I've recently got back into doing "freebies" that require you to sign up for a few trial offers in exchange for some expensive freebie and I thought I should make a section where we could all talk about it and where others could ask questions about certain sites.

For instance, the other night I started a DIY (do it yourself) site where you sign up for 5 trial offers and end up getting three items (a cell phone worth $150, a camera worth $150, and a laptop worth $350) in return. In all, I spent about $40, so it's a pretty good return if you ask me :) There are plenty more sites out there with different rewards (xbox360 plus Madden 07, gift certificates to Amazon worth tons of $$, etc.)

Of course, there is some risk, but if you follow the tips and steps that I'll lay out in this forum, you'll minimize them to the point of almost guaranteeing you get a ton for a little.

I'm really interested in this. I especially want some tips on how not to get scammed. Thanks for starting this one up, Goob.

You may also want to check out Josh Clarks website. He was the one that interested me in this kind of stuff. Although I have yet to get a credit card, you can still find some good deals for so little.

I know of Josh's site and while there is some useful information on there, I haven't had time to go through it all and make sure there isn't any non-HIF/Goob approved spam links or whatnot. So if you want to find his site via Google, have at it, but at the same time, remember that I'm putting together another just like it in the near future.

I may be in the wrong section here, so I am sorry in advance.

A friend 5 minutes ago just introduced me to Silvertag.com.

Does anyone use this?

Has anyone heard anything about this?

Is it legit?

It seems to good to be true...

I heard about it myself...

And it sort of is "too good to be true" because of the logistics behind it. I mean, it works, but you have to really be "on top of it."

And I think you get a limited number of bids a day or something until you buy a membership. That, and the free membership is only a 3 day trial or something.

It's difficult too, when you think about it, with the whole "lowest unique bid" thing...

Wait, the lowest bid wins? How is that possible? Wouldn't everybody just bid a penny?

Sooooooo... If more than one person bids that amount, it can't win.

I don't think that I am going to do it. It sounds too good to be true.

Why pay a company to bid on a project?

Yeah, it really interested me too, but in general, there are so many people tryign to do it and its hard to really "low ball" anything. You never know who's going to be posting or asking at whatever price. And then seeing that after 3 days you had to pay for a membership? Uh... no.
