Here is the current list of free Kindle eBooks. Many of these are available to everybody! For the longest time, I thought they were only for Amazon Prime members, however I discovered anybody can read these free eBooks with any number of free Kindle apps. Be it on your phone, computer, or tablet, you can download a Kindle app and get these books for free!

They're split into different categories and were all free as of this morning, though please make sure they're still free when you go to redeem them since sometimes these promos only last for a few hours / days. You can basically think of this as the top 100 free kindle books available each day, give or take a few dozen.

Hopefully, you can find something fun to read. 📚 😃 And as usual, please check the price before you download. These free books are often time-based and will go up in price after a certain amount of time, so before you download, make sure the price is $0.00!

How to Find Free Kindle Books on Amazon

While I know many Hiffers find the daily list of free Kindle books above helpful, what if you want to find your own free books on Amazon?

Sadly, Amazon doesn't make it easy. But that doesn't mean it's impossible! I've done all the hard legwork below to help you easily find your next free book.

Amazon's Top 100 Free Books

To start, Amazon has a list of top 100 free books that updates daily.

This is a great list to check out if you want to see what's popular, but also free.

The Kindle library can be hard to navigate, but I've got the best tool to find your next free eBook! Listed below are the 31 Amazon top-level Kindle Categories. Linked are each Kindle genre's collection of free books and Kindle Unlimited freebies. Make sure the book you select is priced at $0.00 with the “Buy Now” option selected.

    • Hahaha, no!! I have an automated program that compiles this list for me every day and it attempts to correctly assign each book via the Amazon category.

      I just checked and this book is listed under History on Amazon for some reason. My script correctly guessed that was the wrong category, but then incorrectly picked Humor instead of Cooking🤦‍♂️

  5. Do you know if it’s possible to get the free book listings from Amazon as a rss feed? I’ve got a Facebook page that I’ve automate some free book posts via ifttn and rss feeds. Several of those feeds have recently dried up and I’m searching for replacements

  6. I love my kindle! I think I’m on my third one. I use it for EVERYTHING! Hubby bought me a brand new lap top about five years ago, and I think I’ve had it out maybe three times. I have well over 3,000 ebooks and MAYBE 5% of those 3,000+ are purchases. I too, love the section here for free ebooks. My next favorite free ebooks email is bookbub.com. Not every book at bookbub is free….discounted and free….but they do get some great free ones each day. You can tell them what genres you prefer at sign up. And of course, bookbub itself is free. 😉

    And Goob? I ‘ve been a fan of yours for………it’s been so long, I can’t remember when I first joined! LoL LOVE your sense of humor!! Kudos to you for staying with us all for all these years!

  7. Hey Goob. Thanks for the always interesting and sometimes useful comments and info from HIF. One of my favorite emails besides the humorous junk I delete every day. Appreciate the wit you provide and some fun stuff to boot. Kindle freebies especially helpful so I don’t have to peruse Amazon for eleventeen hours to find good FREE reading.   13. Thanks Goob! I love free stuff, especially from Amazon. I had no idea we can get so much media for free on our Kindle Apps. I’m going to have to clean up my mac so I can store all the free books on there. I might not read them all, but I’ll take as much as I can haha.

  14. I love to read. Another place for cheap reading material is at local library sales. Of course, you will pay a little but then it is an on-hand book at a good price. It is a good place to pick up cheap reading books for beginning readers and give them as Christmas/birthday gifts.

    • Actually, no! You can download the free Kindle app and read these on your tablet, smartphone, or computers.

      You will need an Amazon Prime account to access the downloads though.

      • Actually, you *don’t* need an Amazon Prime account, just a regular account. In other words, just register with Amazon for free, and you can download any $0.00 book for free. I’ve been doing it for more than a decade, and it hasn’t cost me a single cent for any of them. And I don’t have a Prime account.

  19. I just thought I would mention another site that might interest fellow readers. I recently discovered Harlequin Rewards (Sign Up at: and you get enough points for a free eBook from their site just for signing up or you can save your points up to get a free print book.

  28. To Shelli Browning, It is very easy to put your ebooks onto a kindle once you buy one.. I have kindle for pc but bought my kids kindles for Christmas this year and all I had to do was register the kindle with the same email and password as the free kindle app and you connect to wifi and they are all there you just pick the one(s) you want and download.

  32. Fab freebie – now if I can figure out how to lug my PC outside so I can read all my free new books! One day I’ll break down and get a Kindle. Till then, Goob, thanks for passing on offers like these and letting us know they are good for PCs, too. Hope I can figure out how to get them transferred to a Kindle when I eventually buy one!

    Also, if you go to ereaderiq.com and sign up for the daily email they will send you a list everyday of the new free books.

    I’ve read a couple of these classics, 20,00 Leagues and The Picture of Dorian Gray. I love classics, and I’m looking forward to reading Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, Frankenstein, Dracula, and some other classics that I should have read by now.
