Today Ebates is running a Cyber Monday 2 campaign (…really? That was the best name they could come up with? I would have gone with Super Awesome Bonus Money day.) where they’re at least doubling the rebates at over 500 stores. Some examples include:

Toys R Us – 10% cash back instead of 2%
Barnes and Noble – 10% cash back instead of 4%
Disney Store – 10% cash back instead of 5%
Walmart – 6% cash back instead of 1%
Nordstrom – 6% cash back instead of 3%
Old Navy – 5% cash back instead of 2%
Kohl’s – 4% cash back instead of 2%
Apple – 2% cash back instead of 1%

Those just scratch the surface – there honestly are a boatload more. Not only that, but new members to Ebates can get a free $10 gift card after making their first purchase. So if you’ve still got some Christmas shopping to do, today might be the day to stop procrastinating.

Now I just need to figure out what to actually buy for a few people. I’m open to suggestions. *crickets*

Free $2 Amazon MP3 Credit

I love these free $2 Amazon MP3 credit offers because they never care how many times you participate. Most sites would only let you participate once – ever – but I’ve gotten at least $20 in credit over the years. It’s how I’ve built my entire Devo collection.

In order to get the credit, connect your Amazon and Twitter accounts. This will then automatically follow @amazonmp3 and @amazondeals and tweet out a message from your account. But, you know, there’s always that delete button you could press. Finally, you have to follow @heyitsfree for the credit to, uh, be credited to your … ah … credit account bank thingy.

Okay, I made one of those steps up.

You know, Goob and I don’t post many books. That’s not to say we don’t read, but most of these book freebies nowadays are for eBooks or downloadable content that’s a dime a dozen. Sometimes, however, I come across something like this free pdf book on negotiation that’s just way too good to pass up. Maybe I could use what I learn in this book to e-mail the site and negotiate getting a print copy of the book? Or maybe I’ll just negotiate a bigger slice of the pie. Mmm… pie…

Free 24 Hour Access to Consumer Reports

Free Amazon Two and One-Day Shipping

We’re T-Minus 5 days away from Christmas, which is depressing not only because that’s the closest I’ll ever come to being an astronaut, but also due to the fact that I have a ton of presents left to buy. However, thanks to the free Amazon Prime trial being offered, we all have until the end of the day tomorrow to make sure our gifts arrive by Christmas.

Prime is a program that normally costs $80 a year to guarantee two-day shipping on hundreds of thousands of items that Amazon sells. The trial is free, but this won’t work if you’ve been an Amazon Prime member in the last 13 months! That means if you signed up for a free trial last year, then you don’t qualify this time around. Are you out of luck? Heck no! Just sign up for Amazon Mom! It’s a program that gives free two day shipping as well and is aimed at anyone with a kid, though, uh … it’s not like they can check. Dig me?

There’s also Amazon Student, which gives anybody with a .edu email address a full year of Amazon Prime.

Of course chances are you only want these shipping deals for this week. Well that’s cool, just make sure you cancel the service by doing the following:

Go to the Manage Your Prime Membership page and click “do not upgrade.” You’ll continue to enjoy your Amazon Prime benefits until your free trial period is over. Then your membership will automatically cancel. Your credit card will not be charged.

Now what’s up with the free one-day shipping? Well, Amazon is offering this on certain electronics, video games, and software. A full list of free one-day shipping items can be found here.

With just under a week to go, I still have to do some shopping for my wife’s and my Thanksgiving feast. Thankfully with getting some free laundry done today at our complex, we don’t have to pull up the sofa cushions to look for some extra change for groceries. Nor do we need to search for a cookbook after the Martha Stewart offer the other day and this free Mr Food Thanksgiving e-Cookbook today.

Now, despite the cookbook? Until they actually find a cookbook that’s a book that cooks and isn’t just a book that tells you how to cook? I can’t guarantee that we’ll have the best looking turkey here…

Last year when my wife and I tried to do turkey, to call it a disaster would be an understatement. This year we have a much simpler chicken dinner planned for now, but there’s something about having that darn turkey on your plate that one day out of the year that’s just right.

Zappos.com typically offers free priority mail shipping on all orders, however for the next 24 hours you can upgrade your account to VIP status giving you free overnight shipping on all orders. They ran this offer last December and since then I’ve ordered two or three things, all of which were on my doorstep the next morning.

Fine, I admit, I only signed up so that I can say I’m a VIP somewhere. It gives me an excuse to wear my spray-painted gold suit.

Even still, Barnes & Noble is giving away selected eBooks for free every Friday. While I don’t recognize every single title, there are quite a few on there. The only real catch? You still need a credit card to access them, even if it isn’t charged, and it takes 60 minutes from when you “purchase” them for the books to “ship” and be available to read.

So combine this with iBooks from the app store and you’re set! Until next Friday rolls around and the store updates with more… See? I’ve given you a week to get ahead!

Today marks the 2nd birthday of Swagbucks, a site I’ve written about extensively on HIF. The way I’ve always explained it is that it’s like Google + Prizes. You search on Swagbucks as you normally would on Google or Bing, but the added benefit is that you’ll randomly win Swagbucks, which can be exchanged for prizes.

To celebrate their 2nd anniversary, all new members can use code FREESWAGCODE1 to earn 60 free Swagbucks. If that sounds like a whole heck of a lot to all the old users, that’s because starting today, Swagbucks is multiplying all of their codes and prizes by ten. So instead of winning 1 or 2 Swagbucks per search, you’ll now win 10 or 20.

Furthermore, their giving away a ton of prizes today as well. The Frugal Map

I routinely get e-mails asking why I don’t post weekly sales for this or that store. My response is always that (A) I don’t shop that often, which means I can’t personally check out each deal and (B) there are plenty of other sites that already do a better job than I ever could. The problem was, I could never say exactly what blog was covering what region, because I had no idea.

In comes Bargain Briana, who has just launched the Frugal Map. It’s an interactive map that allows you to click on a state and see a list of frugal bloggers that cover specific cities. That way, you can find a site that should be covering the deals for your local grocery stores.

To make it even better, the map is embeddable, which allows me to place it here on HIF. I’ve also linked to it on each of our coupons page, like Coupons.com and SmartSource. This is a pretty cool resource, especially for people who are just getting into couponing.

Free Swagbucks Code

Here’s a neat little trick to pick up a free Swagbucks code. After logging into your account, click “Ways to Earn” followed by “Special Offers.” Then click the blue box that says “No Obligation Offers.” You’ll then want to skip through the offers shown to you (I had to skip through five, it took about 20 seconds) and finally you’ll be given a free code!

If you’ve got no idea what I’m talking about when I saw Swagbucks, check out this review I wrote of them a while back. Long story short, it’s like Google, but with prizes. Every search you make has the potential to earn points, which can be redeemed for stuff like gift cards.

Free $4 Amazon Video On Demand Credit

If you think of Amazon.com, you probably don’t think of their movie streaming section where you can rent movies to watch immediately on your computer. But they’re hoping to change that with a holiday gift in the form of a free $4 Amazon video on demand credit.

In order to get it, simply go to that page and enter the code AVODGIFT. You’ll then be able to pick up to $4 worth of movies to stream on your computer for free. For references, there are just under 100 new-release movies priced at only $2.99 along with some cheaper movies for as low at $0.99.

The credit expires on January 3, 2010, but I’m thinking it might make for a nice break if you get a little overwhelmed during the holidays. After last night’s festivities, I have a feeling my liver will launch a counterattack any day now.
