Whew, I thought that long three day weekends off from work are supposed to be relaxing! Not to say I didn’t have fun at my wife’s law convention wearing a fez and my bow tie and quoting Matt Smith for the better part of an hour, but something tells me that I didn’t quite catch on to what the Casablanca theme really was.

After liking Kudzu.com on Facebook, you can sign up for a free packet of flower seeds. I’m really hoping the mystery flowers aren’t kudzu. As a kid growing up in South Carolina, I used to be terrified of the plant because I thought it was quicksand. Then it started growing on the side of a neighbor’s house and I realized, oh, it’s like quicksand for buildings.

At least I think this free Benjamin Moore Arborcoat deck paint is meant for the deck. Maybe they painted those chairs in the image. Or possible the trees. As you can guess, I’m not much of a decorator. The last thing I painted were Easter eggs when I was 10 and that wasn’t a very happy memory. Turns out they were decorative crystal eggs.

If you’re the outdoorsy type then you might enjoy tomorrow’s free National Parks admission day. Over 100 national parks that normally charge an entrance fee will waive the requirement but let me say this: don’t go!

Don’t even think about going. I went with my family this summer and long story short they left me behind. Unfortunately for them I’m like one of those cool dogs from a Reader’s Digest story and I walked all the way home in just under a week.

Two years ago NASA offered to send your name to the moon. Now they’re willing to blast your face into space! Sure, it’s not a traditional freebie that comes in the mail, but I can’t resist having my face float amongst aliens.

When you load the final page, it says something along the lines of “there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but how about a free blade?” Oh yeah? I accept your challenge. There’s a free Home Depot newsletter that sends out random coupons and offers. Last week they sent out BOGO coupons for trees, which I thought was silly since everybody knows trees are free. Why just this weekend I took a few out of my neighbor’s yard. They weren’t too happy for some reason, so I tried to smooth things over by giving them a bouquet of flowers from their garden. I think I only made things worse.

Seeing as how the tree coupon was from last week, I’m not sure if we’ll get it as well or if we’ll get something new. Either way, if you enjoy doing yard or housework, you should sign up.

Free Thermal Flask or Camouflage Hat

Copenhagen has updated their site and you can now get a free thermal flask, camouflage hat, or coupon book. I went with the flask, although this really isn’t a flask in my view. It’s more a thermos. If I can’t hide it in my coat pocket and sneak it into a movie, doctor’s office, or baby shower, then it losses its flask privileges.

Also, let me preemptively get this out of the way: no, I don’t endorse tobacco products. No, I don’t censor freebies. Yes, I know it’s a lot of personal information, but tobacco (and alcohol) companies are required to collect it by federal law so that minors aren’t on their sites.

I feel like a robot right about now. The world’s most boring, stodgy robot. Oh great, Japanese scientists just showed up wanting to replicate me!

Free National Parks Admission April 17-25

The Department of the Interior is offering free admission to National Parks from April 17-25. This covers all 392 national parks, so it might be a great time to plan a little getaway and enjoy a picnic in some nice weather.

For the lazy people out there, just do what I do and have a picnic on your front lawn. Make sure you remember to bring some food though. I sat in the grass for an hour last week before remembering I was supposed to be eating something.
