The national nonprofit SAFE Project has teamed up with Athletico Physical Therapy and the creators of the Deterra® Drug Deactivation and Disposal System to host a third annual Gone for Good. This environmentally safe, at-home medication disposal campaign helps to prevent addiction and properly dispose of excess medications. That's why from April 1-30 they've giving away free Deterra Pouches to households nationwide, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.
Here's how the pouches work:
- Tear open pouch – do not remove inner pod(s). Place unused medications inside.
- Fill pouch halfway with warm water and wait 30 seconds for air to release. Some foaming may occur.
- Seal pouch tightly, gently shake and dispose of normal household trash.
There are approximately 1.8 million unwanted medications in U.S. households right now. If your house is one of them, then request a free pouch today.
