Free Club Nintendo Swag

Free Nintendo Swag

If you have a Nintendo DS or Wii, chances are you also buy games for those systems (otherwise what's the darn point of having the game system?!). Well if that's the case, you should head over to Club Nintendo, sign up for a free account, and then collect all the game cases and start looking through them. Inside each case should be a little sheet of paper with a registration code printed on the back. Enter it into your Club Nintendo account and you'll get 50 coins for each Wii game and 30 coins for each DS game. Then you can cash out the coins for free Nintendo swag or even a free DS game. My family had just enough games to earn 800 coins, so they cashed out and have a free game coming to them in the mail!

Free Gold Bond Samples & Coupons

I keep hearing the commercials for Gold Bond on the radio and I'd say that they're… strange, but I think that doesn't really touch on it.

But, as I step out into weather that's just about the same as it was Times Square at midnight, this free Gold Bond Ultimate Lotion sample sounds good for my dry skin. Heck, my skin is so dry and damaged, I'm actually thinking of getting a mani-pedi sometime soon to take care of the extremities and that problem…

They also have free Gold Bond coupons available on their site!

Free USB Thumb Drive Stick

Free USB Flash Drive

Some days, I don't know what I'd do without my USB flash drive. I can keep snippets of lyrics on it, Mobile Firefox, world domination plans, and pictures of my wife and cats.

So when I saw these offers for a free USB flash drive, well, I couldn't resist. I only hope that I can get a new one for my lunar domination plans. First? I'll need a fish bowl and some rocket shoes…

Here are the active USB thumb drive promos I've found. The professions in parenthesis are what you'll need to pretend to be 😉

If you find any more, please share in the comments!

Free Pizza Coupons

I don't think it's any great secret that the economy is nosediving right now and as such, coupons are becoming more and more valuable with each passing day. At the same time, what's the first thing to fly out the window whenever money gets tight? That's right, eating out. There's a whole slew of reasons to make your own meal every night: it's cheaper, usually healthier, etc.

But admit it, sometimes it's nice to treat ourselves to a large meat lovers pizza after a long week. That's why I thought it might be a good idea to put together a list of some pizza companies that offer free coupons & deals on their website. Here's to enjoying a little treat every now and then while lessening the wallop it puts on our wallet!

Spotlight: Gas Buddy & Gas Price Watch

One post I've got in the works is a list of websites that will help you save money and fellow freebie friend William sent in two more great additions for the upcoming post – Gas Buddy and Gas Prices from AAA!

The basic gist of both sites are to keep track of the ever fluctuating local gas prices thanks to user contributions. Think gas prices meets Wikipedia. While Gas Buddy seems to be the larger of the two, Gas Prices actually had info on my tiny town thanks to a local resident who seems to make updates every day. Looking at the map, I see the station nearest me (which I usually fill up at!) has gas at $2.10 while half a mile away I can find it at $1.89.

As a matter of fact, I even registered a free account on both sites and updated a price I saw today. That's the beauty of the sites. There's such a wide array of people contributing that the prices stay pretty current. So the next time you realize you may need to fill up soon, find the cheapest gas near and maybe plan your route home from work accordingly. You won't save millions, but even if you only save a few bucks every week, the savings add up quickly over a year!

Hey, It’s A Quick Favor

Over the past few months Hey, It's Free! has been featured in various newspapers, radio segments, and local news broadcasts. These pieces have brought with them new readers and more freebies, not to mention a source of entertainment for myself. The only problem is I typically have no idea when Hey, It's Free! is featured in such a piece!

So I have a quick favor to ask. If you've recently read, heard, or seen Hey, It's Free! in a news segment then please let me know. You can either leave a comment here or contact me privately and just say “I read about HIF in The Springfield Shopper” or “I saw HIF on KBBL last night.”

Consider such a kind act as your eternal freebie to me in exchange for all the wholesome goodness I try and provide every day 🙂 Thanks!

Free Emergency Radio

Wow, it feels like I haven't posted a freebie in years. I've finally vanquished the bubonic plague that tried to take me down this past week, so I guess it's back to normal from here on out. I'm not sure I remember how to post a freebie though. Let's see, I used to ramble a little bit and then I'd make an uncomfortable segue to the freebie, like this free emergency radio. Then I'd toss in a closing zinger to wrap up the post into a neat little package before hitting the “publish” button.

Phew, good to know I haven't lost my touch!

Free Emergency Radio Giveaway

While the freebie above has long since expired (I posted it almost 12 years ago!), we've been getting a ton of people looking for one of these lately. So I decided to run a giveaway for a free NOAA emergency radio with both solar and hand crank charging option!

Olympic Village Freebies & Amenities

Top Olympic Freebies – Paris 2024 Edition!

Whoa, the Olympics kind of snuck up on me this time around! For anybody new to the games, you might not realize that most Olympics athletes stay in what's called the Olympic Village.

And do you know what they have there? Freebies upon freebies upon glorious freebies.

So while you and I have zero access to them, I thought it might be cool to list some of the awesome freebies that the world's finest athletes are enjoying right now at the Paris 2024 Olympic games and beyond!

Note: I originally published this for the Beijing 2008 games, but I've updated it with new information and links every two years since!

Free Food

Free food in Olympic cafeteria for athletes

You'd think that elite athletes would eat nothing but healthy food during their training and for the most part, you'd be correct. However, since it takes a ton of work to make it to the Olympics, most athletes tend to take a break once they're finished competing and enjoy the finer aspects of dining. As Dutch rower Michiel Bartman put it:

The most fun thing I remember from the Olympic Village was the food court. It was huge, almost the size of two football fields, and great. So many choices of different and delicious food; you could try every night something else. McDonald’s is one of International Olympic Committee sponsors and were prominently placed in the food court as well.

Irish rugby player Harry McNulty shows a bit more of the cafeteria option in Tokyo 2021 when he took us on a tour in this video.

Of course, there's more than just junk food and candy. The Village has a ginormous cafeteria stocked with every food imaginable: fresh fruits, veggies, meat, breads, drinks, and everything else imaginable. If they don't have what you want, chances are one of the dozens of chefs cooking will be able to whip it up for you. As a matter of fact, I tried to apply for a spot as one of the chefs, but was told that my peanut butter & jelly sandwich specialty was already covered by somebody else.

The athletes don't have to worry about tainted food, either. After fears that commonly used pesticides and growth hormones might seep into the foods and trigger false positives during Olympic drug testing, China set up hundreds of organic farms to specifically grow food for the Olympians. However, they even went one step further and set up a tracking system for every single food item. So if a track star from Uganda thinks his carrots taste a little funny, it'll be no trouble tracking their history to see where they were grown and who handled them.

A quick side note: guess how many apples were eaten in the Beijing 2008 cafeteria? An estimated one million. Or to put it another way, they ate about 936,000 bananas, which is enough to circle the Olympic marathon route more than three times.

Free Coloring Pages

I'm gonna be honest, I thought this was some sort of elaborate spam at first glance. But in fact it's a search engine for free coloring pages and from what I can tell, it's legit. Let's say you your kid has their entire room decked out in unicorn posters. Well, just go to the site, search for “unicorns” and a few pages worth of results will pop up. Then print out a few and viola! You She can draw all night long.

Obviously, you'll need a printer and some black ink to print these out. But face it, what's more valuable: a few bucks worth of ink or potential hours of peace and quiet? Exactly, that's what I thought.

Juls & Goob Dressed Like Cows

Freebie Review – Dress Like A Cow Day!

I woke up last Friday already knowing about the free Slurpee's at 7-11, but it wasn't until around noon that I logged onto HIF and noticed the Dress Like A Cow Chick-Fil-A freebie. I didn't have anything planned for the day, my little sister was pretty bored, so a few hours later…

Free Firefighting Posters

Free Firefighting Posters

The U.S. Fire Administration have countless free publications available on their website. They have a whole host of pictographs, fire prevention posters, inforgraphs, handouts, pamphlets, and more.

I didn't order any since I'm a bit paste the stage where I put posters on my wall, but I'm sure there are a few parents out there who might be interested in getting a few for their kids. It's either these or a bunch of Hannah Montana & High School Musical posters, which incidentally are the #1 source of fires in the Goob household. I can't stand those freaking things and watching them burn is fun!

Free Dry Erase Whiteboard Marker Samples

Free Dry Erase Markers

Dry erase boards are awesome for hanging up next to your desk and being used to jot down important little notes and reminders that you promptly forget all about after writing them. Of course, you'll need a few free dry erase markers to write down that appointment next week that you'll miss or the phone call to return that you never will!

The sites listed below offer free pens for your whiteboards. In order to get your free dry erase marker sample, click the “Request a Free Sample” button on each site and fill out the shipping form.

These black markers are used for printing promotional samples, so they won't be brand name like expo markers. But they'll come full of ink and in many cases, they are unbranded markers from similar name brand supplies. So the freebies work perfect for classroom use, around the house, or in office settings. These markers also clean off white boards with normal alcohol or xylene cleaner.

You might get a follow-up email asking if you want to purchase more erasers or different colors, but these are not a bill. They're just an upsell attempt that can be ignored.

Sometimes you can get free whiteboard markers from sites like PINCHme too. I don't believe they currently have any samples, but it's always worth checking to see if they've restocked lately!
