During my freshman year of college, my friend pledged for a fraternity. Part of his initiation was buying a bunch of odd item to carry around in his backpack for a few weeks. So we head to Walmart for our weekly shopping trip and once I'm finished buying all my food, I find him wandering aimlessly in the food aisle. He had everything he needed except for one final item – Kentucky jelly. I had no idea what in the world Kentucky jelly was, but I helped him look nonetheless for over 30 minutes. Once frustration finally set in, he marched up to the nearest employee for help.

“Excuse me,” he asked, “do you have any Kentucky jelly?” The employee looked at him with a blank stare and at this point, my friend produced the list and pointed to it. “See, right there, I need some Kentucky jelly.”

“Sir, the KY does not stand for Kentucky. KY Jelly is an adult lubricant.”

We still laugh about it to this day.

I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but Election Day on Tuesday, November 3 is kind of important. We're having an electrocution? No, that's not it. An election! I always forget about this free Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather sample sachet that we can request every two months. All you have to do is take a short, five questions quiz. For help, click the “clue” button next to each question and it'll take you to the page where the answer is found. You also get to check each answer, so you can't really fail.

I won't lie – I hate quizzes. They were easily the worst part of school. The threat of a pop quiz always put a timer on my harrowing escapes from inside the gym lockers. I think it's why I get panic attacks simply from a faint whiff of Gold Bond.

This is one of the oldest freebies in continued existence. I can remember requesting Nikwax samples back before HIF was even a glint in my eyes.
