Free Kindle eBooks

Today’s Free Kindle eBooks

As usual, I've put together a list of free Kindle eBooks. Many of these are available to everybody! For the longest time, I thought they were only for Amazon Prime members, however I discovered anybody can read these free eBooks with any number of free Kindle apps. Be it on your phone, computer, or tablet, you can download a Kindle app and get these books for free!

They're split into different categories and were all free as of this morning, though please make sure they're still free when you go to redeem them since sometimes these promos only last for a few hours / days.

Hopefully, you can find something fun to read. 📚 😃 And as usual, please check the price before you download. These free books are often time-based and will go up in price after a certain amount of time, so before you download, make sure the price is $0.00!

Kindle First Free Books

Amazon Prime: Free Unreleased Kindle Books

Did you know Amazon Prime members get Kindle access to unreleased books each month? I had no idea! Each month they let you pick two upcoming books to download before they're actually released. This month you can pick from the following:

  1. The Man Burned by Winter (Rooker Lindström Thriller Book 1) by Pete Zacharias
  2. Last Summer Boys: A Novel by Bill Rivers
  3. Under Her Care: A Thriller by Lucinda Berry
  4. The Candid Life of Meena Dave by Namrata Patel
  5. The Community: A Memoir by N. Jamiyla Chisholm
  6. West Side Love Story by Priscilla Oliveras
  7. The Peacekeeper: A Novel by B.L. Blanchard
  8. Thursday by Ann Bonwill (Author), Kayla Harren (Illustrator)

Dang, I was really hoping for the next Song of Ice and Fire book to be listed there. Guess I'll have to wait another decade or two.

At least Leviathan Falls, the final book from The Expanse series released last month, was excellent!

Free Public Domain Audiobooks

Free Public Domain Audiobooks

Through a quirk in our copyright law, around 80% of American books published before 1964 are not copyrighted and are therefore in the public domain. The LibriVox project takes advantage of this by using volunteers to record chapters of books outside of copyright and release free public domain audiobooks!

They're been recording free audiobooks since 2010 and currently have over 16,000 catalogued works, with 93 new books added within the last month alone. You can search by author, title, language, or genre / subject. You don't even have to make an account in order to access the free audiobooks. Simply click on any book, then download the whole book's worth of audiofiles from the sidebar. You can also listen to any chapter right in your computer or phone's browser without any extra software required.

Free How to Get Your Kids to Beg for Veggies eBook

Free How to Get Your Kids to Beg for Veggies eBook

As a long-time guerrilla saboteur, I've waged a quiet war with various vegetables over the years. So this free How to Get Your Kids to Beg for Veggies eBook has me worried. For starters, uh, like … how?

You know, for science. How do these monsters make children beg for vegetables? What are their secret, pro-vegetable brainwashing techniques? I MUST KNOW!

This freebie is offered by Tradepub, who also has hundreds of other free magazines, ebooks, and trade publications available.

Free IKEA ScrapsBook Cookbook

Free IKEA ScrapsBook Cookbook

IKEA has released a free ScrapsBook cookbook available to download on your phone and computer.

IKEA has created The ScrapsBook, in collaboration with chefs from across North America. This cookbook is dedicated to cooking with the little things we usually throw away. Or, as we like to call it, “scrapcooking.”

Scrapcooking is about finding the beautiful possibilities in that banana peel, radish top, or even the chicken bones you’re about to toss, and make the most of everything available to you. It’s little things like these that can add up to make a big difference.

The ScrapsBook features 50 recipes created in collaboration with chefs across North America and waste-saving tips, all designed to help you live a little more sustainably in your kitchen.

You can also join their free IKEA Family before April 14 and you'll entered to win a limited-edition hardcover copy of the cookbook! – Hiffer Marc points out this giveaway is only for Canadians. However, Americans can still download the free cookbook!

This will be the first IKEA product I ever use that doesn't leave me with 10 extra pieces and 14 pointless Allen keys.

Free Black Panther Digital Comic Series

Free Black Panther Digital Comic Series

I've found two different Black Panther comic freebies! First up are over 200 old school Black Panther comics available for free on Comixology as digital copies. This batch of comics includes their entire library of single-issue Black Panther comics.

For something a little newer, Amazon is giving away all 22 issues of the ongoing Black Panther current run by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

From Book 1: A bold new direction for the Black Panther! For years, T'Challa has fought off invaders from his homeland, protecting Wakanda from everything from meddling governments to long-lost gods. Now, he will discover that Wakanda is much bigger than he ever dreamed… Across the vast Multiverse lies an empire founded in T'Challa's name. Readers caught a glimpse of it in MARVEL LEGACY #1. Now find out the truth behind the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda! Ta-Nehisi Coates welcomes aboard fan-favorite artist Daniel Acuña for a Black Panther story unlike any other!

These freebies are presumably a tribute to Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who recently passed away in August. I'm not sure how much longer either freebies will be available.

Free Historic Mexican Recipe Cookbooks

Free Historic Mexican Recipe Cookbooks

The University of Texas at San Antonio recently began the massive job of digitizing the largest collection of historic Mexican cookbooks in the United States. UTSA's collection of Mexican cookbooks includes over 2,000 titles stretching as far back as 1789!

UTSA is releasing their work in 3 parts for free and you can start by viewing or downloading the first issue of postres – aka desserts!

In this inaugural edition, we're saving the best for first. Put your baking skills to the test with classic Mexican desserts. These age-old recipes for baked bananas, rice pudding, chestnut flan, and churros will hit the sweet spot.

This first issue contains an 1831 recipe for rice pudding and a churro recipe written shortly after the Mexican Revolution. It's pretty rare when my job intersects with my love of all things history!

Next is their second issue – drinks!

Raise a glass to a collection of delicious Mexican beverages! These recipes will come in handy whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or looking for a warm drink for the cool days to come. ¡Salud!

The third and final edition on Main Courses should release soon.

New to Audible?

Audible is an excellent way to fit reading into a busy schedule! Audiobooks are perfect for commutes and traveling. I also listen to them while cooking all the time. I can't recommend them enough.

These audiobook sales would have been great during my younger years. 24-hour roundtrip car rides with my friends and family would have been greatly enhanced would a few free audiobook downloads, in my humble opinion.

Instead, my brothers and I always got into 90 minute arguments over which starter Pokémon was the best. It's a small miracle we all made it back home in one piece year after year.
