   Why do some companies do these text-based freebies? I get charged 20¢ for every text, so they are not free for me grumble, grumble

   I forgot to mention, this is from ShopText. We’ve posted a few of their freebies before and what you do is sign up with them on their website and then all future freebies you just send in the text message with a code. The program will recognize your cell #, match it up with your address that you provided when you signed up, and ship the freebie to you.

   Unfortunately if you don’t have a cell phone, you can’t get ShopText freebies.

   I spent about $3.00 in text messages the last time this was posted. Two months later and I haven’t received this “free sample.” If you’re paying for texts, think about whether you want to take the chance!
