Free Comic Book Day 2024

Mark your calendars! The 23rd annual Free Comic Book Day is slated for sometime in early May 2024. We can get a free comic book that day at participating locations and this year they'll have even more freebies with color coded labels to distinguish between All Ages, Teen, and Mature comics.

So mark your calendar and pick up a free issue for the … kids at home? Suuuuuure, let's pretend it's not for you and say it's for the little ones.

It's been years since I've read comic books. I even tried drawing my own once. It didn't have many super heroes, but starred a kid who refused to eat his vegetables, couldn't talk to girls, and looked ridiculous in his baggy jeans. I guess it wasn't so much a comic book as a journal. No wonder Marvel never took me seriously.

To make matters worse, I harshly learned on a recent date that comic books aren't an appropriate answer to “what have I read lately?” Suffice to say, there wasn't a second date.

  1. That is so cool! I missed it this year but now that I know I’ma be there next yr!! By the way, whoever you were dating is crazy; comic books not only do count, but you get extra points for imagination and semi-dorkiness. (I know, since I read both all the time, when I’m not cackling at my armloads of free stuff)

  5. There was no hoops to jump through. In fact, it was awesome! We got 3 free comics because they gave me one for my daughter who is only 3 months old!! And one for me and my son! They sold him a second one for 50 cents too! They also gave him a green lantern figure for free too. We didn’t have to sign up for anything! Awesome 🙂

  7. LB, a big part of FCBD is just to (re)acquaint folks with their local comic book stores. I don’t see a problem with going to two different stores, but you may want to call both of them first to check out their policies for FCBD. For instance, my local comic book store will be combining their FCBD with a local comic convention that you must pay to attend. I’ll be skipping this offer.

  8. Ok so tomorrow i take my son for a free subway with the coupon i got in the mail, walk up to the comic shop n pick up a comic, go to dunkin for a free ice coffee for us both and pick up my free suave professionals and gerber soy while im in there seeing as its in Giant. Awesome. Sounds like tomorrow might be quite productive – there are 2 comic stores near me, which are participating…would it be rude to go to both?
