QUICK UPDATE: I’ve noticed that many of these offers not only send you a free coupon on your birthday, but will also send you a coupon the very day you sign up for the club AND at every one year anniversary of you signing up. Throw in all the free coupons they send around your birthday and you can get multiple meals a year for free

I recently saw a site that had compiled a list of restaurants and other eateries that gave away free birthday food. I thought it was such a good idea, that I decided to make an even better list here on HIF. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy free stuff, especially around the time of year when you don’t like thinking about getting older? Well now you don’t have to focus on the added candle on your cake and instead can smile when you get a free meal or such!
The original list I found hadn’t been updated in over two years, so I used it to start with, cleaned it up, and then added all the others I found on the net. Many of these offers and coupons will only be e-mailed to you, so be sure to sign up in advance!
And remember, all deals are up to the specific restaurants and thus some might not participate. So if you’re standing in the middle of Taco Bell screaming for a free taco and they aren’t budging, don’t come crying to me! Also, feel free to add / refute any places you do / don’t see here!

Acapulco – Hiffer Crystal sent in this tip: “100% free meal for your bday! No purchase necessary! They send out the coupons about a week before your bday via email and best of all the coupons don’t have a unique barcode on them, so I use them several times at different locations every year! Plus they can be used on any meal including the most expensive ones!”
Alfy’s Pizza – Free mini pizza for kids 12 and under.
Amato’s Sandwich Shop – Join the Tamatos Club and get a free birthday sandwich.
Applebees – Free dessert. They also have a newsletter, but no word if it sends out a birthday coupon or not.
Arby’s – Sign up and get coupons year round, including on your birthday.
Atlanta Bread Company – They have a VIP eClub that you can sign up for, gaining you a free cookie on your birthday.
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels – They’ll send you monthly coupons all year long if you sign up for their newsletter, so it’s pretty safe to guess you’ll get a birthday treat.
Austin Grill – Sign up and get a free meal.
Bakers Square – Sign up for the eClub and get a free pie.
Baskin Robbins – Get a free ice cream treat if you sign up for their Birthday Club.
Beef ‘O’ Brady’s – They’ll send you a coupon for a free appetizer.
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream – Become a Chunk Spelunker and you can get some free ice cream!
Benihana’s Japanese Restaurant – They’ll send you a $30 gift certificate valid during the month of your birthday.
BD’s – Join Club Mongo and get a little something something on your birthday!
BJ’s Restaurants – Free Pazookie!! (otherwise known as a delicious dessert.)
Black Angus Steakhouse – Receive a complimentary dessert for joining the BA Prime Club and a free steak dinner for your birthday!
Bob Evans – Free kids meal for anybody under the age of 12.
Boston Market – Free kids B-Day meal coupon for kids under 12 and coupons online for their various entrees.
Bonanza Steakhouse – Yet another free birthday surprise that I can’t figure out what exactly is! Oh well, just join their club and find out when they e-mail you.
Bruster’s – I’m not sure what the freebie coupon they send you is worth, but I know one comes since their own “contact us” page mentions that Sweet Rewards members get a birthday treat.
Buca di Beppo – Sign up for their eClub and get a free dessert.
Buffalo Wild Wings – Free dessert with a $5 purchase. (click on the tree house in the upper left corner on their site!)
Burger King – Free kids meal to all kids club members.
California Pizza Kitchen – Free kids meal during the month of their birthday if you register first.
Captain D’s – Join their D’s Club and get a coupon for $3 off any meal, among other freebies.
Caribou Coffee – They’ll send you a coupon for a free drink on your birthday.
Carrows – Free cake plus a free dessert now just for signing up.
Cattlemen’s – Free dessert and cowboy hat (I’d go just for the cowboy hat!)
Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse – Sign up and get a free dessert plus points for every dollar spent.
Chevy’s – Free dessert and sombrero (First a cowboy hat, then a sombrero…heck yeah!)
Chicken of the Sea – Join their Mermaid Club and they’ll send you a free birthday gift. I’m just hoping it’s not a tuna-flavored cake or anything…
Chili’s – Free dessert if you join their club.
Claim Jumper – Free dessert if you join now.
Coldstone Creamery – Join now and get a free creation on your birthday. (My…God…Is…This…Delicious…)
Country Buffet – Join the Mega Bar Meal club and get not only a free meal on your birthday, but a free meal just for signing up!
Culvers – Free sundae as well as a few printable coupons when you first sign up.
Dairy Queen – Free ice cream coupon via e-mail for kids 16 and under. They also have a Blizzard Club for adults with the same offer.
Damon’s Steakhouse – Here’s a little trick. All you have to do is make a new email address, sign up, and within 24 hours they will send you 10 bucks off your meal, with the purchase of another comparably priced meal. So every time you and a friend go, you can get $10 off no matter what. Plus, they send you a few coupons for your birthday!
Del Taco – Get two free soft tacos now and a free premium milkshake on your birthday.
Denny’s – Free meal & sundae to kids under 10 as long as you sign up ahead of time.
Don Pablos – Free $10 gift certificate after joining the Don Pablo Habanero Club.
Einstein Bros Bagels – Not sure what their eClub will send you, but it’s probably a coupon for a free bagel.
El Chicos – I’m told you get a free dessert, but I haven’t been able to confirm this.

Flat Top Grill – Join their E-mail Club and get a coupon for a free stir fry on your birthday.
Friendly’s – Free ice cream cone if you join their birthday club.
Fuddruckers – They have a Fudd Club for both adults and kids. They used to give out ice cream on your birthday, but we’re in the process of finding out if this is still the case.
Glory Days Grill – Free sundae on your birthday if you sign up in advance.
Gold Star Chili – Get a free dessert on your birthday, plus a free treat on your anniversary of joining up AND a free appetizer just for joining.
Gordon Biersch – They say you get a special “e-gift” on your birthday, which kayce e-mailed me to say is a Buy One Get One coupon for an entree.
Hard Rock Cafe – Free dessert
Hometown Buffet – Join the Mega Bar Meal club and get not only a free meal on your birthday, but a free meal just for signing up!
Hooters – Free song & T-shirt (Pretty soon here I’m going to have an entire outfit!) If you live on the west coast, there’s even a Hooters Club for you to join up with.
Houlihan’s – Free coupon for an entree during your next visit up to a week after b-day (Kinda complicated…but free!)
Joe’s Crab Shack – Free cake if you join their club.
Juice It Up – They promise to give you a “birthday gift” but their website doesn’t say what it is. Might be worth signing up for though.
Keg Steakhouse and Bar – Hiffer Jospeh reports they’ll give you a 10oz. prime rib dinner with Caesar salad during your birthday month, Sunday-Thursday only. You might want to call ahead to confirm this though.
Keva – The Keva Klub promises free coupons around the time of your birthday.
Krispy Kreme – Free half dozen glazed donuts and a coffee mug with either coffee or soda in it! You might want to sign up ahead of time.
Logan’s Roadhouse – Join their Nut Club and get a coupon for a free slice of cheesecake. Sometimes they’ll sing for you as well.
Macaroni Grill – Free dessert plus an OPERA-style “Happy Birthday” song, which is always…fun?
la Madeleine – Yet another on-line birthday club that will send you coupons for free food around your birthday.
Maggianos – $10 off purchase of $20 if you sign up in advance.
Mainstreet Ventures (Large chain of different restaurants, click to see if any are near you.) – Up to 50% off your meal. It’s based on the number of people in your party. For example, 2 people dining = 50% off. 3 People dining = 33% off, 4 people dining = 25%, etc.
Marble Slab Creamery – Kids can join the Marble Slab Kids Club and get a free ice cream cone on their birthday up to age 12.
Marie Calenders – Join their eClub and get free offers not only on your birthday, but anniversary as well!
Memphis BBQ – Coupon good for a free Rack of Ribs & strawberry shortcake, but you must sign up on their website 24 hours in advance.
Moe’s Southwest Grill – Signup for their newsletter and get a coupon for a free burrito. They also have a birthday club for kids under 10.
Mongolian’s B.B.Q. – Signup for their Club Mongo and you’ll get a coupon for a free birthday meal.
Noodles & Company – Signup for their newsletter and they’ll send ya a coupon for a free meal right around our birthday!
Not Your Average Joe’s – Sign up for their e-mail club and get a coupon sent to you for a free entree on your birthday!
O’Charley’s – I remember getting quite a few free desserts over the years from them! They have an E-News club that you can sign up at to get the coupons.

On The Border – Free appetizer if you sign up.

Swiss Chalet – Get a free appetizer just for joining the Rotisserie-mail plus a free birthday surprise.
Taco Bell – Free combo meal of your choice.
Taco Del Mar – They sent me a coupon for a free Grilled Chicken Taco Salad that was valid for the month of my birthday.
Texas De Brazil – Sign up for their e-club and they’ll send you a $40 gift certificate! This place can be pricey, but it’s soooo worth it.
Texas Roadhouse – They send a coupon for one free appetizer or sidekick of ribs.
TGI Friday’s – Free birthday dessert plus free appetizer just for signing up!
The Fox and Hound – Free appetizer just for joining plus free entree on your birthday.
The Old Spaghetti Factory – Kids 12 and under get a free meal.
The Palm – 3lb lobster, but you must be a member first and follow a few rules.

Disney Theme Parks – Free admission to either Disney Land or Disney World on your birthday in 2009.
Food Pavilion Grocery – Free movie rental
Harkins – Free movie (Some say they got free movie, others only got free popcorn)
Hollywood Video – Free video rental if you sign up in advance.
Medieval Times – Sign up in advance and they’ll send you a free ticket (worth $53!) to one of their feast and tournaments.
Ringling Brothers Circus – Sign your newborn up for a free ticket to the circus that never expires. Then just save it until your little one has a birthday later on and give it to them!

Ten Ren – Hiffer Bethany sent in a tip that her local Ten Ren has a sign offering a free Bubble Tea on your birthday with photo identification.
Toys R Us – Sign up ahead of time and once your child’s birthday rolls around, they’ll get a personalized letter in the mail. Plus, bring your child into any Toys R Us and they’ll get a hat, balloon, have their birthday announced over the loudspeaker, and then be greeted by all the employees while they walk around!

I don’t think you have to sign up for anything with Taco Bell. They simply will give it to you for free in store if you show them your ID.

Benihana’s doesn’t give free meals for 3 people, I’ve gone plenty of times on birthdays and never anything free except a small piece of this weird cake.

Hallmark gives you a coupon for $5 off or 20% off your entire purchase one time during the month of your birthday. To get this you must have a gold crown card and remember to put your birthday down to be able to get your coupon. A gold crown card is great – as you make purchases you earn coupons and they mail them to you. It is great!!
Well, my birthday is tomorrow. So I’m going on this freebie hunt. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Perkins does not give you a free stack of pancakes, and Golden Coral doesn’t give you a free meal either. They have no birthday club.
Our local Taco Bell does not participate. Hope you have better luck.
Our Chick-fil-a says they dont have any birthday give aways.
The local Buffalo Wild Wings says they don’t even give a dessert or sing to you, let alone a dozen wings. The only thing they will do is wish you a Happy Birthday. so sorry….

The Olive Garden at Metro Center in Phoenix, AZ doesn’t give free cakes, only a song. The cake is $3.50.

If you get a Victoria’s Secret Credit Card you can get a 10 free gift card on your birthday. Also… I worked at the Olive Garden and I know that it is their corporate policy to NOT give anything but the Buena Festa song for a birthday. Cake costs extra : )

To add to the comment made about Coldstone Creamery. If you go online and join their birthday club, you can also get free ice cream for 4 family members as well,you need to know their birtdays. They will alarm you through e-mail to let you know when you can print out the coupon, and you don’t have to use it on the actual day. You have up until after a week to use the coupon. They are great to send in birthday cards for family that are in another state ! Also like Zeeterman said, this is every year for yourself, and you can switch the family members names out as well !

Woo Hoo! It’s my birthday today and I’m going to Marie Calendar’s for my lunch and free pie. Then for dinner it’s off to Taco Bell for my free combo. SCORE one for this 42 year old! WOO HOOO!!!
This is great, I was looking for something like this for my family. Its hard enough to spend a lot of money on that special day, but to throw in a couple of free goodies makes it better. By the way Toys r Us, I heard if you sign up for their kids club they will send your child a free toy & gift certificate. But I know for sure if you’re part of the kids club. Go in on your childs birthday and they get a free birthday balloon, geofrey birthday hat, and they announce the childs birthday on the intercom and tell all the associates as well as customers to wish your child a happy birthday. They walk around the store like a star. Hope this helps!

Last year Gordon Biersch was buy one entree get one free via an email coupon after you sign up. I think they also send an email coupon for a free appetizer when you sign up and on the 1 year anniversary of the day you join their club. Won’t have this year’s coupon for 2 more days…

For all the girls out there, Philosophy.com offers a free gift on your birthday.
The Toys ‘R Us one wasn’t anything like that last time we used it. We took his card in to get his “prize” & the lady just said blankly, “you can pick something out of that cart.” The toys in the cart weren’t even dollar store quality. None of the other things listed that they supposidly do were offered.
There is also a restaurant in Houghton Lake, MI called Coyle’s that has a great buffet & if you sign up for their birthday club you get a coupon in the mail for $7.50 off either food or in their gift shop (which is VERY nice).
I called every Taco Bell in the metro Detroit area and none of them had heard of the free meal on birthdays, just so people know.

I was at Fuddruckers and at Krispy Kreme on my round birthday some days ago. Neither of them had anything for free, nor did they even know about any birthday special. I had to pay fully and I was so disappointed that I gave up to go anywhere else also.

You people must check out the websites of the restaurant or establishment before going. DUD!! I check which Taco Bells in my city were owned by GenTech and found that there were none in my state; so I just did not go there for the free meal. I check out which places were in my state and city and then made sure to see if there were any near me. Don’t expect the webmaster to do every thing. If you are old enought ot get onl line you are old enough to do some of your own homework. FYI Cheesecake factory does not give a free dessert….meaning you don’t get free cheesecake. You get a birthday sundae which is TINY and comes in a MINI little “shot” sized sundae glass. If you live in the Washington state area check out Dukes Chowder House. Its a must!!! I went to the one at the South Center Mall in Tukwilla. I went all by me self after doing a bit of shopping today. My birthday isnt until the 29th but, I got a coupon for a meal. Not buy one, get one either. I went at happy hour and bought a tequila driver (not free, but only $2.50) and ordered the Macacamia Halibut in a Hazelnut buerre blanc sauce. Oh my Lord! It was soooo delicious. So fresh. So tasty. It was normally $26.99. I got it FREE!! It came with asparagus (awesome) and a lovely rice pilaf. I just paid for my drink and of course left a good tip (as if I paid for the whole thing) You must try it and also the chowder is pretty darn good too!

For the taco bell free combo, this is what I found out: Birthday club members must be residents of Missouri or Illinois to be eligible. So that is why some get it for free and others do not.

It’s good to know about.
A few glitches (not a surprise considering the age of the list):
#1. This might be temporary but… TGIFridays has a small but important glitch on their website. It will let me fill out all the fields to sign up for their “Give Me More Stripes” membership, but won’t actually do anything no matter how often I hit “Submit”. It doesn’t crash or anything (the server works fine on other pages of their site), but the software won’t work. When I hit “Submit”, the application screen with all my info on it just sits there, instead of being inputted into their system.
#2. Your Ben & Jerry’s link is now broken. To sign up for Chunk Spelunker, use this link instead: http://www.benjerry.com/contact-us/chunk-spelunker.cfm There is no mention of free ice cream, but there is a mysterious “And more” listed.
#3. Your Arby’s link is now broken. The page it takes me to says that the security certificate has expired. However, the Arby’s website does have this similar sounding offer instead: https://arbysextras.fishbowl.com/forms/arbys/join.asp
#4. Your DQ Blizzard Club (adult freebie) link is now completely dead. If you click it, it now takes you to a page advertising Mercury Magazines, with a chance to get a free copy of Automobile magazine. Your children’s link still takes you to the DQ website, but to an outdated page (with redirect links on it). Looking at the DQ website, they now only advertise a buy one get one free coupon for signing up (and no mention of a distinction between children vs. adults).
F.Y.I. It’s not on this list, but for anyone tempted to sign their pet up for PetSmart’s supposed free birthday card + gift for your pet, it only applies to dogs and cats. I was a bit disappointed when all 4 of my my pets’ birthdays came and I never heard anything from them, not even a coupon. This dog/cat limitation was NOT mentioned anywhere on the in-store paper application (what I filled out). It is however clearly mentioned if you use their online application instead. Not a big deal, but still a little disappointing to learn only after their birthdays.

I only go there about 6 times a year — mostly Tampa, today’s coupon that we will be using so happens to land on Seafood Buffet night at the Green Harvest Restaurant and is good for 2 free buffets ($35 each., $30 each w/players card. thats a $60 free meal!!!) and they also gave a $30 free play coupon for slots………… its always a great time there tho– free meal of not

Goob, just want to thank you now and then for all the great freebies my husband and I get because of you. There is a free coupon in my mailbox or on the computer almost every day these days. We have received 3 coupons for free packages of Oscar Meyer beef hotdogs, which were worth up to $4.50 each, plus 4 or 5 coupons for free candy bars. Also, some time ago, we received 3 coupons for free 2-liter bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper. Thanks so much. Just today, we redeemed a coupon for a free birthday meal at Ryan’s Buffet; my husband just had to pay for one buffet (less than $7 for both).

JCPenney’s sent me a $5 off any $5 purchase or more coupon to my email that I could print out on my birthday. Sweet. Newport sends out a bunch of coupons for your birthday. Fashion Bug and Famous Footwear too. Love it!!!

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this but, sadly, the Krispy Kreme birthday freebie isn’t as posted. I signed up two years ago and have received e-mails occasionally but have never received anything from corporate for my birthday. Maybe call your local store and find out if they offer things. My husband and son signed up this year, hoping that maybe it was just something I missed out on and they didn’t get anything either. *sigh* I was looking forward to the free donuts.
Toys’r'us also sends out $3 gift cards to the kids club members. Panera bread also has a newsletter and birthday club. They send out coupons for various items every month and extra ones on your birthday and anniversary. The Melting Pot also has a birthday club- you get a chocolate fondue-it’s worth $14.
I don’t know if you got this one or not, but if you live in or around the Ann Arbor, MI area, the world famous Zingerman’s deli….serious, it is world famous, it was on the Food Network and everything….anyway, they will give you 6….that’s SIX, folks….free bagels on your birthday….Their stuff is made using only the best, so it’s usually expensive….Here’s a chance to get something from them for free….It’s worth the drive if you aren’t that far away and if you’re a starving student at the U of M, hunger no more…..Nothing to sign up for, just show them proof of your birthday….and before you know it, you’re walking away with your free bagels.

It’s obvious that this list must have taken awhile, and a lot of patience to update. I know you hear it all the time, but thank you for HIF, and all your hard work . I can stay on your site for hours, but it would take forever for me to find the great stuff you find…. Can I offer a tip? If you contact most any company , and ask them for coupons or samples of their products or food,and ask them to send them via snail mail, you are more than likely to get some really good deals. They usually respond very well, especially when you have good things to say about their products, or if you express an interest in trying what they’re trying to sell. This works for groceries, restaurants, and pretty much anything you can think of. It really works!

Pedros restaurant in Los Gatos gives free birthday dinners/lunch for birthdays. Just ask at the front desk or your waiter can help. They also have been offering one combination meal for 13.95 for free and usually the waiter will give you one when you pay your bill. We love it. Thanks for all your good work.

Birthday has now come and gone, and this was awesome!! Especially all the free ice cream! I ended up having to spend my birthday stuck on the complete other side of the country from every single person I know. Being able to redeem these freebies helped salvage some of my birthday! Thank-you HIF!
Never received anything from either Firehouse Subs or Quiznos, despite signing up. However, months ago Quiznos did give me the BOGO coupon for a torpedo (not a Sammie) when I originally signed up and they have continued to e-mail me advertisements every few weeks. Just no birthday freebie. Never heard a peep from Firehouse.
The mystery freebie from Ruby Tuesdays was a free burger. Yeay!
F.Y.I. The Qdoba birthday freebie was BOGO of equal value. Doesn’t have to be a burrito. Wording is: “Print this out, bring it in and we’ll make any of our signature burritos or any other entree for you free, when you purchase any other burrito or entree at regular price. After all, it is your birthday.” Fine print underneath stipulates the purchased one has to be “of equal or greater value”.

My birthday is on Tuesday, and I signed up for Lonestar Restaurant e-mail birthday club, and they quickly sent me an e-mail with a free printable cupon for a free 15.00 meal. I am going to enjoy one of their delicious steak dinners. It costs 16.99, so with the cupon, the meal will only cost me 1.99! Can’t beat that good deal. I also received printable cupons for a free Ryan’s restaurant meal. And a free Sammie Sandwich at, Quiznos. A free medium firehouse sandwich at, Firehouse Subs, and free ice cream creation at,Cold Stone Creameries. Red Robin sent a printable cupon for a free large hamburger. Man, I can hardly wait!
My birthday is at the end of the month. I am so excited to start getting little treats.
