Freebies I’ve Received: Week 4

Freebies from Hey, It's Free!

Quite a haul this week! Although, to be fair, this included nine days worth of freebies. As usual, I’ve linked to any freebie offers that are still available.

Freebies Received

So what all did you get this week? Leave a comment or upload a picture to the photo album on HIF’s Facebook page!

Free Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic on 02/27

Free Lowes Build & Grow Clinic

There’s another free Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic this Saturday, February 27, which means it’s time for the LOWEBOT! I bet it has lasers and rocket launchers all over it. And a flamethrower! You gotta have a flamethrower. And don’t lecture me about those being too dangerous for kids. Nothing builds character like frying off your eyebrows at age eight.

As usual, space is limited, so you need to register on-line beforehand.

Free Bora Bora Snack Bar

Free Bora Bora Snack Bar

While hunting for contests last night, I came across this free Bora Bora snack bar that also carries with it a chance to win a trip for two to the island of Bora Bora. The trip is supposed to be a couples getaway, but let’s pretend for a minute that you’re single and you win the prize. Who should you take? No, you’re wrong, that was supposed to be a trick question – the answer is me.

More companies need to start offering contests like this. I could really go for a Seattle’s Best trip sometime during baseball season. No, wait, Moon Pies! Although I think some companies, like Hell’s Kitchen, should just stick to giving away free food.

Try Your Luck Thursday 02/25/2010

After missing the TYLT post last week, a bet a lot of you thought I’d just give up on this little venture. Well HA! Look at me now, putting together another post tonight! I think I deserve a victory beverage. *runs off to grab another drink*

No! Focus, Goob! You kept congratulating yourself last week and look where that got you.

Stride Rite shoes are giving away a Whirlpool Duet steam washer & dryer as well as a year’s supply of Tide detergent. If a Hiffer wins this, I demand they use the entire supply of Tide all at once and then film the ensuing hilarity. Ends 03/13.

Woman’s Day has a ton of giveaways available, including a Serena & Lily sheet set, tote & clutch made from repurposed candy wrappers, and different hair care products.

Elle must be owned by the same company as WD, because their sweepstakes page looks exactly the same. They’re offering free t-shirts, a Remington hair iron, and far more.

Here’s a contest to certainly bookmark. Goway is handing out 40 trips in 40 weeks. The next trip up is a 10-day excursion to the Cook Islands & New Zealand. Ends 03/28.

AT&T is giving away seven Acer Aspire One Netbooks, 195 Pantech cell phones, 175 Flip MinoHD camcorders, and hundreds more. Ends 04/03.

And finally, here’s a contest I would love to win. The Netherlands Board of Tourism is giving away a trip to Amsterdam plus a diamond valued at $3299. I don’t wear jewelry, but if I had a three grand diamond, I’d be getting my ring size tomorrow. Ends 03/05.

Swagbucks 2nd Birthday

Free Swagbucks Code

Today marks the 2nd birthday of Swagbucks, a site I’ve written about extensively on HIF. The way I’ve always explained it is that it’s like Google + Prizes. You search on Swagbucks as you normally would on Google or Bing, but the added benefit is that you’ll randomly win Swagbucks, which can be exchanged for prizes.

To celebrate their 2nd anniversary, all new members can use code FREESWAGCODE1 to earn 60 free Swagbucks. If that sounds like a whole heck of a lot to all the old users, that’s because starting today, Swagbucks is multiplying all of their codes and prizes by ten. So instead of winning 1 or 2 Swagbucks per search, you’ll now win 10 or 20.

Furthermore, their giving away a ton of prizes today as well. If you read Swagbucks’ blog, Facebook, or Twitter, you’ll be able to follow along as they drop hints where you can find more codes.1 I can wink wink, nudge nudge where an additional free 20 SB code is found. While on their main page, look at the very top gray toolbar and you’ll see five drop down tabs. Click on the right-most one and you’ll see seven options. One of those happens to be a free swagcode. I can’t say which, but you’ll know when you score the points! You’ll need to remove the space and make it one word.2

So what has everybody won through Swagbucks so far? I’ve scored a few Amazon giftcards and am almost ready to cash out on another.

  1. there are a ton of people posting tips and clues on their Facebook page []
  2. for instance, if the seventh line said “Cool Stuff,” then the code would be CoolStuff []

Free Classical Favorites CD

If you’re a fan of good music, then be sure to download this Classical Favorites Sampler from Amazon. I used to get bored listening to classical music as a kid, but my tune changed once I created a game where I got one point for each movie or TV show I could think of that used whatever song I was listening to.

From just looking at this freebies playlist, I could immediately score 10 points. My all-time record is pretty high, but I have confidence that my procrastinating and stubborn tendencies could help me break it today – if I wanted. Some call them annoying habits, I call them skills!

Free Blockbuster Express Rental Code

Free Blockbuster Express Code

I received an e-mail with a free Blockbuster Express Rental Code of GOLIVE, which expires on March 3. The e-mail was about how BE now lets you reserve movies on-line and pick them up at the kiosk, so I’m not sure if that’s what you’ll have to do in order to use the code, but better safe than sorry.

There’s also code BBXCES, which expires Feb. 28. I gotta say, these codes are putting Redbox to shame. It’s like there’s a new Cold Freebie War brewing between the two companies. I’ve got my money on Blockbuster, but then again I’ll probably switch sides as soon as Redbox releases their next code. What can I say, I’m fickle. I’d make for a horrible soldier, and that’s without taking my fears of guns, dirt, or loud noises into effect.

Free 8×10 Walgreens Photo (02/25)

Walgreens is offering yet another free 8×10 photo print for today only. You can either print out the coupon I just linked to or order online and pick up the photo in store with code FREEPHOTO.

I managed to order a photo from my recent trip, but picking one proved difficult. Not because there were too many awesome photos to choose from, but because I operate a camera like a drunken monkey. If psycopathic aliens invaded Earth and threatened to blow up the planet unless I took three non-blurry photos in a row, well…let’s just say I hope everybody is at peace with themselves.

Also, they have a deal going on where you can get 30 prints for $3 with the coupon code WINTER30. It expires on Feb. 27, so you’ve got a day or two.

Free Juicy Juice Cup

In October of 2006, I posted a link to a free Juicy Juice sippy cup. Here we are three and a half years later and this freebie is still rocking.

The cup is a tad small and I don’t have kids, but it holds a perfect cocktail. Sure, it looks weird drinking a gin and tonic out of a sippy cup, but it’s the perfect solution for my inherent clumsiness.
