Instore: Free Victoria’s Secret Body Lotion

I’ve always wondered if Victoria was a real person or simply a made up entity, like Betty Crocker. Some of you might suggest that I inquire about this pressing mystery while using my free Victoria’s Secret body lotion coupon, but I’m two steps ahead of you. A few years back I tried that approach and it only resulted in 30 lost minutes, six confused employees, no answers, and three unnecessarily purchased bras. I still to this day don’t know how they convinced me to buy the bras, but I’m guessing that’s part of their secret.

Victoria’s Secret must be that she marks up her clothing and other items by 1000%!

“Victoria’s Secret started in San Francisco, in 1977 by Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus Roy Raymond, who felt embarrassed trying to purchase lingerie for his wife in a public and awkward department store environment. He opened the first store at Stanford Shopping Center, and quickly followed it with a mail order catalog and three other stores. The stores were meant to create a comfortable environment for men, with wood-paneled walls, Victorian details and helpful sales staff. Instead of racks of bras and panties in every size, there were single styles, paired together and mounted on the wall in frames. Men could browse for sexy styles for their girlfriends so they could get “down and dirty” and then sales staff would help estimate the appropriate size, pulling from inventory in the back. In 1982, after 5 years of operations, Roy Raymond sold the company to The Limited. ” quote Wikipedia

At least Laura Secord and Colonel Sanders were real.

    MARY,
I had no idea of the history of Victoria’s Secret. Now, in the store if you ask for a size thats not on the floor; sales associate replies “sorry we have all of our supply out”! If only Roy Raymond would of the kept his store he would of had my size available…
