Free Kindle eBooks

Today’s Free Kindle eBooks

Here is the current list of free Kindle eBooks. Many of these are available to everybody! For the longest time, I thought they were only for Amazon Prime members, however I discovered anybody can read these free eBooks with any number of free Kindle apps. Be it on your phone, computer, or tablet, you can download a Kindle app and get these books for free!

They're split into different categories and were all free as of this morning, though please make sure they're still free when you go to redeem them since sometimes these promos only last for a few hours / days. You can basically think of this as the top 100 free kindle books available each day, give or take a few dozen.

Hopefully, you can find something fun to read. 📚 😃 And as usual, please check the price before you download. These free books are often time-based and will go up in price after a certain amount of time, so before you download, make sure the price is $0.00!

Amazon Prime: Free Unreleased Kindle Books

Did you know Amazon Prime members get Kindle access to unreleased books each month? I had no idea! Each month they let you one free upcoming book to download before it's actually released to the public. This month you can pick from the following:

  1. Lovers at the Museum: A Short Story by Isabel Allende
  2. Friends in Napa: A Novel by Sheila Yasmin Marikar
  3. Family Reservations: A Novel by Liza Palmer
  4. Matterhorn (Mac Dekker Book 1) by Christopher Reich
  5. The Lost Letters of Aisling: A Novel by Cynthia Ellingsen
  6. The Monstrous Misses Mai: A Novel by Van Hoang
  7. What Is Love? by Jen Comfort
  8. The Lies Among Us: A Novel by Sarah Beth Durst

Dang, I was really hoping for the next Song of Ice and Fire book to be listed there. Guess I'll have to wait another decade or two.

Free Historic Mexican Recipe Cookbooks

Free Historic Mexican Recipe Cookbooks

The University of Texas at San Antonio recently began the massive job of digitizing the largest collection of historic Mexican cookbooks in the United States. UTSA's collection of Mexican cookbooks includes over 2,000 titles stretching as far back as 1789!

UTSA eventually released their work in 3 parts for free and you can start by viewing or downloading the first issue of postres – aka desserts!

In this inaugural edition, we're saving the best for first. Put your baking skills to the test with classic Mexican desserts. These age-old recipes for baked bananas, rice pudding, chestnut flan, and churros will hit the sweet spot.

This first issue contains an 1831 recipe for rice pudding and a churro recipe written shortly after the Mexican Revolution. It's pretty rare when my job intersects with my love of all things history!

Next is their second issue – drinks!

Raise a glass to a collection of delicious Mexican beverages! These recipes will come in handy whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or looking for a warm drink for the cool days to come. ¡Salud!

Finally, their third edition on Main Courses recently dropped.

From birria to barbacoa and nopalitos to taquitos, main dishes—or platos fuertes—take center stage and feature food traditions that define Mexico’s culinary history.

¡Buen provecho!

Free Stuff Your Kindle eBook Day

Over 20,000 Free eBooks for “Stuff Your Kindle Day!”

Our daily list of free ebooks is always a popular page on the site. It's great for finding new books that you can get for free and keep forever, but the only downside is there are usually only a hundred or so available each day. Wouldn't it be nice if you could instead get thousands of free ebooks?!

Well enter Amazon's new quarterly promotion – Stuff Your Kindle Day! Running from September 20-22, you can get over 20,000 free eBooks that are yours to keep forever! Many of these books regularly cost between $5-15, which means these freebie events are potentially worth over tens of thousands of dollars!

These free eBooks are available for people without an Amazon Kindle as well! They can be read via the free Amazon Kindle app on your iPhone or Android device. They can also be read on your laptop or desktop computer. And additionally, those of us with a competitor Nook or Kobo eReader can also load these books onto your device. I have a Kobo and my preferred method of converting these books is with the free Calibre software.

This promotion is sponsored by Romance Bookworms, so the majority of these free eBooks are romance based. But not all of them! The best way to find non-romance titles is by clicking “Books” in the left sidebar of the search results. It should take you to this results page that has a ton of other options to choose from, such as Children's Books, Cookbooks, History, Science Fiction, and dozens more.

If you miss out this week, then be sure to set a reminder for the next event happening starting on December 27.

Remember to Cancel Your Trial

Please note that once the trial has ended, the subscription costs $14.95 per month. However, it's extremely easy to cancel your trial directly from your Audible account page.

Free Audiobooks from Audible

New to Audible?

Audible is an excellent way to fit reading into a busy schedule! Audiobooks are perfect for commutes and traveling. I also listen to them while cooking all the time. I can't recommend them enough.

These audiobook sales would have been great during my younger years. 24-hour roundtrip car rides with my friends and family would have been greatly enhanced would a few free audiobook downloads, in my humble opinion.

Instead, my brothers and I always got into 90 minute arguments over which starter Pokémon was the best. It's a small miracle we all made it back home in one piece year after year.

Free Public Domain Audiobooks

Free Public Domain Audiobooks

Through a quirk in our copyright law, around 80% of American books published before 1964 are not copyrighted and are therefore in the public domain. The LibriVox project takes advantage of this by using volunteers to record chapters of books outside of copyright and release free public domain audiobooks!

They're been recording free audiobooks since 2010 and currently have over 16,000 catalogued works, with 93 new books added within the last month alone. You can search by author, title, language, or genre / subject. You don't even have to make an account in order to access the free audiobooks. Simply click on any book, then download the whole book's worth of audiofiles from the sidebar. You can also listen to any chapter right in your computer or phone's browser without any extra software required.
