Free $25 Kiva.org Credit

Wow. This free $25 in Kiva.org credit is an amazing offer I'm thrilled to see return. For those unfamiliar with Kiva, it's a micro-loan site where anybody can loan small amounts of money ($25 and up) to vetted recipients in need of finance to start or upgrade their small businesses around the world. After the loans are paid back, you can then re-lend the money to somebody else and start the entire process over again. As you can see, I've made loans all over the world and the only people who defaulted are living in a region currently controlled by ISIS, so they get a pass.

The credit didn't show up in my account, however it appeared at checkout and I wasn't charged a penny for helping ol' Barnohol buy some cattle.

It's worth noting that you won't be able to re-lend this free $25 credit once it's paid back, but hey, at least you can help change a single life for the better!

Sorry, but this freebie has expired.

However here are five recent freebies still available!

  1. Given that the loan isn’t able to be relent, this is the perfect chance to fund those that are in ISIL-endangered areas without risk of losing anything.

  2. I thought you would get some interest back after the loan is repaid, but it turns out this is not the case. I don’t get it, what’s in it for me? I don’t see the point of risking your money if you are not having any financial gain.

    • Think of Kiva not as a way to increase your own wealth, but as a charity that brings millions of people out of extreme poverty. You could donate $25 to a huge charity, but then you really don’t know how that $25 was spent or if it even made it to somebody in need.

On the other hand, if you and 100 other people send $25 to a specific person through Kiva, then you get to see that person’s progress as they use the money to upgrade or buy equipment for their tiny business or family.

The beauty is that when they’ve repaid the $25, you get to reloan it and help somebody else using the same $25 you originally donated! Whereas if you sent that $25 to a charity, you’d then need to donate another $25 the next year and the next and the next, etc.

  3. I signed up about a week ago. I got a message that they were out of codes but then a few days later they sent me the $25 code. So you may want to try them again.

  4. I thought I could make a little profit from this. But, no interest is charged. If I want to risk my money to someone, I should have a reason to take that risk…
