UPDATED – Election Day Freebies

Bad news: My previous election day freebie post is no longer current and up to date.

Good news: That’s because there are way more freebies being given away on election day than previously thought!

Awesome news: Only half of the offers require an “I Voted” sticker! Unless otherwise noted, you can use the honor system and tell them that you have already voted. Many voting locations will give away multiple stickers, however, so if you did vote early maybe have a friend who is voting tomorrow snag a few extra for ya :D

Babeland – Ahh. Ok. Um. How about a free sex toy? Haha, wow. If you live in NY, LA, or Seattle, then you’re good to go, in more ways than one I guess.
Ben & Jerry’s – Free scoop of ice cream between 5-8pm.
Books A Million – Get a free cup of coffee. Must have an “I Voted” sticker. I can’t find a link for this offer, but multiple people have reported getting an e-mail from BAM stating this offer is legit.
California Tortilla – Free taco, but you must have an “I Voted” sticker. (DE, MD, DC, PA, VA, WV)
Chick-fil-a – I’d call ahead to make sure you’re local store is participating in this one, because only about 75% are from what I can tell. Anyway, get a free chicken sandwich if you TURN IN your “I Voted” sticker to them. There are a few locations that are also running a promotion on Nov. 5 for another free chicken sandwich if you bring in your political yard sign.
Daily Grill – Free Happy Hour appetizer, which starts around 4pm. Must have an “I Voted” sticker or a ballot stub. (CA, DC, MA, MD, OK, OR, TX, VA, WA).
Krispy Kreme – Free “Patriotic” donut if you have an “I Voted” sticker.
New Look Tattoo Removal – Haha, if you live in Dallas and have your “I Voted” sticker, you can get a free laser tattoo removal session from 9am-9pm.
Shane’s Rib Shack – Get an entire free meal consisting of three chicken tenders, fries, and a coke. Must have an “I Voted!” sticker.
Starbucks – Free small coffee if you tell them you voted.

Other Regional Offers – SlickDeals has a list of regional freebies similar to the tattoo removal offer if you scroll down a little. Mad props to Guru of New for a few heads up on these as well! Anybody else know of some that I’ve missed?

You apparently will be committing a felony if you accept a “I voted” freebie in Georgia. This is from a story in the Atlanta Journal:

QUOTE “According to the Secretary of State’s office, rewards and discounts being offered to people who show up with “I’m a Georgia voter” stickers Tuesday are illegal, and in fact may constitute a felony under state statutes.

Voters who accept such freebies might also be committing a crime. Secretary of State Karen Handel’s office released a statement Monday to reiterate the law to businesses planning giveaways. It quotes Georgia Code Section 21-2-570, which says: “Any person who gives or receives, or offers to give or receive, or participates in the giving or receiving of money or gifts for the purpose of registering as a voter, voting, or voting for a particular candidate in any primary or election shall be guilty of a felony.”

It adds: “Businesses are free to offer ‘Election Day’ specials or sales for all of its customers but gifts, incentives or specials just for voters is prohibited under this provision.” ENDQUOTE

Oddly enough, every voter in Georgia receives a gift when they vote in the form of a round sticker with a peach on it that says “I’m a Georgia voter.”

Wouldn’t that gift be a clear violation of the law quoted by Georgia Sec. of State Handel?

Haha, I really would like to see Handel try and go after anybody who accepted an election day freebie. There are polling places all across the country that offer free sandwiches and donuts. You’d have to be making a pretty big stretch in order to prove that somebody voted because of the freebies.

Shane’s Rib Shack is only giving a free chicken meal to the first 300 customers and they opened at 11am…

Yeah, it looks like they’ve removed their page that listed the election day freebie deal as well. That’s a shame!

I did not receive a sticker when I voted…so what does that leave me with many of these companies? They should consider polling places that don’t give out stickers :(

Awesome. My vote is now being bought and sold like the rest of the election!

  8. #8 Candy |

i was wondering do you have to vote to recieve these freebies

  10. #10 Denise |

No free coffee at Starbucks Las Vegas. I told them I voted today and they said “Good for you”. When I asked for my free tall coffee they had no idea what I was talking about. How embarassing. Is this some kind of joke???
