Deal: $5 Magazine Subscriptions

Amazon has almost a dozen year-long magazine subscriptions for only $5 each, making for some nice (and cheap!) Christmas gifts. The $5 price tag is anywhere from 88 to 92% off the regular subscription price and the deal is only available until December 1. The full list of available magazines are:

If I may make a suggestion for the man in your life, go for the Popular Science. It’s full of articles that will make him feel inadequate about his knowledge of tools and cars – not that I’m projecting my own feelings at all! Or better yet, go for the SI Kids. If there’s one thing that helps sooth the sting of never making it as a professional baseball player, it’s know that no matter how old I am, I can still strike out an eight year old.

    Thanks! Daughter gift & daughter home work! Found People Espanol for $9.97. Daughter has been BEGGING for People but I’m not paying $119 a year. This way she gets People, I pay <$10 and she can use it to practice her Spanish! I love gifts that keep on giving!

    i am confused on the free magazine subscriptions. if it dosent state that the subscription is for a year then how long is it for?? I cannot find a number to call anyone. help!!

    they aren’t free kimberly.
    all mag subscriptions are for 1 year.
    they are $5. Sooooo if you can’t pay $5 then don’t do it.

    Clicking on the magazine cover or the title brings up the subscription details. You can get 12 issues of each magazine EXCEPT:
    House Beautiful (10 issues)
    PEOPLE StyleWatch (10 issues)
    Southern Living (13 issues)

    Just FYI, I also ordered a subscription that said it was $10 along with a $5 and when I got to checkout I noticed that it gave me a $5 discount! So, there may be several other $5 subscriptions besides these you have listed. Thanks!

    I already subscribe to one of these magazines. Can I purchase another year for $5 and have it added to my current expiration date? I’m concerned that it won’t be added to the end of my current subscription and that I’ll start receiving 2 of the same issues each month.

    Jim, if you look at the top of the page, you’ll see where it says “Give a gift, renew an existing subscription, or start a new one.” You probably need to make sure you enter your information exactly as the current magazine mailing label has it.

    Do you have to sign up for the visa card to get the magazines for five dollars?

    No, you don’t have to sign up for the Visa card. I used the one I use for any of my on-line shopping.

    My concern was if I place an order for Smart Money, which I am a current subscriber, will the subscription that I purchase be added on to the end of my current subscription, which doesn’t expire until Nov 2010, or will I start receiving 2 of the same issues. Well I went through the purchasing process up until I’d have to hit the final button to place the order. Through this whole process I was never asked if I have a current subscription going and, if so, the new purchase will add another year to the current subscription. The $5 deal for a year is a great deal but because I was not assured that I wouldn’t receive the 2 same issues every month, I cancelled the whole thing. You would think that Amazon.com would assume that some people already subscribe to some of these magazines and assure them that their purchase will extend their current subscription.
