With rising gas costs and summer road trip season in full gear, I thought this post from the HIF archives might be helpful. I first posted about AAA's free fuel cost calculator back in May 2006 – twenty freaking years ago!
This tool lets you set a start and end point (plus any stops along the way), then it pulls local fuel price data to give you a rough estimate of how much your drive will cost in gasoline. They don't have every single city to choose from, but instead you pick the nearest major city – and minor cities in other cases, let's be real.
After seeing how much it's gonna cost me to get to the beach this summer, I might just stay home and fill my bathtub with lukewarm water instead! 🛀 🏖️
