Free Dove Clinical

Updated: Oct 4, 2018 · Posted on Oct 07, 2010 at 9:25 am

First it was the Dove Cool Essentials from one supercenter, now its the free Dove Clinical from BJs sample. It seems like these birds are branching out… Now after creating my fake membership number, all I can think about is rubbing your arm pits with birds that are wearing little glasses and stethoscopes…

For the record, to get this one I had to make up a random number. My legitamate number didn’t work. I’m in fl. and can’t wait for my sample!

Wow! Is this Link the Record winner for Comments?
Well, then, I have to contribute!

    @#44 Kate:
    Wow! Addicted much, LOL=)
p.s. I love the idea that there is a special place in Hell for us “sample-frauders;” I wonder if we’ll be with the “Freebie-Thieves?!”

@Wolfwerx: You are scaring me w/your lyrical skill. Very well stated.

    @Patsy:
“Also, many companies put samples on their site as a perk for being a member of their club not β€œjust to get it in the hands” of consumers. They wouldn’t ask for an ID if that were the case!”

I think the member number is to make their members feel special for paying that membership fee; But really anyone can get this free sample b/c it is being offered other places.
Also, I consistently hear reports that less than 40% of gift cards, rebates, freebies, etc. are redeemed. Like someone mentioned above, Members probably don’t even KNOW this freebie is being offered. We are just trying to help the company get their monies worth. Because if those freebies just sit on the shelves, the company gets no monies! (that didn’t mk much sense, I meant cuz new ppl wont try it, so they wont get new customers… its’ late.)
Most of us don’t have a problem guessing a few numbers for a freebie, and we don’t need you wagging your finger at us. Also, If it makes you feel any better… GOD IS LOVE… so I don’t think his requirements are that strict.

    PEACE<3

Why shoot Patsy down? It’s her opinion and she’s entitled to it. And Nichole, don’t speak for everyone and say nobody likes Patsy. Take a close look around you. Is Patsy in your house? Do you know her personally? Didn’t think so. Take a look again, this is a message board. A computer. How can you dislike a name on your monitor?

Now settle down and welcome Patsy to the board. Hi Patsy. πŸ˜‰

My state not on list. On the clubs that require an ID number, I do not have an ID number, so I skip it. Rather than make up a number. Alot of times the same club will offer the free item and not require an ID number. I read all the comments, wow. Let us be glad we have freedom of speech on the internet here in the USA> I like to make up freebie boxes. My friend is coming over on Sunday. I am giving her a woman, boy, and girl box. Absolutely everything in the boxes was free. The boxes are boxes new tennis shoes came in. She is going to either do a 50 cent or $1 raffle in her woman’s church group [the money going to their charity work] or she is just going to do a drawing for the boxes. I just gave her a man, woman, and household item boxes for their mission sister The Navajo Nation in Northern AZ here. So my freebies, mostly gotten by honest methods, not all the time I admit, but for a good cause when not, do go to people other than me. What me and my mom can use we keep. I buy kids meals when we go to fast food places. I eat 2 and the toys go into my freebie box. Works out very well. I have lots of fun. I am disabled and in a wheelchair. I seldom get out of my home. This hobby give me something to do. product. free delivery to my house. and this web site is very entertaining with the hosts’ comments. keep up the good work.

I don’t feel bad about getting freebies because many of them have made me go out and buy the product which is the purpose. I can’t afford to buy every new product on the shelves so samples allow me to try the product before buying it to see if I like it or not. Any products I get that I don’t use I donate to a homeless shelter, Women’s Abuse Center, etc., they need the shampoos & conditioners, deodorants, toothpaste, mouthwash, baby diapers, etc., I hope many of the HIF members donate too. Also, after reading all the free magazines we get I donate them to Assisted Living Centers, local hospitals, elderly places, etc., they love getting new magazines to read (some Drs. offices appreciate the mags too). The companies appreciate it when we share their samples, it helps to advertise to more possible customers. Use and buy the products or see how fast you can fill a bag up of all the samples and donate them, it will make you feel better and they will be appreciated by those that need them.

Patsy: I believe you are just picking and choosing points to address, rather than understanding the whole idea of what is being said. I am not mad, nor am I making fun of you. I, too, enjoy coming to this site, and people that wish to pass judgment on others is a negative point of this (or any) site. I could choose to ignore it, leave the site, or attempt to address it. I have chosen to address it for the time being.

If you really want to get down to brass tacks, using any of these posts to get freebies would be dishonest, because they are not specifically sent to you! Did you see the commercials, read the internet ad, see the television ad, listen to the radio promotion, see the in-store flyer, etc. that lists these freebies? No, you didn’t. Therefore, you are not the targeted audience. Goob or Adam listing these opportunities is no different than those of us choosing to try a random membership number when that is required.

Also, you are incredibly naive if you think any multi-billion dollar corporation is not “IT-Savvy”. I can think of a few ways to easily lock a site down so that real, verified, members are the only ones (in any practical sense) that have access to the website, and I am nowhere near professional-level. You are making stuff up to support your “point”, such as it is. It is a non-issue for those stores, because they are getting real names and addresses and email-addresses.

With all that being said, I did admit that it was dishonest, because anything less than that would be merely rationalizing. BUT, it’s a level of dishonesty that is so minor and non-harmful that I’m willing to go for it. I personally would not have had a problem if you had initially posted that you were not a member and did not care to make up a number… but you came off as holier-than-thou, and being judgmental is no less of a personality flaw as what you are accusing some of us with.
If it would make you feel any better, I’ll admit you may be a fantastic person with high moral values, but I’m still going to sleep well tonight, and when this sample comes, my wife’s pits are going to smell lovely.

Wolfwerx: Yes, everyone in the store gets a sample….if you’re in the store you got there without lying to get in! You don’t have to be a member if YOU’RE A GUEST of someone……they don’t allow someone to bring 300 quests at a time with them, there is a limit. When you bring a quest into Sam’s you are using YOUR legit card to get in – not a fake number. Signing up for a free sample using a fake ID is not being a guest of someone…it’s lying to get a sample.

Also, many companies put samples on their site as a perk for being a member of their club not “just to get it in the hands” of consumers. They wouldn’t ask for an ID if that were the case!

Companies are not IT savvy most of the time…..they probably have no idea that there is a glitch in their system that allows people to put in a fake number and get a sample. Walgreens has glitches in their system all the time that allow extra Register Rewards until some store manager calls them.

As you yourself admitted it’s dishonest…..doesn’t matter why you did it, it’s still dishonest.

As for those who say “well, if you don’t like it- don’t do it” – I don’t do it. I like this site….I think Goob and Adam are hysterical! I come to this site just to read their commentary and most of their freebies are great!

And yes, it’s just a sample….. so why not just wait for one that doesn’t require lying to get it if it’s not that big of a deal.

Getting mad or making fun of me doesn’t change the fact that it’s dishonest.

Honestly….Really to be the high on the horse on a freebie site? Some people make me sick this comes from a actual member but really to condem or question people who don’t? How does a membership give people status that other people don’t? Maybe instead of questioning others values people who are thinking they are better should question their own first.

Since this topic of conversation seems to come up every time a freebie requiring a membership code is posted, here’s other thoughts I’ve had on the matter:

When you shop at Sam’s or Costco (those of you that are legit members, such as myself), do you ever take a guest with you? Both of those places have a tremendous amount of samples (particularly on Saturday mornings!) and they do not refuse to give a sample to your guest, do they? No, they do not. The point is to get the samples out there, nothing else.

Another point for the naysayers: When you go to anyplace that offers samples (for example, your local grocery store), everybody in your group will take a sample, right? Your spouse, children, etc? Is every single person of your group intending to purchase that item separately? No, of course not. Following the flawed “sample fraud” logic, you are “stealing” from that company. Naturally, you can see that is nonsense.

My two cents: It annoys me more than I can say that I have to come to this site to see that Sam’s Club has a sample. I have been a member of Sam’s for 10+ years and have never ONCE been notified that a sample is available. (Thanks Goob and/or Adam. Without you, I would never know what my membership fees were going to.)

With that said, I figure all of the other club sites are failing to notify their members. Who gets to keep all of the ‘extra’ samples that they do not give away? Do they send cases home with their managers? If so, then this is sample fraud, too.

What really bothers me is when people have a holier-than-thou attitude. If you don’t agree with how a website is run, then don’t visit it.
You obviously don’t know how advertising (which is what samples are) works. The whole premise of samples is to get product into people’s hands. A company sends out X number of samples… it would rather those samples got into circulation, rather than sit in a box somewhere. Further, companies pay the stores to feature their product, place them on particular shelves, and handle sample distribution. That is the whole point. We are not putting them out of business.
I will admit that entering a fake number is not honest, but the intent is not malicious (at least in my case) and I am honestly taking samples for their intended use, which is an introduction to a new product/ enticement of future purchase of a particular brand. If my wife finds that she likes (for example) this deodorant, then she will purchase it at some point in the future. Thus, the sample had successfully done its job, regardless of whether or not it was purchased at BJ’s, Sams, or wherever else. Dove gets the money that they set out to make. It was a “legit sample”.

What really bothers me is you guys think it’s ok to lie and make up numbers to get a sample. Did you ever think that if enough people do that the freebies might stop. Companies are getting tired of coupon and sample fraud. There are too many legit samples out there for everyone, and I would think that as owners of this website (Goob) you would be a little more responsible than to encourage people to commit fraud. Just my 2 cents.
