Free 1-Year Costco Gold Star Membership worth $65

Sorry, this freebie has expired

Here are similar freebies still available!

If the $65 yearly membership fee has kept you from joining Costco, you might be interested in this hot deal for a free Gold Star Membership!

For a limited time, Groupon is offering a $20 Costco gift card when you purchase a Costco membership. This brings the cost down to $45 right off the bat.

Additionally, if you haven't joined Rakuten before, then you can get another $40 in cashback and up to 10% off on your Groupon purchase, which means this membership basically comes out to being completely free.

Even better, this deal is available to both new members OR previous members whose membership has been expired for 18 months or longer. So even if you let your old Costco membership lapse, you'll still qualify as long as it 1.5 years ago.

Free Costco Membership Steps

  1. New users to Rakuten (formerly ebates) create a new account. Right now, new members are getting a $40 bonus after you purchase $40 (more on that below).
  2. Search on Rakuten for “Groupon” and click to enable 10% cash back, which will take you to Groupon.com.
  3. Now on Groupon.com, search for “Costco” and buy the Gold Star Membership for $65 and get a $20 gift card back.

So in the end, you pay $65 today, but get back $40 cash from Rakuten, plus $6.50 in rebate from Rakuten, and $20 in a Costco gift card from Groupon. Those three payouts completely cover the cost of your Costco membership!

Once you redeem this offer, you'll receive a digital $20 Costco “shop card” via email. I redeemed a similar offer when I joined Costco earlier this year and my digital card came within a week or two. The card can then be used in-store, online, or at their many gas stations.

This sale on Groupon expires May 18, 2025.
