I’m a general sports fan in that I can watch pretty much anything. Oh, football’s on? Sweet, turn it up. Nascar? Okay, I guess driving in a circle’s a sport. Aussie rules rugby? Heck yes! (seriously, I think more Americans would love this style, but I digress.) My true passion is baseball though, which is why I was thrilled when I saw this free taco from Taco Bell offer that might get more people to watch the World Series when it starts on Wednesday. Why? Because we only get the taco if any one player steals a base in the upcoming World Series.

Luckily, not only is history on our side (there’s been at least one stolen base in each of the past 17 World Series), but there’s going to be ample opportunity for somebody to swipe a bag since between the Phillies and the Rays, there are six players who had at least 20 stolen bases this year. My money’s on either Philly’s Shane Victorino or Tampa’s Carl Crawford being the one to bring home this freebie for us.

But when can we actually get the freebie? If the stolen base occurs in Games 1-4 on October 22, 23, 25 or 26, we can get the taco on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. If the base is stolen in Games 5-7, October 27, 29 or 30, we get it Monday, November 3, 2008. (the official website says 3008, but I’m really hoping that’s a typo!) Whichever day it is, we can get the taco between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. So basically just plan on eating a lunch or dinner at Taco Bell pretty soon and enjoying a free taco while you’re there
