Free MLK Day Promotional Items

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed on the third Monday of January each year. It's not a holiday that traditionally is associated with freebies. However, to spread the word, the government is giving away free MLK Day promotional items every year. I still have my door hangers from 2011!

  • MLK Day Posters
  • MLK Day Fact Sheet
  • bookmarks
  • stickers
  • door hangers

While at the beach last summer, I could have their free MLK bookmark. After finishing a chapter, I wanted to go take a dip in the ocean but didn't have a bookmark. I started to dog ear the page, but then came up the ingenious plan to make a bookmark! I grabbed a handful of sand, mashed it together tightly, and stuck it in the book.

Yeah, that didn't work.

Sorry, but this freebie has expired.

However here are five recent freebies still available!

  2. I am a 7th grade teacher and would love these materials for use with my students. I am getting the same error messages!! Grrr! As for those of you who are complaining….I am sure that when you were in school, you were provided with similar resources. Why shouldn’t my students have the same, if not better, than what we had?

  3. Barb & Lindsey – Why are you posting your grievances here? If you don’t want it, don’t order them. Unfortunately, they’ve already been printed. Why don’t you go to the website directly and send them a letter with your comments? If you have a problem with what they are doing, contact them directly. It shouldn’t be too hard for you to find a contact number/email.

  4. Lindsey. I agree. Shut down the printing presses (promotional items and currency!)

KFM: This is a waste of resources – personnel, paper, printing, postage. Stop! apply this towards the national debt.

  5. I just got some bookmarks, I’ll bring them down to the library. Apparently it’s still working if you get some of the smaller stuff, I guess.

Lindsey, Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders in American, possibly even world history. Community service also brings the American people together and strengthens communities.

I can think of worse things my tax dollars are going toward. Crappy auditing, for instance, ends up with WAY more tax dollars spent than an initiative promoting community service, and honoring an American hero.

You want to complain about how the government is misspending your money, complain about lack of proper budgeting, waste of resources, throwing money at issues instead of making solutions, not about something great. That is, unless you can think of something better to do with the money.
