Free Kids In-Store Events Schedule

Calendar of Next Free Kids In-Store Events

It can get a little confusing keeping track of all the great, free in-store kids events. So I've put together this comprehensive list of all the stores we track!

Apple – Their summer Apple Camp is already back for 2021.

Bass Pro Shops – Their summer events typically run throughout June, July, or August.

Home Depot – These monthly events are held from 9am-noon on the first Saturday of each month. They're designed for children aged 5-12 and pre-registration is required.

JCPenney – The Kids Zone events are each month on the second Saturday. They include a freebie to take home, ID badge, lanyard, collector's pin, and more. Parents also receive a free 10% coupon good for that day online.

Lowe's – Their free monthly kids DIY events are back as of 2021! Registration opens a month early and then you pick the kits up curbside at your local Lowe's.

Lego – These monthly-themed events have recently shifted to varying days, depending on your local store. But kids still get to build a take-home LEGO toy. Some Hiffers have reported their local Lego stores have already phased these events out, so please make sure to call ahead!

Michaels – Their Kids Workshops recently started charging $1, but many of their summer dates are back to being free!

Target – They're monthly events are held on random Saturdays, usually near the end of the month, during late morning hours. They're often related to upcoming kids movies or events, with free games, prizes, and giveaway.

Know of any repeating, free in-store kids events I should start covering? Please let me know in the comments!

Free LEGO Mini Model Event

LEGO Building Event: Space Ship Blast Off

Registration is now open for the next free LEGO Make and Take event! During June, kids get to build a free spaceship to launch in to space and then take home.

This continues the new format where LEGO Stores offered their free events on multiple days! These monthly mini build events are open to children ages 6-14 only and slots are limited, so you have to reserve a space before they run out.

Now for the bad news. For some weird reason, LEGO recently changed how registration for these events work. You no longer can register online, but must register in-store first. Kinda crazy if you ask me! Hopefully they revert this policy ASAP because how many of us have time for in-store registration? Each store has approximately 120 free LEGO kits per night and time reservations are on a first come, first serve basis.

I see no mention of registration for June, so perhaps they killed this draconian in-store registration plan from May? Either way, I'd call ahead and ask!

Also, I've noticed a few super cheap items lately in LEGO's sale and discount section. If you have a little one with an upcoming birthday who loves LEGOs, it might be worth scoping out.

Free Complete Adventures of Pan Books

Free Complete Adventures of Pan Books

Apple is giving away The Complete Adventures of Pan Books 1-7 for free on iTunes right now. This freebie contains the complete series of stories about the adventures of Pan, aimed at children aged 4 and up.

So what's the story about? Surprisingly, not cooking ware!

PETA Kids Freebies

PETA Kids Freebies

PETA Kids had a collection of freebies that I've written about over the years. However, to make things easier, I've consolidated all of their freebies into this post. I'll keep this updated and current as new PETA samples are released.

I first published these free stickers in 2009 and when they arrived, my little sister stuck them all over our family house. A few of them are even still there today! Every time I go home, I'm reminded of how cute animals are. It makes it really hard to eat meat when you're constantly being reminded of where it comes from. I enjoy my ignorance and would appreciate it if I could continue believing in the Meat Fairy, which is where all delicious meat obviously comes from.

Right now, you can request the following freebies:

You may have to copy & paste the links in order to go straight to the signup form.

I wonder what the guide to helping animals will say. My guess is 1) Don't eat meat. 2) Stop dressing your pets in creepy sweaters.

[thanks to Hiffer Jessica for reminding me about these!]

free-child-safety-kit

Free Child Safety Kit

Today's free Child Safety kit is designed to help out in unfathomable situation where a child goes missing. The last time I check, there were children everywhere in America, but this freebie is unfortunately only available to select areas. However, you can enter your zip code to see if they have any for your region / state / town / neighborhood? I don't normally post offers that are only available in certain areas, but we're in a bit of a freebie drought and this could be a literal life-safer for those Hiffers who do qualify!

Has anybody signed up for this the past few times I've published it? What did you ultimately get in your kit?

Free Headlines that Changed History Poster

Free Headlines That Changed History Poster

Ohhh, I wonder what free “Headlines that Changed History” poster I'll recieve. I've got my eyes set on my birth announcement! At the time, it wasn't so much a headline as a page D17 blurb. But after the illustrious life and career I've managed, I'm all by certain my family's local paper has gone back and edited their archive.

The site says all you need is a valid email and address, so I entered “None” for what school I attend.

Free Target Baby Kit

Free Target Baby Welcome Kit πŸŽ―πŸ‘Ά

If you're expecting a little bundle of sleepless nights, then spend a few minutes making a baby registry on Target.com and you'll get a free baby welcome kit valued at over $80!

After taking just a few minutes to create your registry, stop by your local Target to pick up your free baby welcome gift at Gust Services.

It's well worth it, as many of the samples are full sized along with tons of coupons! Make sure to bring photo ID or a crying baby to pick it up.

If a Hiffer takes advantage of this any time soon, please contact me!

Kids Eat Free at IHOP

Kids Eat Free at IHOP

Now through September 25, 2016, kids eat free at IHOP with the purchase of each adult entree from 4-10pm at participating locations. However the geniuses behind what I have to assume is at least a million dollar campaign forgot one key detail during all their meetings. I couldn't find a list of participating locations on their site.

That being said, you'll probably want to call your nearest IHOP before heading off with the little ones in toe.

Free JCPenney Kids Haircut

KID, RUUUUUUUUN! Whoever is holding those clippers is about to shave your head since there are free kids haircuts at JCPenney for the month of August. All you need to do is call 855-JCP-KIDS or your local JCP salon and set up an appointment for any kid in grades K-6. Well, try and make it for your own kid. Society tends to frown upon borrowing neighborhood children just to give them a free haircut.

Free Weekend Events

Since the freebies suddenly dried up over the past 48 hours, I hunted down a few extra free events this weekend.

  • Lakeshore Learning – Their craft event from 11am-3pm is building a Spring Chick.
  • Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic – Kids will be making a sports pinball game from 10am-12pm. As usual, space is limited, so register on-lin.
  • Michaels – On Saturday from 10am-1pm, kids can attend the free Make-It, Take-It Crayola event. It's been a while since I've used crayons, so I don't really know what this is.
  • Michaels – What?! TWO Michaels events in one weekend?! Okay, calm down there. Sunday's event will be another Make-It, Take-It event where they “build” an Easter pail. Note that this is from 1pm-3pm.
  • Toys R Us – From 11am-1pm on Saturday, there's a Thomas Play Date where kids enjoy story time, coloring, and free giveaways.

In other words, sleep in this weekend if you're childless.

Free GoodNites Sleep Underwear

Free Pull-Ups

Costco is offering free Pull-Ups training pants and the best part is the signup form doesn't require a Costco Member ID. Maybe they finally realized that doing so was futile as we all knew to punch in 9 random numbers. I just wish that little trick would work on other things like ATMs, phones, and girlfriends.

Wait, that makes it sound like I date robots. No, no, don't worry. I only go for cyborgs.
