QUICK UPDATE: I’ve noticed that many of these offers not only send you a free coupon on your birthday, but will also send you a coupon the very day you sign up for the club AND at every one year anniversary of you signing up. Throw in all the free coupons they send around your birthday and you can get multiple meals a year for free
I recently saw a site that had compiled a list of restaurants and other eateries that gave away free food on people’s birthdays. I thought it was such a good idea, that I decided to make an even better list here on HIF. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy free stuff, especially around the time of year when you don’t like thinking about getting older? Well now you don’t have to focus on the added candle on your cake and instead can smile when you get a free meal or such!
The original list I found hadn’t been updated in over two years, so I used it to start with, cleaned it up, and then added all the others I found on the net. Many of these offers and coupons will only be e-mailed to you, so be sure to sign up in advance!
And remember, all deals are up to the specific restaurants and thus some might not participate. So if you’re standing in the middle of Taco Bell screaming for a free taco and they aren’t budging, don’t come crying to me! Also, feel free to add / refute any places you do / don’t see here!

Atlanta Bread Company - They have a VIP eClub that you can sign up for, gaining you a free cookie on your birthday.

Bennigan’s - Sign up for their Bennigan’s Club and get a coupon for a free entree plus a free dessert.
BD’s - Join Club Mongo and get a little something something on your birthday!
BJ’s Restaurants - Free Pazookie!! (otherwise known as a delicious dessert.)
Black Angus Steakhouse - Receive a complimentary dessert for joining the BA Prime Club and a free steak dinner for your birthday!
Blimpie Subs - Members of the BIP club get a free 6′ sub on their birthday.
Bob Evans - Free kids meal for anybody under the age of 12.
Bob’s Big Boy - Free hot fudge ice cream
Boston Market - Free kids B-Day meal coupon for kids under 12 and coupons online for their various entrees.
Bonanza Steakhouse - Yet another free birthday surprise that I can’t figure out what exactly is! Oh well, just join their club and find out when they e-mail you.
Buca di Beppo - Sign up for their eClub and get a free dessert.
Buffalo Wild Wings - Free dessert with a $5 purchase. (click on the tree house in the upper left corner on their site!)
Burger King - Free kids meal to all kids club members.
California Pizza Kitchen - Free kids meal during the month of their birthday if you register first.
Captain D’s - Join their D’s Club and get a coupon for $3 off any meal, among other freebies.
Caribou Coffee - They’ll e-mail you a week before your birthday with a coupon for a free coffee drink. Or you can just print out this page and get your free coffee that way.
Carrows - Free cake plus a free dessert now just for signing up.
Cattlemen’s - Free dessert and cowboy hat (I’d go just for the cowboy hat!)
Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse - Sign up and get a free dessert plus points for every dollar spent.

Damon’s Steakhouse - Here’s a little trick. All you have to do is make a new email address, sign up, and within 24 hours they will send you 10 bucks off your meal, with the purchase of another comparably priced meal. So every time you and a friend go, you can get $10 off no matter what. Plus, they send you a few coupons for your birthday!
Don Pablos - Free $10 gift certificate after joining the Don Pablo Habanero Club.
Denny’s - Free meal & sundae to kids under 10 as long as you sign up ahead of time.
Einstein’s - Free meal
El Chicos - Free dessert
Famous Dave’s Barbeque - Free meal with advance signup.

Gordon Biersch - They say you get a special “e-gift” on your birthday, but what the heck does that mean? Anybody want to sign up for this and let us know what they get?

Juice It Up - They promise to give you a “birthday gift” but their website doesn’t say what it is. Might be worth signing up for though.
Keva - The Keva Klub promises free coupons around the time of your birthday.
Krispy Kreme - Free half dozen glazed donuts and a coffee mug with either coffee or soda in it! You might want to sign up ahead of time.
Logan’s Roadhouse - Free song and slice of cheesecake.
Lotus - Free meal
Macaroni Grill - Free dessert plus an OPERA-style “Happy Birthday” song, which is always different.
la Madeleine - Yet another on-line birthday club that will send you coupons for free food around your birthday.
Maggianos - $10 off purchase of $20 if you sign up in advance.
Mainstreet Ventures (Large chain of different restaurants, click to see if any are near you.) - Up to 50% off your meal. It’s based on the number of people in your party. For example, 2 people dining = 50% off. 3 People dining = 33% off, 4 people dining = 25%, etc.
Marble Slab Creamery - Kids can join the Marble Slab Kids Club and get a free ice cream cone on their birthday up to age 12.
Marie Calenders - Free dessert
Memphis BBQ - Coupon good for a free Rack of Ribs & strawberry shortcake, but you must sign up on their website 24 hours in advance.

Moe’s Southwest Grill - Signup for their newsletter and get a coupon for a free burrito. They also have a birthday club for kids under 10.

Thank you for making my birthday…special. I went to Red Robin Restaurant and had the free burger with UNLIMITED steak fries….IT WAS FREE! I only paid $4 for my delicious malt shake to go with the meal.
Then I bought 10 frozen food items at VONS grocery store and got 2 free movie tickets for the purchase (valued up to $12 each), so I also went to the movies for free on my birthday.
Today was a fun day.

Hallmark gives you a coupon for $5 off or 20% off your entire purchase one time during the month of your birthday. To get this you must have a gold crown card and remember to put your birthday down to be able to get your coupon. A gold crown card is great - as you make purchases you earn coupons and they mail them to you. It is great!!

Perkins does not give you a free stack of pancakes, and Golden Coral doesn’t give you a free meal either. They have no birthday club.

The local Buffalo Wild Wings says they don’t even give a dessert or sing to you, let alone a dozen wings. The only thing they will do is wish you a Happy Birthday. so sorry….

This site rocks, I don’t care who on here says that certain places don’t give things away and what not, read the disclaimer at the top retards. Some taco bells participate, some don’t. And I have gotten a free meal from chick-fil-a on my birthday, so it’s just your store then. Again, read the disclosure

The Olive Garden at Metro Center in Phoenix, AZ doesn’t give free cakes, only a song. The cake is $3.50.

If you get a Victoria’s Secret Credit Card you can get a 10 free gift card on your birthday. Also… I worked at the Olive Garden and I know that it is their corporate policy to NOT give anything but the Buena Festa song for a birthday. Cake costs extra : )

To add to the comment made about Coldstone Creamery. If you go online and join their birthday club, you can also get free ice cream for 4 family members as well,you need to know their birtdays. They will alarm you through e-mail to let you know when you can print out the coupon, and you don’t have to use it on the actual day. You have up until after a week to use the coupon. They are great to send in birthday cards for family that are in another state ! Also like Zeeterman said, this is every year for yourself, and you can switch the family members names out as well !

This is great, I was looking for something like this for my family. Its hard enough to spend a lot of money on that special day, but to throw in a couple of free goodies makes it better. By the way Toys r Us, I heard if you sign up for their kids club they will send your child a free toy & gift certificate. But I know for sure if you’re part of the kids club. Go in on your childs birthday and they get a free birthday balloon, geofrey birthday hat, and they announce the childs birthday on the intercom and tell all the associates as well as customers to wish your child a happy birthday. They walk around the store like a star. Hope this helps!

Last year Gordon Biersch was buy one entree get one free via an email coupon after you sign up. I think they also send an email coupon for a free appetizer when you sign up and on the 1 year anniversary of the day you join their club. Won’t have this year’s coupon for 2 more days…

The Toys ‘R Us one wasn’t anything like that last time we used it. We took his card in to get his “prize” & the lady just said blankly, “you can pick something out of that cart.” The toys in the cart weren’t even dollar store quality. None of the other things listed that they supposidly do were offered.
There is also a restaurant in Houghton Lake, MI called Coyle’s that has a great buffet & if you sign up for their birthday club you get a coupon in the mail for $7.50 off either food or in their gift shop (which is VERY nice).

I called every Taco Bell in the metro Detroit area and none of them had heard of the free meal on birthdays, just so people know.

Schlotzsky’s has a club on their website, and I just got a coupon for a free birthday sandwich from them, plus one from FlatTop Grill for a free stir fry.

hey guys I have the website for the taco bell birthday club, http://www.genxmex.com I’ve been receiving coupons for my family and myself for about 2 or 3 years now and if u have the coupon they have to accept it. Although it does say participating stores only, so some may not allow you to use it!

My birthday is also Feb 27th, and I can confirm the Fuddrucker’s free sundae is still good. It’s pretty massive too — a brownie covered in 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauces, and topped with whipped cream. Yum.

I was at Fuddruckers and at Krispy Kreme on my round birthday some days ago. Neither of them had anything for free, nor did they even know about any birthday special. I had to pay fully and I was so disappointed that I gave up to go anywhere else also.

I just celebrated my 35th on 5/31. Over the course of the weekend I have happily made my way through the Buffalo Wild Wings free cake, free Schlotzky’s sandwich, Cold Stone creation (Mojo Mud Pie was delicious!), and my Red Robin burger. Our Bennigan’s is closed for renovation or I would have been there too. Alas, I wish my birthday had lasted longer and there were more of these restuarants nearby. Thanks for the great b-day eats!

A suggestion: modify the line “If a restaurant’s name is blue,” to “If a restaurant’s name is blue or underlined,” since when I print this out I’m getting an underline (believe it or not) but no blue (on a black and white printer).
