The official State Transportation Map encourages people to visit the many attractions across the Commonwealth. A gallery of State Transportation Maps dating back to 1922 can be found online at the VDOT Library Digital Collections.
A Scenic Byway is a road designated by the Commonwealth Transportation Board as having relatively high aesthetic or cultural value, leading to or within areas of historical, natural or recreational significance.
A perfect companion for those looking to explore by bicycle, “Bicycling in Virginia” provides major bicycle routes, bicycle clubs, information centers, and other resources. The map includes setting, terrain, elevation and surface conditions on selected routes, and enlargements of selected locations. Helpful information, including state and national parks, camp site, and family-friendly trails is also shown. Give us your feedback about the Bicycling in Virginia map.
