Connecticut Community Distribution Center Program

The Connecticut Community Distribution Center Program (CCDCP), located in Hartford, is an initiative of the Connecticut Department of Public Health. It's purpose is to increase the availability of safer sex educational and medical materials to prevent the transmission of HIV and many other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Male and female (internal) condoms, when used correctly and consistently, are very effective in preventing the sexual transmission of these infections.

Through CCDCP, eligible organizations may request free condoms, personal lubricant, dental dams and finger cots, when available. These organizations then provide items at no cost to individuals in their communities. We encourage individuals to support these local resources as a channel to acquire condoms.

Prevention Supplies

Due to necessary limitations, eligible programs should explore all options for acquiring safer sex materials, including through commercial suppliers. The CCDCP is not intended to be the sole source of condoms in Connecticut, even for organizations whose focus is HIV and STI prevention. The CCDCP should be utilized as a complement to other resources. Since resources for the CCDCP are limited, we periodically adjust the size of fulfillments in order to ensure safer sex supplies are available to as many organizations as possible.

We are also encouraging our community partners to develop and/or refine strategies for effective local distribution of condoms and promote the use of condoms, practice of safer sex, and management of sexual health.
