Robinhood: Free Share of Stock, some $200+!

It's hard not to love this free stock program from Robinhood. Thankfully, this promotion is still kicking in the new year, so be sure to pick up your free stock using the guide below.

Be sure not to miss out on this! 3,400+ Hiffers have now joined and gotten free stock worth over $5,000 $12,500(!) $16,500(!!) $20,000(!!!) since I first published this. Nine Hiffers received shares of Apple, worth $175, and eight more Hiffers received shares of Facebook, worth $328!

And don't forget Webull also gives out free stock shares to new customers!

I'm not a huge stock trader. I'm more of a sock trader, in that I'm always unwittingly trading left socks with the gremlin in my washing machine.

When I first started investing, I found tradition brokerage fees of $7 per trade to be way too expensive. That's why I joined Robinhood many years ago and never looked back. It's an online brokerage with commission-free trading and no monthly fees designed for beginners. It's available from both a desktop computer or mobile app on your smartphone.

What sets Robinhood apart are their no-fee trades, which means you never pay a commission or transaction fees when you buy and sell stocks or cryptos. The concept of free stock trading was so popular, that now other trading apps have copied Robinhood!

It's also completely safe, as it's officially licensed & regulated by FINRA and are regulated by SIPC just like all the big Wall Street or financial companies, like Charles Schwab or Vanguard.

As luck would have it, Robinhood is running a promo giving away free share of stock to anybody who joins! For no money whatsoever, you can get a free share of a surprise stock. While it's completely random what you get and the value of your stocks, but you have a 1-in-100 chance to get a value of at least $20 and 1-in-1000 get at least $50 in reward stock.

The minimum lowest stock you can get is a fractional share priced at $5, so you're guaranteed at least something! You can also convert your free stock into any other stock or into crypto like bitcoin or ethereum.

As of 2023, you have a chance at getting stock in the following portfolio of S&P 500 companies:

  • Apple (AAPL)
  • Microsoft (MSFT)
  • Amazon (AMZN)
  • Facebook (FB)
  • Alphabet Inc. Class A (GOOGL)
  • Tesla (TSLA)
  • NVidia Corp. (NVDA)
  • Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.B)
  • Nike (NKE)
  • Disney (DIS)
  • Visa (V)
  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)
  • Walmart (WMT)
  • Procter & Gamble (PG)
  • Comcast (CMCSA)
  • General Motors (GM)
  • Eli Lilly (LLY)
  • Honeywell International (HON)
  • Applied Materials (AMAT)

How to Get a Free Share of Stock

Free Johnson & Johnson stock

Hiffer Jenn recently got a free share of Johnson & Johnson worth over $138!

To get your free share of stock, simply join and wait for your account to be approved. This typically takes less than one business day. Remember, you must be a new Robinhood account holder who hasn't previously registered an account!

You must be referred by somebody in order to get your free share, so it's important you go through a link here on HIF. You can only have 1 account per person, so they confirm your identity with your social security number (similar to how tobacco freebies work!) using bank-level SSL and 128-bit encryption.

After your account is approved, open the app and click on the “Free Stock” link in the menu. You should then have a share of stock to claim! You then have to wait 2 business days before you can sell the stock and then wait another 30 days before you can transfer & withdraw the money out of the app and into your bank account.

At this point, you can also earn additional free stock shares by sending your referral link to friends and family. As you invite friends to open free accounts, you'll get up to $500 more in free stock per calendar year.

As the numbers show at the top of this post, HIF has a lot of readers who've taken advantage of this great off. A ton of them earned shares of those mega expensive stocks! In fact, I'd love for Hiffers to share what they got in the comments just so we could see how much free money was given out.

Robinhood has complete full terms and overview of this promo on their site, which are very easy to read. They also contain some frequently asked questions about the rules, regulations, and referral program.

So there you have it! So if you've ever wondered if the free stock from Robinhood offer was legit, now you see it clearly is! Fingers crossed you're one of the lucky Hiffers to hit it big with a share of Facebook or Apple. Good luck!

  1. So I used your website when Robinhood was running this promotion a few years ago, and I won a share of Apple stock! I don’t know how to use any of this stuff, so I’ve just ignored it this whole time, but today I logged back into Robinhood, and somehow I now have 4 shares of Apple stock valued at a total of $551.95! My husband said it must have split or something. I don’t know! But thanks again, Goob!! 😀 Maybe I’ll actually learn how to invest now!

    • NO WAY! Hahaha, congratulations on the discovery 😀 Apple had a 4:1 split this past summer, so your 1 share became 5 – and it’s gone up like 25% since then!

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us, I got a huge kick out of it.

  2. Just signed up and got a free stock (Corbus Pharmaceuticals valued at $5.27). Side tip, you don’t have to put a bunch of money into your account to get the free stock. You can type in something as low as $0.01 into the “other” box at the bottom when it suggests how much to transfer into your account. Good luck and hopefully you’ll get one of the stocks that is worth over $100!

    • You don’t have to make a deposit to claim your free stock. Once bank account is linked to app you must wait for RH to make a deposit, which usually takes 2 or 3 days. Once done you must then let the app know the amount to verify account before you have access to your funds. Your free stock can be claimed as soon as RH account is created.

  4. I used the link to signup but did not get my free stock. They are asking the below info to credit my account.

    Hi,

If you believe we didn’t count your invite properly, please send us your friend’s email address associated with their Robinhood account, as well as who invited whom.

Once we collect this information, we’ll be able to evaluate your account for a share of free stock. In the meantime

  5. Does anyone know how long it takes them to make the initial two deposits into my bank account (in order to verify it)? My application was accepted almost immediately and I got my free stock shortly thereafter (sadly, no Apple, but I’m still very excited about this deal!), but my bank account is still needing to be verified. Thanks!

The articles say it’s set to explode soon and that was from Yahoo.com. Bless you Mr. Goob for telling me about the website! I hope your Thanksgiving was good and I do pray over you everyday. I added you to my prayer list when you weren’t feeling well, a few years back. Anyway, happy holidays upcoming and thanks for what you do for us all! Much love!!

  8. Has anyone had any success at withdrawing funds from sale of the free stock? Every time I check in, the balance shows, but “available” funds are zero.

  9. Signed up through a link on the post on the pc, they didn’t have my bank option so I skipped that and they made me download the app to use it. Signed it and free stock option just shows how to refer others. What did I do wrong?

  10. Does the free stock show up immediately? I entered the deposit amounts this morning, even added money to the account (which I know I didn’t have to do) and nothing is showing under the “free stocks” except the option to refer others. Any advice?

  11. I got CHK (Chesapeake Energy Corp like so many others – darn), which has dramatically dropped now to $4.10 since the pic above! Oh well, it’s free. I didn’t have to align a bank account. I’m not much of an app person and would rather do this by desktop, but I tried to log in and it says the web version isn’t “ready yet.” Hmm.

    • Like tobacco freebies, they’re federally legally required to verify your identity (Tobacco freebies to verify they’re not marketing to people under 18, whereas Robinhood to make sure you’re not illegally laundering money or anything) It’s similar to how banks have to ask for it if you’re opening a new account with them.

    • This got really complicated.. first had to send photo of my driver’s license, verify a bank account, and then send a photo of my social security card (which I was most definitely NOT comfortable with). Contacted them several times via e-mail inquiring if there was another way and was told no. Then after all of that, they said I would have to unfreeze my credit report. Just not worth the hassle or risk of exposing all of my personal information. My regular Capital One stock account did not require all of this.

    • It should be rather quickly. Most Hiffers had their accounts approved within a day, but my brother’s account has been pending for 3 days and just emailed Robinhood. I’d reach out to them.

  12. I also did not receive the free stock. Do I need to initiate an inquiry first, or can you “add me” now that I have an account?

  13. Your instructions, above, said to download the app first, which is what I did – then saw that you have a link here to sign-up. I’m already signed up now from the app. Don’t see anything in the app or my e-mail about a free stock. Help?

      • I honestly don’t know. You have to be referred by a friend in order to receive the free stock for some reason. That’s why I linked to the site as many times as possible in the post.

It might be a longshot, but I think your best bet is to contact Robinhood, you can tell them your friend michaec3582 referred you and see what they say.

      • I downloaded the app as you did after clicking the link in Goob’s post. I did this less than two days ago, and just got an email verifying my account. As soon as I logged in and scrolled down a bit, there was a dialog box that said, “Click here for your free stock,” which I did. I got ZNGA at $3.84. Do you have a freeze on your credit that prevents you from opening new accounts, by any chance?

        • Hey, Belinda – no, I got approved right away, but no dialog box or anything about any free stock. I think it’s due to the way Goob has it worded – he says to download the app first and then click on the link, but at that point, it’s too late. Should have clicked on the link first (which brings you to the page to sign up.) I’ll contact them directly to see what they can do to help. Thanks!

  14. CHK at $4.04. Unfortunately, no dividends. I was going to put it into reinvestment and be set for life in a little over 400 years.

  15. Hi Goob, I also did not get my free stock and they are asking for the username that sent me the invite. Please advise so we can both get one. Thank you.

  16. I joined through the link and it won’t let me get free stock. I’ve contacted them and they’re asking for my username and my friend’s username. Oh well.

  17. I got Groupon @ $5.44, thanks!

And I didn’t have to deposit money. Look for the “Skip” at the top of the page during that part of setup. ??

    • They’ll send you an itemized tax form in early 2018 with any info you need that’s super easy to use or give to your accountant. Mine always has a bunch of empty boxes with only 1 or 2 filled out with numbers that I need to enter, just like a W-2 or 1099-MISC.

  18. It’s not *completely* free – you still have to make some initial deposit in order to set up a new account. But thankfully it let me do “Other” and type in $0.01. We’ll see if the account gets approved.

    • You should be able to skip that screen. I walked my mom through this last night and she didn’t make any initial deposit, but still got the free stock.
