fall-out started when he and I got into a disagreement over the new U2 album. See, he thinks its phenomenal and everything that’s awesome. Me? I think that its mediocre and bland. I mean, sure, I’ve seen U2 live (November 2005), and the show was beautiful and everything amazing. Better than when I saw Aerosmith and KISS (and I’m a huge Aerosmith fan), but the new album just doesn’t do it to me.

There might be hope for his and my reconciliation, though. See, he and I both enjoy the single, “Get On Your Boots”, and with this free 7″ copy of U2’s new single, maybe he and I can get along again…
